Flicking her ears the zebra caught another sound, turning her head she located the area from where the sound came. Feeling that distinct unease of being hunted a panic rose in her chest. She pawed the ground some more and let out a soft neigh of fear. Baking up further from the noise, she inhaled the scents from around her, a distinct smell came to her.
Lion...

A low growl emitted from the black maw, crystal white teeth showing, a small bit of drool glistening on the revealed canine. He crouched down on all fours, inching his way closer to the zebra, slowly making his way through the brush. His tail flicked ever so slightly, the only part of his body moving visibly when the remainder of the body was held still.

Stomping the ground and flicking her tail, she reared on her hind legs. Dropping back down on her forelegs, she shook her head, causing dust to fly from her mane. Turning on her heels, she began to run.

Zangu leapt up and followed chase, intent on reaching her. He did his best to not bother too many plants though, not knowing what could be in them. (Butterflies! gonk Or pretty flowers!! *bricked* x_x; ) He was slowly getting furter behind though, being the cubby male lion that he was.

((How is he chubby if he can't catch food? xd ))
Running from the lion now at full speed she raced away from the slowing predator. Turning a corner she came face to face with a waterfall, rearing she tried turning the other way.
But the lion had already turned the corner...

(He's...lucky? XD)
Zangu growled and lowered his front half while his tail flicked behind him. Might as well have a little fun before it was all over. He inched his was closer to the zebra, loving the smell of fear and panic in the air.

The lion was inching forward, clearly having fun in her state of panic. Kicking out with her hind legs she caught the lion on the nose, then turned and reared.

Maji opened his mouth as if to speak but his ears swivled forward at the sound of a frigtened creature, he turned his head quickly just in time to see a blur of white and black racing from yet another blur of white and black. The fur along his back stood on end as he saw to his horror a rouge male lion- a tower of muscle and claws... he was after one of the zebra... those poor creatures. They were such happy things too, always willing to laugh and play with Maji. He turned back to the female, his heart pounding hard against his chest, "You stay here, I swear I'll be right back. Continue on if you wish." With that he turned and bounded easily and swiftly down the rocks and leapt to the ground, racing after the two blurs. Something inside of him was screaming in terror, questioning his actions. They were by the waterfall- very close to where they had been. The female would be safe in the mist with her coat and he highly doubted a male that large could easily scale the slippery rocks.
Maji let out a pathetic roar- he'd never even attempted such a noise in his life- and shot inbetween the zebra and the male lion, his fur bristeling up along his neck and back. His claws dug into the ground and he did his best to show his fangs. He'd not let another zebra be slain- they deserved to live happily here. Glancing back just slightly he saw that this was one he wasn't aquanted with. Now and then he had seen her with the heard but she never came close to him. It wasa bit unsetteling- he had thought for a moment that she was one of his friends... one that he would have to save. Not that he didn't want her to live as well but now that he saw his perdiciment he realized how stupid his actions were.
"Stay your paw from this kindly grazer intruder!", he said as loud and as powerfully as he could manage, lifting his head to look the male in the eye, "If you are hungry the rivers are full of fish- there is no need to slay this mere!"

Layla's black nose stuck through a patch of shrubbery, sniffing what she thought could be dinner near the river's edge. Montsho had given her more and more freedom to venture off lately knowing Layla was still far too frightened of the area to stray too far. The small lioness kept low to the ground, her head emerging slowly through the leaves, shifting the foliage as silently as possible. When her entire head had successfully poked through she took a rather disappointed look around, her purple eyes peering in dismay at the area...maybe it was hiding...whatever it was anyway...she still couldn't figure out the mysterious smell.

Some time has past ((since I last RPed. xd )) and Kota has grown from a bumbling young cub into a hansome juvenile (( wink )). And so it was on this day that he lounged on a rock somewhere nearby, chewing delicately at the meat of some small animal that he had just caught. His snow white coat would have been visible from far away, if not for the tall foliage that grew around him.

Layla's curiousity toward the smell persisted as she edged ever farther out the bush, standing in open view before the river's side, nose in the air as she took a deep breath and began to sneak off toward the patch of tall grass, her stomach was close the ground as she edged closer, a peculiar wind that had blown the scent toward her had strangely changed and pushed her forward.

An elegant zebra idly grazed on a patch of grass beside the gentle whisperings of the river. Head lowered as it chomped the tasteless grass, it ignored the senses that told it that predators were nearby. Some would argue its stripes were a complete giveaway of its whereabouts; again, this youthful zebra ignored that.

The smell of meat was too close to his nose, or Kota would have noticed the scent of another lion near by. But the wind shifted, and his ears flicked as he heard the slight sound of rustling leaves. Having lived alone since as long as he could remember, Kota has had to survive on his own and his senses were a bit sharper than average. But still... was he imagining things? No, can't be. There it was again. He lifted his head, his blue eyes alert. He would run if he had to, if it was something bigger than him. But he'd rather not. Food was hard to come by sometimes, and he really didn't want to waste such good meat.

After taking a few tentative sips from the babbling river, the zebra looked up, trotting around, tail swishing warily. It didn't plan to be caught by a predator...
After a few moments, she went back to grazing.

Layla, stuck her nose directly through the tall grass and went even further until her small back muzzle and purple eyes stared up at the white lion with great surprise. Almost instantaneosly she back up, rolling over a few times in the unnoticed zebras direction.
Such great possibilities...though she'll have to be broken of that stupid fear...tsk tsk tsk...
The odd voice was barely audible but was carried on the wind for all around to hear.
