*Maggie tilts her head up again to look at him. She wasn't quite crying, but there are tears in her eyes* Bard . . ?

*Bard crouches so that he's at eye leve with Maggie, their faces just inches apart. There are tears in his eyes also* I promise you... I will help you find them. I promise you.

Bard . . . *She whispers his name, overcome. Part of her is almost afraid to hope, afraid of what they might find, but at the same time . . . the idea of seeing them again . . . the tears in her eyes spill over onto her cheeks.* Do ye really think we might . . . ?
*But he must believe it's possible, for him to promise her like that. And suddenly, looking into his eyes, Maggie loves him more than she ever has before. She lifts her hand to stroke his cheek gently* Oh, Bard I . . .

*Bard leans closer, pressing his lips tenderly against hers. His hand slides from between her shoulder blades, down the contour of her shape to rest against the small of her back*

*Maggie trembles slightly as their lips meet, at the touch of his hand along her back, just from the intensity of all that she's feeling in this moment. She slides her arms around his neck, lacing her fingers through his hair, and kisses him deeply in return*

*Bard slides his free hand through her hair, down her neck to her collar bone. He inhales the scent of her, intoxicated by her warmth and nearness. His kiss deepens, becoming fervent, hungry*

*Maggie shivers again, her heart hammering. Being held, being touched, being kissed like this . . . it's thrilling and frightening all at once. Her mind and heart and body are all sending her different messages, and she doesn't know which to listen to. Still, she can't bring herself to let go of him*

*Bard cups her face again, his lips slide from hers to hover inches from her ear. He whispers* Don't you think we should get more comfortable?

*Maggie's heart skips a beat within her chest. Flushed and breathless, she forces the rational voice at the back of her mind into silence and clings to him, a soft, pleading noise escaping her lips*

*It's all the affirmation Bard needs. He scoops her into his arms and carries her away from the window, pausing only to dim the lights.*
*Rain pelts against the window of the room--lightning flickers--as they move toward the cool, silky sheets of the waiting bed.*

**Enter Ashe from Main Room 677**
*Ashe follows the thermal readout down the hall to Room #22. It looks like there are two people in this room. Cautiously, he tries the door but finds it locked. It's an old fashioned sort of door with a mechanical lock instead of a digital key. He might be able to pick it given the right tools, but he thinks better of it.*
*He continues down the hall toward the other heat signature. He stops outside Room #37, tries the door again. Also locked. He taps thermal imaging off irritably and glances down at the key in his hand.*
*If he had a room, where would it be?*
*He sets off down the hall.*

:::Cora was startled awake by the sound of someone at her door...:::
Hm...?
:::Whoever it was didn't make it in, but she was awake now, and curious. Wiping the sleep from her eyes, she turned on some lights, and headed to the door. Opening just slightly, and eventually poking her head out, she looked around...no one:::
Hhmm....
:::She stepped out and looked down the hall where she could hear distant footsteps. I hope no one is in trouble...if they were trying MY door... maybe someone's lost?:::

*Ashe reaches the door to Room #66 and notes that it has a familiar key interface. He tries his key and the hatch springs open. Tentatively, he wanders inside*

:::Cora can hear the sound of a door opening on the opposite side of the long hall, one corridore down. She imagines who ever it was found their way. She rubs her eyes again, yawns...retightens the sheets over herself, and walks sleepily back to her bed:::

*In Room #22, the rain has stopped falling on the streets of New York. An eerie predawn stillness has crept over the city in the window, the sky tinged with the murky brightness of pre-dawn. Bard sits in his office chair, dressed in his pants, half-concentrating on the pen and paper in his hands. He glances occassionally out the window. He's never seen daylight out that window. Perhaps the room, sensing his distaste for the noise and bustle of the city morning has spared him that. Or perhaps he's never been present to see it*
*He glances over at the bed, where Maggie lies sleeping. He'd like to wake her up, but he fears she gets little enough sleep in her own time. He'd rather let her have her rest when she can find it.*
*He goes back to focusing on the words on the page*
