Jackal grunted as the refraction from Zed's cannon caused him to lose his iron grip on the girls neck. His only lifeline now lost, the raider accepted his fate grudgingly, closing his eyes and embracing the rush in the pit of his stomach as he plummeted towards hard ground...
Jackal was surprised when he hit the ground. Yes it hurt, but he never realised that earth was so... absorbant. The raider lay face down in the giant lake, the cold water, combined with his recent devestating wounds, sending his system into shock. He felt himself drift downwards, his body enveloped by the murky waters of the vast waterscape. He breathed deeply, his sinuses stinging as water cascaded into his nostrils. He opened his mouth, rushing to release the last few pockets of air still trapped in his useless lungs, the cold hands of death dragging him deeper and deeper into the abyss...

Koko began to regain her senses after a moment, the return of oxygen to her system giving her a boost of energy. She was still heading towards the ground though &, before she could stabalise, she plummeted into the icy cold water. Wait, water? Flailing around for a moment, the mercenary managed to discard the jetpack still sizzling on her back - since she didn't know how it would react in water.
As she spun round, trying to find the surface, she spotted what looked like a body sinking in the water. A chill went straight down her spine as she stared, thinking it could be Zed. Despite the heaviness of her limbs & the return of the burning sensation in her lungs, Koko began frantically swimming towards whoever was sinking. Her vision was still cloudy, so even though she knew it was a man she couldn't make out facial features, but she didn't care. Her only thoughts were that it could be Zed & if she left him, she'd never forgive herself. After grabbing hold of the man's arm she angled herself & swam where she assumed the surface was, hoping she was right. After what seemed like an eternity, she finally broke the surface of the water & inhaled a breath of air. She managed to haul the man she'd grabbed to the surface as well, keeping his head above the water. Koko had to swim again now, get to the shore if there was one. She had barely any energy left, it was only the drive to survive & the thought that she could be the key to saving this man's life that kept her going.
She didn't even realise when her feet touched the bottom of the lake as it angled up to the land. She was just so tired.... When she tripped & realised she had reached land, she pulled the man up onto the land so that he wouldn't drown, before collapsing backwards.

Dimitri turned to Syuzanna, and without a word, he punched him relatively lightly in the top of his arm. But instead of then wandering around, he walked up quietly behind Thane and rest a hand on his shoulder. "What are you lookin' fer?" he asked.
Dimitri took the time that Thane was thinking about his answer to glance around the room. It held the same pods as the one he stayed in, yet he couldnt remember this time of course, only the waking and being put there in the first place. He sighed as his free hand tightened around the chain in his pocket.

Zed's jetpack started spluttering huge flames and beeping furiously. The pilot landed in a roll near Koko and threw the jetpack aside, where it became engulfed in the large flames before the remaining fuel exploded. Despite the wounds to his neck, he promptly lifted Koko over his shoulder and pressed some buttons on his uplink, landing the Aiolos nearby. Zed's attention turned to Jackal. I'll be back for you in a second... He walked into the ship via the airlock, then placed Koko down in the medical bay while he looked at the state of his neck in a mirror. Ah s**t... I'd beter do something about that... He staggered around for a while until he found a bit of loose cloth and duct-taped it to his neck. That'll do for now...

Syuzanna followed the other two quietly, the further in to the vast space he went, the tighter the grips on his guns became. "how long you going to take?" He still found himself giggling at dimitri slightly still, though hid it more.

"I...I need to find someone..." He looked from one pod to the next, stopping every now and again to look closer at some of the peoples faces. After a long while he sighed and stopped, slumping down next to one of the pods. "urgh...what's the use? There's gonna be millions of pods on this ship...." He muttered to himself. Thane then looked over at the other two and gave a weak smile, looking even more worn out than usual.

Jackal stirred as something grabbed him mid-descent, a gentle, but firm grip, wrapping around his torso. He half smiled, prospects of salvation filling his mind. An angel, a guardian angel. Someone must have taken pity on his worthless husk and decided to save him. The raider shook his head wearily as the pressure in his ears lessened as he moved to breach the surface of the lake. He was romantiscising, there would be no salvation for Jackal, just deeper descent into earthly, sinful, material pleasures that paved his road to damnation. Utter annhialation and oblivion was what ultimately awaited him and he knew it. This was nothing but a simple case of mistaken identity. The raider allowed himself to be dragged to the shore, where he layed on his back, coughing up water every so often. The mud of the bank was cool and comfortable, the slow pulse of the ebbing water soothing. He figured he would lay for a while.
The pilot's words swam around his head unfocused. Back in a minute. The raider repeated this sentiment in his head for a few moments, his thin lips mouthing the words lightly. It took a while for Jackal to conclude that he had some time, but eventually the pilot would be back, bloodthirstily seeking revenge for what the raider had put him and his bird through. Dragging himself to his feet, Jackal began to feel very vulnerable. He was wearing nothing but a pair of turned up jeans and oxblood combat boots, dripping wet, and starting to feel the cold immensely. He shook his head to clear it, straightening his thoughts out. "F**k" The raider pulled himself into a run, heading for some undergrowth, he'd wouldn't be taken alive. Not again...

