neutral Well, I've been looking and I can't find the original article I read, but I need to rant momentarily on the arrogance and disgusting homophobia of some of the people in this state.
Recently a guy from the city of Lexington, Jason Johnson, was expelled from the University of the Cumberlands for, he says, posting somehwere that he was gay. A representative of the University said something along the lines of, "We do not support alternative lifestyles, and tell our students as such when they're in highschool and looking at applying here. If they really want to go to college, they should go out west, or into the north east, where that kind of lifestyle is acceptable." Naturally, it's not verbatum, but that was the general idea.
It's not just them either, I've noticed a drastic increase in homophobia around the city, extending far beyond the middle and high school years. I guess that's what I get for still living in a middle class white ******** piss me off.

Damn. confused That is just...astoundingly stupid. It's sometimes hard to believe that there are people out there who're that ******** in the head that they can actually think like that.

I didn't think I would get in, really. I've had so many bad experiences with being rejected from things I'm told I have a really good chance at. This is the first one that was extremely competitive, and I just can't believe I made it! sweatdrop heart Hopefully this should make up for a few of those lost opportunities, eh? Thanks, I'm really excited about it! I'll be studying at Waseda University's School of International and Liberal Studies in Tokyo (Waseda is often described as Japan's equivalent of UCLA). I guess I'll basically be taking a variety of classes that apply to my asian studies minor (major if I can succeed in petitioning it), Japanese, and other classes that I feel like I want to take. whee I got in on my Political Science major, but I'll be dumping it for asian studies or liberal studies soon because I'm not as interested in polysci as I thought I was... sweatdrop

I guess it comes down to the fact that it has to do with just that person/kind of people. It's almost like they're afraid that the homos are going to hit on them or like, redecorate their house. confused
