"Time is different when you're dead," Dari said. Michael said so, at least, and he had nobody else to ask. "Besides, we don't know if aliens have an afterlife. We've never had one die and come back to tell us. Secondly, we're not sure there is a Hell, as we don't have any proof of that either."
Besides, he could always kill himself if it got too bad and chance it.

Cody crossed his arms. "None of that matters," he said. The only thing that mattered was Dari! Why didn't he see that? He hesitated, then, and let his arms fall to his sides. "Sixty seven years," he murmured. "Great. Let's make them the best. Let's head to the zoo."

Cody nodded and sat. "No rush, love," he assured him. "What is it?" He wondered, aloud. "4th dimension thing?"

Dari looked to Cody, then back to the easel.

Dari opened his mouth, closed it again, then began to speak.
"It's difficult to explain. The closest I've come is that the fourth dimension is sort of like potentianlity. Sometimes, anyway," he said. "It's just the rain." He followed the curve of an obvious shape. "A flower."
That definitely did not look like a flower.

Cody paused. He squinted at the painting, but he didn't see a flower. Huh. "Uh..." He shook his head. "I can't see it," he admitted. "I bet it's beautiful, though. All your paintings are."

"No, I don't imagine that you can," Dari said. It wasn't condescending, just truth! He finished a few more strokes, wiped a daub with his finger, and then turned to Cody.
"Do you still want to go to the zoo?"

"Yeah, let's go," Cody said, and offered Dari his hand. "Let's go see the butterfly house. They close it soon, because it's getting cooler." He didn't think the butterflies would live much longer. Huh. That was a depressing thought.
"What else would you like to see?"

After all, he had been to the zoo at least once before, and after you went once, it was memorized.

When Cody was around, he always locked the door. He'd even packed some biohazard bags into Cody's bathroom just in case. It hadn't happened yet, but he was aware that it could.
This time, though, he was at home. Maia didn't like seeing him purge so he did close the door most of the way, but there was no point in locking it, right? He had taken his ring off and was calmly forcing waste material to his forearm. He did wonder if he could do all of this in human form, but really didn't relish the idea of pain during the process.

Cody was carrying a large teddy bear when he was invited inside. He felt bad about the other day. Dari had been so upset and he'd made it worse, at least until they'd gone to the zoo.
"I think he's in the bathroom," Maia said, "Do you want any tea?"
"Nah," Cody shook his head. "I'll go check on him." He walked over towards the bathroom. He knocked, and the door swung open further.

It was a reasonable reaction, considering that the most controversial thing Dari could be doing in the bathroom was showering for fun and Cody was his fiancee, after all.
Unfortunately, as the door swung open, Dari was drawing a blade down the side of his forearm into the bucket with the biohazard bag, turned to see Cody, initially did not react at all, and then went wide-eyed as it drained.
