Asher awkwardly ate the rest of his sandwich, trying to keep his mind off what he had just done. A part of him told him that it was because of Leo's confession, that he was acting so strangely because of his brother, but he didn't want to blame him. Another part of him told him that Leo probably liked being licked, but that hardly made any sense. He tried to tell himself that it wasn't anything. It was simply a spur of the moment thing, though he could have just wiped away the crumbs with hands rather than lick them off. His pounding heart didn't help with his confusion.

Leo finished his sandwich and was quite full since they put a lot in that sandwich to make it more filling but there was still the matter of the awkwardness between the two of them. So to break the silence, Leo used his hands to find his brother's face, leaning over him and giving his brother a complimentary lick on his cheek as well.

Well, at least Asher now knew that Leo at least hadn't minded. With a bashful smile, he embraced his brother and nuzzled his hair. "Thanks, Leo," he said, though he wasn't sure why he was thankful. Maybe it was relief that his impulsive action wasn't received with disgust. That pesky part of his mind kept telling him that Leo must have enjoyed it somehow, but he pushed the thought away so it wouldn't ruin the mood.

Leo gave a soft giggle at his brothers actions, he just felt like he needed to be playful for a little bit and make his brother not feel so embarrassed for his actions. "You're welcome." he said softly before he went back to eating a little. His hands found a little bowl with plastic wrap over the top, once he removed the plastic wrap his nose told him it was fruit salad.

The smell of fresh fruit caught Asher's curiosity and he saw that Leo had gotten some fruit salad. Immediately, he picked up a grape that had been at the side and held it up to his brother's lips. "Open your mouth," he said, partly expecting Leo to question him. Ever since he tricked him into eating an eraser on April Fool's day, Leo no longer seemed to trust him whenever he told him to open his mouth, if the thermometer the other day was any indication.

Leo hesitated for a moment when he was told to open his mouth, ever since that April fool's day he's been skeptical about what Ash puts into his mouth, even more so now that he couldn't see what he was trying to put into his mouth. Leo moved his face toward the grape to press his lips against it, feeling the cool round fruit and judging that it was indeed edible. Leo opened his mouth for his brother.

As expected, Leo was hesitant, but his wariness was rather cute. Asher slipped the fruit into his brother's mouth, suddenly feeling as if he was feeding a kitten. "That wasn't so bad now, was it?" he chuckled, picking up a strawberry now. He then pressed that against Leo's lips as silent communication that it was a strawberry this time.

Leo gave his brother a little glare. "Yeah, this time." he mumbled softly before he chewed and swallowed the grape before he felt the familiar texture of the strawberry, one of his favorite fruits. Leo opened his mouth and took a bite of the berry, thinking it probably still had some of the stem attached. "Mmmm I love strawberries." he said happily.

"I know," Asher said as he picked up another strawberry for Leo once he finished the first one. "I need to find a strawberry cake soon. It's been forever since you had one, right? I think they should still have that really fancy-looking kind I told you about." That cake had been really expensive, now that he thought about it. Maybe he could consider buying it later. Right now, he needed to worry about how he was going to raise money for the rent.

Leo smiled as he took a bite out of another strawberry as he listened to his brother, he remembered the cake Ash he was talking about. It was a cake his brother saw in a bakery display window but bakery cakes were usually a little on the spendy side. "Yeah, that would be nice one of these days. We could go to the bakery and have some cake and tea." he said with a small smile as he swallowed his mouth full of strawberry.

"Maybe put on a fake British accent while we're at it. Pretend to be fancy," Asher continued, using such an accent to emphasize the last word. He then leaned back against the pillow and sighed. "I don't look forward to going back to work... I know being in the hospital sucks and my back hurts like hell, but I at least got some sleep." It was times like these that he wished he still attended school. Sure, it was boring, but at least he didn't have to stay there all afternoon.

Leo didn't understand why Ash had to bring down the mood so often, why couldn't he just enjoy the time they had together? "Why don't you go back to school? I mean, I know we need to pay rent but if we get a place with the neighbors then maybe you could have a little part time job on the side while your going to school!" he suggested, thinking it was a rather good idea, though he knew his brother would still be very busy but at least Ash would enjoy what he was doing.

"It sounds like an idea, though I'll need to find a good community college," Asher said, "but if I go back to school, you'll need an education, too. We can probably get you a tutor or something." Even now, education was very important to him. It was like a key component for a better and maybe more interesting life, though he was already content just being with his little brother. It was just depressing to think that all he would ever do was work and go home and all Leo might ever do would be to stay home. It was a monotonous and boring life, to say the least. Well, lately everything had gone crazy what with all they've been through, but it surely wouldn't last very long.

Leo smiled. "I'll even go to public school again if they'll let me in. I think a special school for the blind would be way too expensive. I think it would be fun if we both went to school together." he said happily, finishing his fruit salad and finally having enough. Leo hopped down from the bed and placed his tray on the counter before he got back onto the bed with his brother. "You've hardly eaten anything, you need to eat something before the surgery." Leo said a bit worriedly.

"I'm fine, Leo. I ate a turkey sandwich already," Asher assured him. "You know I never had much of an appetite. I'm sure I can survive a surgery with only a sandwich." He took Leo's hand in his own and squeezed it. He wished there was more that he could do, but what options did he have as a bedridden hospital patient? "You've been worrying a lot lately. I thought it was supposed to be my job."
