I started playing the bassoon about a month ago, and alot of people think i'm way to tiny to play it. xD I played the flute in jazz band before i played bassoon, so it's alot different for me. ._.

@Terra of the Lilies
Yeah, getting lessons from upperclassmen is a cheap alternative since they usually don't make you pay for them, LOL! And congratulations! I hope you do well!
@XxKatieKatxX
My best advice is to practice. That's how you get to know your instrument better and investing in lessons is also a good idea. If you look at what I was telling Terra of the Lilies, getting lessons from upperclassmen is great. A lot of upperclassmen are willing to help you, but be careful since some might be angry face and be like "go get lessons at the music store." since that's what they did, most likely.

Holy s**t I just realized that. LOL. It didn't take me long to get vibrato on my flute but I'm probably going to have to play for like years on bassoon. Dx

Bassoon power!!! I've been playing since 6th grade and play trombone during marching season. Switching between bassoon and any brass instrument is hard!

I think this is cool, I didn't know so many people played bassoon. I'm the only one that plays it at my high school, and there's one middle schooler that plays it.

I started on oboe and learned flute for marching season, but I'm the wierd one at my school. The other oboists learned saxaphone.

Hi people. I'm going to start oboe sometime next semester, and I am going to have probably a day to learn. I'm going to take two bands, which means somehow I have to get two instruments home, or neglect poor claribelle(my clarinet)
Any tips for starting oboe? And what size reed should I start with(I don't have a private reed maker, so I'm stuck with uber expensive storebrand)
