Kasumi had propped herself up on her elbows as she watched the first and second creatures talk. Not a lot of it made sense to her though so she started to look around at the other Reapers. She hadn't gotten to talk to anyone, not really. As she pulled her self to her feet the creatures started to attack one another. The blond quickly grabbed her throwing star to help the feline like guide but before she could do anything her arms started to crumble and fall off.
She was frozen and could only stare at herself as the cracks continued on her body. At first she was horrified but then the first creature spoke again and all she felt was acceptance. She had done her job and like the guide her time had come. Those were her last thoughts before the world faded.

she could hear the battling, but it was muffled. Her vision had already been blurred and compromised, and her senses were faltering. Bea stared straight up, laying on her back, motionless, eyelids heavy. She couldn't feel her feet, or fingers.... It was so painful and uncomfortable.
She wanted to cry, she really did, but nothing she did made the liquid slip along her eyes. But none of that seemed to matter now, the remaining skeletal cats that were slowly fading away giving a echoed, and distant meow, before completely disappearing. Just as she felt herself do the same.

She really didn’t understand what the Thing and the creature—but it was more than that wasn’t it?—were talking about. To be honest? Calliope didn’t care. “I did well?” she murmured, lips twisting into a sneer as she stood by. As if she wanted to hear that from the Thing. So what now? The question rang in her empty head and she hummed. What now, indeed?
Fight. It was the only answer that echoed back.
Calliope tried to raise an arm, brandish her sword to the enemy, but froze suddenly. Her muscles spazzed, her hold on the pistol sword crumbling until the metal clattered to the floor. “Hey…” Trembling hands reached for the sides of her head as her world flickered into monochrome. “No, don’t…!”
It was like she could hear the sickening sound of her body cracking, bit by bit. She wanted to shout, scream, but she found she could no longer control her voice box as she fell to the ground. At least, she tried to. Just one touch between her knees and the floor and it was enough to shatter her completely. No…

Tanith survived, for all the good it did her. What should have been a victory felt like defeat, for what had they gained? Nothing. They had only lost -- they had lost, not just her and Alice, but everyone, and the weight of that plural finally hit her at full speed as her narrow focus cleared away to look the other girls in the eyes as they fell. They collapsed one by one until they disappeared entirely, lost to the writhing black mist. They were so young, just like her, and she hated that she didn't know any of their names, but hated most of all that she couldn't save them.
Get up. She staggered to her feet. Each movement felt like she was breaking a little bit more. Further away, she heard other voices: Fuzzy Thing and the witch. They were saying something, but it made too little sense for Tanith to care; answers didn't matter now when all she wanted to do was fight.
Tanith reached for her bag, but just as her fingers brushed the handle, cracks raced up along her arm, through her sleeve and skin and her very being. She opened her mouth to scream, but nothing came, and Fuzzy Thing was falling, too, and she couldn't believe its words because she didn't do a good job, she didn't make a difference -- they were all dying and she wasn't strong enough to protect a single one of them.
She didn't want to stop fighting. She wanted to fight, wanted to go out screaming, kicking, saving someone... anyone...
Not like this, broken and defeated, her entire existence rendered meaningless as she disappeared into nothing.

The scene that unfolded before her eyes made about as much sense as anything else. Ally felt as though she should do something, but what exactly, she didn't know. She would not have been much help in her current condition, would she?
The words she heard, were they meant to be a comfort? In some way, being told she'd done well was. In some small way. Was it enough to let her be at peace? She couldn't be sure.
She also couldn't move. She tried. The was over, but as long as she could fight....Yet she couldn't. She couldn't move, couldn't speak. Was this what she wanted? No, this hadn't been her wish. She wondered what her wish had been.
Ally was breaking, falling, and she wanted to remember. She shattered, and was no more.

