:::She sips, and begins to look her own curious self again for a moment:::
enchantment?

*Mel rolls her eyes and takes a substantial swallow of her drink*
Magic, dear. Haven't we been through this before? *she sighs, then explains* Most women of my current time simply suffer through the discomfort . . mindless fools . . . but I had a lovely little spell going that made it quite pleasant. Until now, of course. *she casts a baleful look towards the void of a ceiling and takes another drink*

Right, magic. I remember...I didn't know that it went by 'enchantment' as well. What did your ability allow you to do...? Stopped the discomfort? :::She thinks to herslef::: I can do that too, but with chemicals.

*she lifts an eyebrow* Chemicals, hmm? And these . .. chemicals . .. are still effective here?

Sure...the same way this wine is. All they do is alter the synaptic response, causing specific chemicals to be released in the brain, which govern all things the body feels.... I have chemicals that stop the reception of feeling pain.
:::She takes out a vial::: Are you in pain? :::Unsure:::

*Melliandra looks at Cora as though she's completely off her rocker, but then darts a hand out with surprising speed to swipe the vial, holding it up to inspect it* A potion of sorts, then? Hmmmm . . . .

:::Cora was surprised that the woman so eagerly snatched it up, but it didn't matter much...so long as she didn't try to drink it:::
...I've never heard it called that name. It alters human feelings but does so within the bounds of normalcy. I can't say that it's super-human at all since it merely utilizes normal human functions. I'm not that is what is considered magic.

*Mel shoots another glance at Cora* If you weren't from quite a great many years ahead of me, I'd say you were utterly mad. *she tucks the vial in her bodice, clearly not intending to return it anytime soon*

Uh...Melliandra. That substance, I don't think you know how to administer it. Used improperly it could cause serious bodily damage...

...I'm serious. Whatever you do, don't administer it oraly. It's to be injected directly into the blood stream. And only use it when you're in pain, otherwise opposite effects are likely to occur.
:::When was she from again? Did she even know what a circulatory system was?:::
:::Cora watched for a hint of recognition of her warning:::

Ugh! Listen! :::She chased after Melli like a worried puppy:::
Please tell me you won't use it impropperly, I don't want to be resposnable for a poisoning, or even death!

My dear girl, you are hardly responsible for anything I do.

Well...I mean. Naturally. But, perhaps you don't understand. You're from a much more primative time, and I don't think you fully grasp what it is you have. And if that were the case, it would be my fault for allowing you to keep it, knowing you might hurt yourself, or others.
