Mat you run the risk of getting wiped out every turn but thats what makes the game fun. I guess so. I always think the game is the most fun when the enemies assualt forces get bogged down trying to cut through 60 guardsmen while being unable to get at the powerfist tearing them apart. But to each his own. I might have come across as a bit pushy towards my type of imperial guard army and I realize that my sea of men approach might not appeal to everybody but I know that I made a ton of mistakes in my first couple tries with an imperial guard army and I feel as though I should warn against tank heavy armies and the use of stormtroopers in any facility other than proxying regular imperial guardsmen.

We all have our own vision of how we want our Imperial Guard army to be, some want it to be the classic infantry based army, with the highest amount of troops, others prefer mechanized while most prefer the basic Guard force with alot of troops and some vehicles.
Or heaven forbid (Or so non-Guard players tell me), you field an Armoured Company, nerf everybody just hearing about it and then get branded as a cheese cake b*****d son.

Yeah im definately leaning towards an Armoured Company the might rush me with 60 assualt troop but my 3 inferno cannons 2 battle cannon and demolisher cannon, should cut that number down quite a bit before they get to me. Now anyways from my prospective i might buy enough Guard to change out between armour and troops

(I went kinda nuts with my wages...) 2 leman russ, 1 demolisher, 6 sentinels, 1 hellhound, 1 baslisk, and soon to be 1 chimera. I also have 50 storm troopers, 60 guardsmen, 3 command squads (2 for intanftry platoon, one for command platoon) 10 xenos mounted rough riders, 10 hardened vets, 1 fire support squad. I.. uhh. I think that's all *nod*

My aim is to soon complete my 3.000 pts. Infantry Company. Just a few more additions and I can call it complete. For this force I used the Cadian doctrines.
HQ. is a single command platoon with AT-squad (3 lascannons and Sharpshooters), a fire support squad (3 autocannons and Sharpshooters), a mortar squad and a special weapons squad with three sniper rifles. The HQ is led by a Senior Officer (Carapace, power weapon, plasma pistol and Iron Discipline), two veterans (Standard bearer and veteran) and two guardsmen with grenade launchers. I added a psyker as a funny test, to see how useful such a freak could be.
Elites is made up of two storm trooper squads, each capable of deep-striking / infiltrating, depending on mission. One is tooled up for anti-armour with two plasma guns and the other for anti-infantry with a flamer and grenade launcher.
I've maxed out the Troops choices by fielding three infantry platoons, two armoured fists squads and a conscript platoon. Each platoon has three squads (1st sqd. with flamer - 2nd sqd. with gren. launcher and heavy bolter - 3rd sqd. with gren. launcher and missile launcher) and the command squads are also designed to act as anchors of Leadership with fire support. The AF squads are for counter-assault or tank hunting, both outfitted with meltaguns, missile launchers and a veteran sergeant, as these squads more often then not are outside of the command bubble. The conscript platoon (30 men, 3 flamers) is designed to keep objectives occupied or to keep nasty enemies tied up for a short while. (A massive squad of 30 bodies can hold things down for some time)
Fast attack is made up of two Cadian pattern sentinels with extra armour and a Hellhound.
Heavy support are three Russ tanks, two normal each with three heavy bolters and a pintle-mount (A storm bolter and on the other a heavy stubber). The Demolisher is tooled up with plasma cannons, a lascannon and heavy stubber, has a rough terrain mod and extra armour. This tank is designed to be a fire magnet and object of terror. It's superior side armour makes it very durable.
The strength of the force lies in strong numbers and superior (Non-Guard players read: cheesy) fire power, with the possible ability of having a long term staying effect, where a really high amount of casualties are needed to deny the ability of claiming locations or objectives.
I personally am not much of a waster when it comes to wargear, I outfit the squads and characters with the bare minimum as possible, to save up as many points as possible for other things. By doing so I am able to field 205 men, six tanks and two walkers. The Demolisher is msot likely the most expensive unit around while the Sentinels are the cheapest.

Lt_Brookman HQ. is a single command platoon with AT-squad (3 lascannons and Sharpshooters), a fire support squad (3 autocannons and Sharpshooters), a mortar squad and a special weapons squad with three sniper rifles. The HQ is led by a Senior Officer (Carapace, power weapon, plasma pistol and Iron Discipline), I've never found a power weapon in the hands of an imperial guard to be that fearsome. A powerfist though is something that I've always found to make even space marines tremble in terror Quote: two veterans (Standard bearer and veteran) and two guardsmen with grenade launchers. I added a psyker as a funny test, to see how useful such a freak could be. Unless you violate your ideas about minimizing wargear the pyskers you take are going to be pretty worthless. I've given my boy an honorific and a force weapon and he has been know to kill Carnafixs and lictors in a single turn. And I have used the random power once. I would try and use that doctrine for ratlings and see which would be more effective, your support squad or the equivalent points in ratlings. You'll probaly get more sniper rifles with the ratlings
