everybody good news i talked to someone from gamesworkshop and he said the tau were so popular that next year we r ghetting loads of new stuff liek three new mercenary groups and some new unitis to add to the pack and even some hand-to-had combat units. its gonna be freaking awsome

actually you're wrong, the tau are geting a redo but not because they were so popular, but because they WERENT popular! GW would have to consider the army a failure because almost nobody plays them. "why" you say? because they are a hard army to learn, really hard, most players will get their asses royaly handed to them in their first few games and simpley hate the army. think about it the army is only 3 years old and they are ALREADY geting an entirely new Codex!

any way, this is what i heard will be in the thing:
1. about 80 percent of the troops in the book will be changed

2.marker lights will do more but for only one of your units, they will now -1 leadership to the unit you target and allow one of your own units +1 balistic skill against that target (keep in mind that you can target a unit with mulitple markerlights for massive ld loss)

3.they will have MANY pinning weapons (will will be deadly when used in combination with the markerlight's LD negatives)

4. i belive they will get combat doctorines so that you can customize the army

5.there will be a new flying Mercinary

6.battle suits will get better but i don't know how yet

Vespids are among the Mercenary Groups.

The Battle Suits Were Disgusting in that They are simply More Expensive Versions Of Terminator Suits.

Also, Rumours Are That A Type Of Dwarves Are A New Mercenary Group, As The New Incarnation Of The Squats.

It Said Somewhere That They Were DemiUrg, And Are Affiliated With The Tau Somehow.

Some of the places, but most of that info was replaced by Messages saying that they were taken down due to some sort of message from GW Legal Department.

I've heard they have a Tau codex in line for revision, but I can't confirm it.

Okay, Person by person.

Nucleawinter: Last rumor I heard Markerlights will let you at +1 to a Tau unit's BS, OR -1 to the unit's Ld for Pinning checks, OR allow you to bypass a target prioity check. I've heard nothing on doctrines or on new pinning weapons. I think it'd be nice to have them, but I doubt the Tau will get them. The Vespid has been confirmed, even showcased at a recent event. The base cost of Crisis suits is being dropped, but weapon costs are being adjusted, so while some loadouts may get cheaper, I expect Plasma Rifles will be more expensive.

OfWenzel: the Demiurg have been affiliated with Tau for some time in Battlefleet Gothic. I've seen a single clay bust and one design sketch of a Demiurg in rumors forums. However, I have heard nothing of plans to introduce tabletop versions of them. In all likelyhood, the sketch is just something for the fluff in the codex.

Trollfar: There will be a new codex. However, it's not out yet. We are discussing the numerous leaks and rumors about what is in it.

DarkElf27: It's pretty much been confirmed that Tau are the next codex release after the Black Templar.

Well you'll still need that codex at least until Feb, Possibly even til April. Besides, it's always good to have the older versions of codicies. They make good references. Besides, this way you'll still have the stats for Aun'shi, as it's been indicated that he's no longer a special character in the new codex.

Big Anti-Armor Rumor leak(heard from an anomynous GW staff member): One of the mercenary units will have a S3 AP1 Weapon.

I'm not putting much stock in any stat rumors at the moment. You're probably referring to the Vespid's Neutron Rifle. I've heard rumors put this gun all over the map. I've heard S2 counting as S8 for instakill with a flamer template, S5 AP3 12" Assault 1, , S5 AP3 24" Assault 2, and now S3 AP1.

My local hobby store is going to be holding a 40k tournament, and i need to put together a 750 point list. My opponents will probably be a couple Blood Angel armies, some Ultramarines, a mechanized Tau army, and either Dark Angels or Necrons. What do you guys reccomend i take in my army? My idea was for a Hammerhead with an ion cannon, a broadside or two, lots of stealth, and perhaps some crisis, in addition to the standard fire warriors.
