Alright, a thread to the Orks. Although flipping though it looks like there is a very low opinion of the green guys. I myself am an Ork player of 2500 points and about three years. I actually find them to be great fun and a good relief from all of the other armies. I mean seriously you look at any other army and unless you have started some sort of custom chapter they are all uniform and have to look the same. I'm sorry, but personally I believe that individuality is nice, even if it does take a little bit longer to paint them all.

The Orks are basically the fun army in which almost anything goes as long as it looks believable and has a nice couple of paint coats. I mean I have guys with walker bases for legs and hooks for hands (I promise you all pictures), in other armies you couldn't do such a thing because A) it would have to, I mean have to look neat and fitting with the army where as Orks are hardy and can weather out something crude and B) logically most other races would have the injured die off because they cannot heal fast enough. In quite a literal sense almost anything can be done with Orks. Even feral Orcs can work well with 40k Orks because they work with the same basic pieces. Personally I love my Orks and wouldn't switch them for another army in the world, the extra time on customisation makes them interesting and personalized where as anyone can paint four colors on a Space Marine the difficulty is in how well you do it.

I will cover other aspects latter on.

I want a grot catapult. Until I can use exploding grots as an ordinance weapon, I'm going on a hunger strike. xp

Ironically, the only artillery piece I didn't scan yesterday is the squig catapult.

Honestly, it's just too fantasy. I want big, wacky guns. It's much more full to teleport psychopathic snotlings into a space marine's pants than anything else, really. (Yes, that's the actual function of the shokk attack gun, which isn't strictly artillery but still...)

the Shokk attack gun is the scariest thing I've ever seen. Well heard of. Whatever. I have the second edition codex, and it talks about that thing.

Talk about wanting a quick death. Thats gotta be horrible...

Which of those two is the shokk gun, and also then, what is the other?

You can always use Grot Bomb Launchas.

They seem like they'd be a shoe-in for the next ork codex.

Neither.

The first is the bubble-chukka, which targets a building or vehicle and surrounds it with tiny force field bubbles which combine into one large one. At least, theoretically. You don't know until the vehicle goes to fire or is fired upon - your opponent doesn't even know what you targeted! The subjected vehicle can move without issue, but when it goes to fire or be fired at, you roll to see if the bubble was successful. 1-4 nothing happened. 5-6 the target was bubbled. If it is being fired on, the shots are deflected. If it is firing, the shot rebounds and hits the vehicle instead. Bubbled vehicles and buildings cannot be entered or left. Troops inside are trapped inside, and troops outside are prevented from entering. The bubble lasts hours - Orks use this to capture vehicles and slaves.

The second is the lifta-droppa (aka, the Hand of Gork) which does exactly what you might assume.

This is the shokk attack gun in action:

forge word is awsome, but so expensive crying

Yeah, the price is what makes it not "awesome..."

Plus, it just means you'll have the same "custom" model as anybody else who bought it on that site.
