Beck blinked and gave him a confused look before realizing his knights were gone. His head snapped up from the hex user, eyes darting everywhere until they landed on the three bodies that were covered up. He wobbled over to the knights as he realized the attack he used was too late. "No..." he simply muttered as he fell to his knees beside the bodies. Burnt flesh and rust from the blood attacked his senses, but he was too overcome with grief to care. The King pulled back the sheet used to cover the men just enough to see the men. Tyler was the only one that showed fear in his eyes, the bodies of the others being unrecognizable as they were burnt-even to his surprise- beyond recognition.

Len held his knees to him and put his head down between them and shivered. "...I'm sorry..." he said shamefully. "It...was too late for Tyler but...I could of saved the other two I didn't...I didn't think I..."

Beck grimaced as he looked left, towards the scorched earth and trench created by his attack. The body of Fularin was gone. "Len..." he said as he looked back at the person who held his head between his legs. "It's not your fault...it's mine. I didn't act quick enough to save my men. She was quicker then I thought..." he sighed and said "I train almost every day to try and protect my men...," hands clenched to fists ", but no matter what. I can't." and he knew the reason was because wars couldn't be won without the lives of soldiers. But if he was quick enough, maybe. Just maybe...Beck would've been able to save these men. He soon got on his knees and began to grab the dirt, pulling it towards him and then tossing it aside. He kept repeating this, moving back and forth until there was a hole about his size. Beck then took Tyler's body, and lay him in it. "I would've done it with magick, but it won't feel the same. You all fought bravely, and therefore deserve the right burial..." said Beck as he closed Tylers' eyes. He then pushed the gravel and dirt back over Tylers' body in silence, tears dripping from his face as he did so.

Len was silent but he heard Beck digging. After awhile he looked up and noticed the hole made and him putting Tyler in the hole he looked down then standing up slowly he walked over and slumped beside him. "I'll dig the hole for these two. After all it's my fault they got scorched. I could have gotten them out of the way but I didn't I was stupid." He didn't even wait for Beck to respond and started digging even though right now he was really tired.

"You focused on keeping yourself alive...it's fine." He said and began digging the third hole. His hands already dirty from the previous hole.

Len didn't want to talk anymore he was just concentrating on getting the hole dug. He was going slowly then Beck had mostly because he was so tired.

Beck saw Len going slowly in silence. The bags under his eyes were as dark as night, his eye lids floated between being sleep and awake. The whites of his eyes bloodshot from being open for so long but his overall expression was a stare of sadness, exhaustion and guilt. The King had to remember that since Len wandered, he probably hasn't seen death like the kind Beck had seen. The two worlds of pain that Beck and Len held were seen as the same but felt as though they were worlds apart.

It seemed to take forever but when Len finally had the hole dug up he gently placed one body inside then covered it. ...I'm sorry... He finally said before collapsing from exhaustion.

Beck had already buried the other soldier when Len finished his. He looked over just in time to see the man fall over. The King quickly ran to his side and picked him up, setting him on his horse that was a few yards away and then having him lean on the mane. Beck grabbed the other horses reigns-including Lens'- before climbing on his own and starting to ride towards Leoan.

Len didn't even know how long it was. When he finally opened his eyes again he noticed that first of all he was on his horse and the horse was moving. Secondly he noticed the area around was vastly different then what he was used to seeing. Groaning he slowly sat up and put his hand to his head he looked towards Beck and blinked. "Are we...in Leoan?"

The sun had been high, a little bit past noon it would appear when Beck heard Len. He looked back and smiled "Almost. I'd say a few more hours and we'll be at my town." with that, the man handed over a small loaf of bread to Len and said "Water is on the right side of your saddle."

Len thanked the king as he too the bread and then fumbled around for the water then slowly ate. His stomach churned, a little greatful for some food finally. He had only taken a few bites when he remembered Tyler and the others he stopped mid way to taking a bite. He then looked at the bread then at the water. Finally he put them both away no longer capable of eating and drinking. Not after what had just happened. He felt a lump in his throat. He road in silence his head hung.

Beck slowly let Len's reigns go on his horse and handed them to him a few minutes later. He noticed the dark face and sighed. "I'm sorry you had to see that."

Beck nodded as he realized that he suffered for a while from the same thing after his first few sword battles. Not the practice rounds against Tray for sparring but when the two of them fought off a rather large pair of burglars while traveling. Beck tried to think of what she said, having it ring clearer than expected. "Don't grieve for them. They wouldn't want that to be their last memories of themselves. As warriors, they were great...friends, greater. But above all...," he looked at Len ", We must continue with our own lives in order to honor those that didn't make it."