When the cat-goblin-thing joined the fight, Tara tried to push the other girls behind her - not that it worked very well, as she was younger and weaker than both of them. She just... if she'd taken this all on to save a friend, she couldn't bear the thought of losing any more.
It hadn't even occurred to her that it might be too late regardless.
She barely had time to notice the cracks begin to widen on the other girls around her, before Tara realized that she was no longer able to move. As she fell over onto the ground, she saw that eerie black mist was pouring out of... and with horror, she realized it wasn't just cracks anymore. Her arm had begun to shatter, to disappear, and it had already worked its way up to her elbow. She had fallen because her feet were gone. She tried to call out to Willow, to Taika, to the other girls that they had been talking with earlier... but she no longer could speak.
All that remained was a voice in her head.
< ... Don't worry everyone! You fought well, you did make a difference. I believe your wish has been fulfilled. Now there is one last thing you must do, do you remember what it is? >
As hard as she tried, she felt her thoughts fragmenting, drifting apart. One last thing she had to do? She barely could hold on to the words, she certainly couldn't remember what that thing was. She felt a moment of panic.
< It's okay, you don't have to fight any more. They're waiting for you now. You have fulfilled this contract. >
She managed to pull one last cohesive thought together, out of the quickly blurring muddle that remained. So does that at least mean that... that my friend's okay now?
And then her thoughts, like her, dissolved into mist.
Maria looked on in horror as the the fighting seemed to just get worse. Closing her eyes, she didn't know what to do. Were they even strong enough to face this thing? What would happen if they failed? What would happen if... No. No she couldn't think like that. Looking up, she watched in amazement as the little creature joined in the fight. When she saw the creature fighting for them, fighting to help them... She reached over to grab her staff but hunched over in pain. She had to try. To try to help... even if it only did a little good. Grabbing her staff, she managed to stand. Only to see the creature fall just as she made it too her feet. What now? What was the reason they were brought here? Why? It said they had been brought here to fight. But what was the point in fighting if they were all going to fall? She didn't say anything as she watched the creature from a distance. Was it just going to give up? What did it mean by her wish had been fulfilled. Had it? Had it really? The word protection came to her mind again. Had she fought to protect? Of was that just another illusion? Much like she was. Was she even real? Did she even exist? She looked down at a cracked had as her vision started to change. She could no longer see color. All she could see was a colorless mass of black and white. The beauty of the world was gone. Replaced. Then she could only watch in silent horror as her arms shattered off. She watched as they shattered and ceased to exist. An emptiness filled her as she felt her self falling. Falling into darkness. She didn't even feel the impact of the ground. All she could think about was everything that had happened. Waking up, meeting new friends, learning a power she never even knew she had, and fighting to protect... something. All of it... was a lie... she never even existed...

It was a promise. Aria wasn't going to leave her all alone. There were others. As if to prove that hope hadn't died for the firey young lady, it welled up again. "Then I won't either." said Vatachi, as the embrace was ended and more of those things appeared. She could still fight, she could still kick a**, and now she had a ******** reason, oh yeah. She wasn't going to let these girls die, not now. Promises? the fluffy little b*****d had talked about promises. She didn't remember anything but a guess or a hunch, but now she had one. And it was one worth fighting for.
She sprang towards the nearest creature, renewed determination causing the motes of lotus pollen-y scent to swirl around her... and then it was destroyed in an epic attack by the creature.
She moved back to her newly proclaimed 'group', uncertain. What was this? Was it attacking the scary shadow stranger lady? Would it attack her? Her friends? Oh hell no. It wasn't getting it's paws anywhere near her friends, not on her ******** then it was defeated.
What the hell had just happened? She moved back towards Aria, staff up and ready when... Something in it's words seemed to click.
Wish? Contract? Fulfilled? What... She didn't understand, not at all. Not even when the cracks started spreading. Not even when the weapon fell out of her hands and crackled into nothingness. She looked in horror as Aria and the others also cracked and began to shatter.
No... NO. THEY HAD PROMISED. THEY HAD PROMISED NOT TO LEAVE HER. SHE HAD PROMISED NOT TO LEAVE THEM. WHY WERE THEY LEAVING. She wanted to scream, but nothing came out.
Aria's hands met hers, and Vatachi clasped it as tight as she could, as if she could hold her together with just that effort. They fell back, her free hand reaching back to catch them even as they both dissolved away. Vatachi couldn't take her eyes away from the sight of her... her FRIEND dissolving away.
Not until she herself was gone.

