Melanie swallowed nervously as Natasha put her hand on the hilt of her own sword.
"Um, somewhat..."

Storm laughed.
"Somewhat won't hack it here. Natasha, why won't you show Mel what's what?"
She produced a blood orange from who knows where and was peeling it carefully.

Melanie looked at Storm, pleading with her to tell Natasha not to kill her. "Storm!" She said through her teeth as she quickly pulled off her boot and carefully took out the sword from her leg. She put the boot back on and waited nervously.

Natasha raised an eyebrow.
"You have to remove your boot to get it out? That's hardly going to protect you if you get ambushed."
She slowly unsheathes her own sword, noticing the nervousness on Melanie's face.
"Don't worry, I won't kill you."
She slowly steps towards the young girl before swinging the sword swiftly at her.

Melanie nodded slowly, then dodged her first attack; her eyes never left Natashas' as she swung her sword at her again. Melanie caught her sword with her own then pushed her away.

Natasha smiled, stepping away from the young girl and twirling her sword at a speed slightly faster than any normal human should be capable of.
"You can just about defend yourself from a simple attack, but how are your attacking skills?"
Her eyes glinted red for a split-second as she smirked at the girl. The twirling sword stopping suddenly as she readied herself.

Storm laughed.
"Don't be such a show off, Natasha. She's just a human. Try not to maim the pretty little peach."
She popped a slice of the blood orange into her mouth, chewing the crimson flesh gently.

"Why do you think I stopped attacking her? She proved to me that she could block my weakest attacks, which is more than what you'd get from most the drunkards in this place. She can defend herself to a point, I just want to see if her attack is stronger."
She smiles, not taking her eyes off Melanie.

Melanie tried to keep up with Natashas' sword as it spun around, but she just became dizzy. She blinked and tried to regain her composure before her gaze flicked to Storm, her eyes pleading with her. She didn't really want to do this-her attack was probably worse than her defense-because she hadn't practiced in awhile. Just to get it over with, Melanie swung her sword at Natasha's stomach, which she blocked, then swung again hitting her blade on the other side. She stepped back, then lunged forward, swinging the blade at Natashas' feet.

Natasha swung her sword down, blocking the attack, and with the two swords still connected she moved it up and out to the side with such speed that she caused Melanie to turn round. With the young girl's back to her she pulled her closer to her body and put her sword to her throat.
"I think you need to work on your attack."
She whispered into Melanie's ear before releasing her and sheathing her sword.

Melanie froze as she felt the sword at her throat, then let out her breath when Natasha released her. She swallowed, and with a shakey hand she laid the sword on the ground.
"Aye." She said quickly.

Surprise, surprise. Natasha won. Storm rolled her eyes and popped another slice of orange into her mouth.
"Why do you look so glum, Mel? Natasha isn't going to hurt you. She's just like a porcupine; you just need to rub her the right way. Orange?"
She offered Melanie a slice of her blood orange.
"It's nice and sweet."

Melanie rolled her eyes at Storm as she walked over her way.
"Because if we hadn't met, she'd probably have run me through." Mel paused and held out her hand. "I suck...." She muttered under her breath as she took the orange and ate it. "Thanks." She said as she sat down next to Storm.

"I rarely swordfight. If you'd annoyed me and I hadn't met you then you'd be experiencing a lot of heat on your feets."
A flame danced in the palm of Natasha's hand as she said this.
