Aurore looked up "a couple hours or so" she said pulling the wagon and heading to the bank

dusk suddenly had a thought that confused her. in her experience, slaves never had bank accounts.
"who has a bank account?" she asked. "were one of you allowed to have money?"

"oh..." dusk replied softly, feeling bad for what she said. she thought she accidentally offended Aurora.
she layed down again in the wagon, and just looked up at the sky, thinking.

"realy?" she asked excitedly and relieved. "i'm so glad. i like you guys alot, we're like a family!"
she looked around some more. "how far is the bank?" she asked. "do we have any other errands after that?"

"a house!" she squealed excitedly. "we get to live together in a real house, huzzah!"
she wiggled her petite body in victory, a sort of childish dance.

"i thought we were gonna live in tents or huts or a cottage. i'm so glad you've got money, we can live comfortably."
she sat down again, and curled up happily. "i don't remember my family very well... i was realy little when Master Lazerous took me from my parents. i haven't seen them since."

"it's ok miss Aurora." dusk replied. "my family are peasants, and they couldn't realy afford to keep me anyway. Master Lazerous took good care of me in exchange for my service to him."
for such a young girl, she didn't seem very bothered at all by the fact that she was kidnapped and enslaved. if anything, she seemed to count herself lucky.
the truth was, that dusk had never known any other life. her thoughts wandered, retreating back to a time when she lived among the wealthy, slept on fine silks in her own room, and sometimes got to eat dinner in the presence of her owner. in her mind, it seemed like perfectly fair treatment in exchange for her servitude, her body, and her diplomatic displays of obediance in the presence of other nobles. she had felt adored and cared for, like a valued pet animal.
she knew that to her former Master she was considered an object, property to be hoarded, bought, sold, stolen, or destroyed as others desired. as a child though, that was hardly a new position.
"um..." she mumbled, and then paused a moment.
"... have you ever known what it's like... to be a maiden...?" she asked. she was a little embarressed by her own question, because she was taught that virgins are more valuable.
