Cabron LaSwan Dulnair Cabron LaSwan I want a tablet.
So glad Christmas is coming. [iBEAUTUIFULJKLDFmg]http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lqqyth30qO1qixc9q.gif[/I'MA HARDLY BOI img] HAY. HAY. HAY. HAY. DO YOU WANT TABLET ADVICE? HAY. HAY. DO YOU? HAY. HAY. HAAYAAAAAAY. um, sure, what's the best one that works with XP? I'm looking at the Bamboo Fun something or other just for starting out. Bamboos are good as first-time tablets, and are the cheapest. All of Wacom's tablets work with XP, too, or I'd be screwed. :I Just make sure to update the drivers whenever you start having problems. Dunno about competitors or buying used. I've never really had to shop for another tablet since this Graphire has lasted for almost ten years now. Wacom makes them super sturdy. It cost me $99, as much as a Bamboo Fun did (or a Bamboo Capture, now). Idk what happened to the Bamboo Fun, since it's not on their website. The Bamboo Connect is $20 bucks cheaper, but I'd go with the Bamboo Capture just because it's got multi-touch. Like, seriously, that would save me so much time in paintings if I could just use my fingers to move things around and zoom. 8I Do waaant. Also, it comes with Photoshop Elements, which is a nice little program. But if you're used to the GIMP or something, then it's not terribly important. And the biggest model, the Bamboo Create, seems kind of eh for doubling the price. The larger workspace is nice, but not really something you need when starting out. My tablet is smaller than even the Bamboo Capture, and I've been happy with that for ages. And getting Corel Painter Essentials along with the bigger tablet is also bleh, just because it sucks. Mine came with it, and I uninstalled it. If you want to paint, just load/create brushes in Photoshop or GIMP. Also, you'll never have to buy batteries for the pen, 'cuz of technological voodoo that wikipedia can tell you more about. It's pretty nice. The tablet itself is wired in, unless you buy the wireless accessory ($40) for it. :I I can't find anything about the Bamboo cord's length, but my tablet has a long enough cord that I can plug it in and have it sit in my lap. It just gets tangled with my earphones sometimes. >:I I figure you could just buy a usb extension cord if it was too short and you didn't want to spend the extra money. Just found this on Wikipedia: Quote: Several Wacom models, including the Intuos4 and Bamboo, have been criticized for the drawing surface's roughness, which rapidly wears down nibs and can result in uneven wear patterns, leaving slick and non-slick areas. Fortunately, being made of nothing more than plastic, nibs can be replaced by a short length of nylon 'wire' (approx 0.065 inches or 1.7mm diameter) like that found in grass trimmer or 'weed-eater' refills, suitably straightened out by hand and smoothed (rounded off) at one end with abrasive paper. Also there was a huge post about this I made ages ago that I am too lazy to find.

Yeah, the only reason I wanted it was because of the bigger surface area. I guess it doesn't really matter how big it is, though. I have USB ports in the front of my computer, so even a cord under a foot would probably still sufficeOH HEY THEY ARE GREEN whichever it is I am getting the green one. biggrin