Tethys laid on the ground, her breathing shallow and weak. Early on in the fight, she had already suffered a great injury. Throughout the last half of the fight, her power has been steadily seeping out. She lasted this long only because of the faint glimmer of power left in the soul gem. Tears streamed down her face as she realized how useless she was. She was forced to face the fact that she was weak.
“This can’t be..”
This torture was beyond agonizing. Everyone had fought bravely for their wish only to come to such a tragic end. She could only stand by and watch as they collapsed and disappeared before her. As much as she wanted to help, she didn’t have the strength to move. “Damn this body!” She willed it to move, but nothing happened. It was heartbreakingly painful to watch, not to be able to do anything to help those around her.
“W-why..” She sobbed, her face contorting in an expression of despair as she cursed her miserable existence. She could not protect anyone. In the end, she has no one. She would die here, cold and alone. The thought scared her more than anything. That she would not ever know the feeling of loving or being loved. That she would never have the chance to find out. But before she could succumb to the darkness, a soft and comforting voice spoke to her.
<... Don't worry everyone! You fought well, you did make a difference. I believe your wish has been fulfilled. Now there is one last thing you must do, do you remember what it is? >
...
< It's okay, you don't have to fight any more. They're waiting for you now. You have fulfilled this contract. >
It broke through to her like no other. I-it was okay? They didn’t have to fight? At the mention of ‘they,’ she felt a pair of warm hands envelop her into the light. His words served to calm and sooth the chaos within her, bringing a sense of peace to her mind.
She did not know of the wish her spoke of, but in her next life.. “If there is a god, please..”
Her thoughts trailed off into silence as she disappeared, forever gone.
Keiko had survived the second attack while many around her fell in battle. Though she was covered in cracks, she somehow still stood. Others may have spoken to her, may have cried out, but she couldn't hear them any longer, she couldn't see them. It was as if nothing in the world existed but her and the creatures before her. She watched as the small creature who had first greeted her defeated several creatures but was then destroyed.
The girl felt mixed emotions then. Strange ones that she could not place. She tried to move, to battle one, to continue what she had started. Yet her vision began to blur, turning black and white. She looked down then as her arms finally shatter, no longer able to bear the cracks in her skin. Her legs gave in and she fell to the ground, shattering into nothingness.
She struck when necessary, and stepped from one side to the other when it was no longer in her interest to stand in one place, but no more introductions or inquiries or attempts at pleasant conversation came from her. At a glance, she might have seemed entirely absent, eyes wide and not quite focused, reflexes just a little off.
But her mind was hard at work, webs and flow charts of stories that could be happening, things that might have changed, ways she might have responded differently. She imagined conquering the things that hurt them, of knowing her wish, of ruling over the creature who had spouted instructions and information at them all this time. She imagined the ground beneath them crumbling and all of them floating among the stars. She imagined giant fluffy animals coming to their rescue. She imagined herself being plucked up by a moonbeam to live on lunar soil, and how this might all look from all the way up there.
The creature was talking again, drawing her back to reality. Her fingertips tingled and began to crumble away, her weapon dropping from hands that could no longer grasp anything. Her knees buckled and she dropped to the ground, legs breaking to pieces on impact. Was she imagining this? It felt awful, frighteningly numb, like nothing she could ever possibly describe, despite her avid imagination. It couldn't be, then.
This was real.
A question rose about her wish, and the world lost all her color, as if trying to recall it was draining every ounce of existence this place had left. Had she wished to be queen of a new world, made only of flowers and sugar? Or maybe to have little thin-tailed creatures that could speak to her and do her bidding? Or the ability to see through walls? No, wait, it was none of that; all those ridiculous ideas, a well of stories to be told, creativity rendered useless with nobody to listen to her. That felt right. Someone to listen.
Then again, she would need no one to listen if there were no words left to speak.
Lyra listened and watch and stunned silence, perhaps maybe even horror of the sudden realization that perhaps this whole thing wasn't as magical as it seemed to be. She took a few steps back, stumbling for a few moments before she suddenly fell to her knees, pieces of her body breaking away like porcelain that had been carelessly handled. She took the crystal from her pocket, the one the creature had dropped and then her FEAR crystal, trying to fix herself, frantically mashing them together in feebled attempts..
They fell to the ground, along with her hands that were soon quickly followed by her arms - only resting on the ground for a brief period before they shattered into tiny particles that no one would ever remember because she looked around at the battleground and she watched as every other girl began to disappear. This was the end. At least she wasn't left in the unknown anymore. She stopped trying to fight it and closed her eyes, perhaps a small sigh escaping parted lips before the rest of her disappeared.