Koko was vaguely aware of being slung over someone's shoulder & she struggled weakly, making a strange moaning sound. She reached out briefly to the person she'd saved, still unsure as to who it was. Her head was muzzy, she couldn't form thoughts properly & couldn't see straight. She felt numb, cold & her lungs ached painfully. The air she could now breathe in felt like icy daggers to her & the wound on her neck was still bleeding freely.
She never truly lost conciousness as she was carried off & could only watch as she got further away from the man she'd rescued. When she was laid down she let her head loll, trying to take in her surroundings & clear her head. It was a while before the mercenary was able to see properly & realised she was back on the Aiolos. But then, if she was back on here, that means she'd been picked up by Zed - since he was the only one capable of landing the Aiolos - so who had she saved? For a while she couldn't remember. Then it hit her... Jackal. She'd saved the very person who had tried numerous times to kill her & she'd tried to kill as well. A low moan escaped her & she closed her eyes, feeling torn about what she had done.
There was also the issue of her injury. She was unable to move at the moment & couldn't help herself, couldn't stop the bleeding. She was going to die at this rate! With the cold from the water, the blood loss, the near strangulation & everything else that had gone on, she was going to be lucky if she survived this. If she could just stay awake...

Zed picked up some medical supplies and headed back to Koko, seemingly unaware of the precence of John. He stood over the female mercinary to inspect her wounds, then he had a rummage through the medical supplies, not entirely sure of what to look for. Need to clean out the wound I guess... then I'll just use that healing accellerator machine thing... then I'd better get that raider onboard... I s'pose I should really take him back to Ares... The pilot produced a bottle of something that smelled of alcohol from the medical box and prepared to pour it on koko's wound. "Urm... Koko? this might sting a little... Hell, it'll sting a lot... hang on a second, gunna find something to stop you biting out your own toung or something..." Zed rolled up a bit of clean cloth and put it in Koko's mouth before pouring the surgical spirit onto the bite then using another off-cut of cloth to put pressure on it.

Koko looked blankly at Zed for a minute, trying to focus on his face. She still couldn't move very well, but made an effort to raise one hand. Her mouth opened like she wanted to speak, but no sound came out other than a hoarse whisper. She frowned a little, seemingly annoyed at herself for being in such a state. It was then she saw the bottle of sugical spirit & the words of the pilot finally made sense to her. When she realised what he was doing the mercenary barely had any time to brace herself.
When the pain hit it was excruciating & she bit down hard on the cloth in her mouth, convulsing for a moment. The sudden rush of pain did have the positive effect of clearing her senses though, so she was now able to see properly. She was able to think more clearly too, though all she could really focus on at the moment was the surge of agony rushing through her system.

The pilot placed the spirit back in the medical kit, then rummaged around some more. "Right, now for some good ol' technology." Zed placed a small shoebox sized translucent green-blue object beside Koko's neck, within the cube shaped object some kind of advanced circuitry and mechanisms whirred into life, emmitting a shrill beeping sound precicely every 6 seconds to remind you of its precence.
He pressed a button on the top of it, causing around twelve tiny metal 'fingers' to come out from a hatch on it's side and gently rest around the bite. The machine beeped it's annoying beep loudly then got to work, the tiny 'fingers' moving faster then the eye could see, weaving a 'web' of organic matter over the wound, whilst flling the small space beneath it with a gel-like substance that speeds up the healing of the flesh. "Best not leave it running for too long, i know a guy who fell asleep with one..." BEEP. "...of these things on, they came out with 11 fingers...." BEEP. "...on one hand!"

((Sorry guys i missed ya posts ^^;; wink )
Dimitri turned to Thane and returned his smile. He could see that he was tired from looking for whoever he was after, and the bickering that Dimtri and Syuzanna were doing probably didn't help.
He lay a hand on Thane's shoulder, and qiuetly said, "If ya' tell me what this person looks like, I cen probably help ya'"

After a while, the pain in Koko's system began to subside & she opened her eyes - which had been screwed tightly shut. She blinked & looked over at Zed for a moment, a small smile breaking across her features. Even though the beeping from the machine was irritating, she managed to ignore it for the most part. "Hey there Zed...." BEEP. "I take it you managed to find where I landed...?" She then remembered about Jackal & moaned again, knowing she'd ended up rescuing him. Well, he owed her now - though he probably had no idea. She sighed, trying to think about everything that had occured.
To be fair, if she'd been in the same situation as Jackal, she probably would've done anything to escape, so she couldn't really blame him. But, that didn't mean she had to like him. After everything she'd been put through, there was no way she was going to have any friendly feelings towards the guy; she just could understand why he'd fought so hard to get away.

Zed scowled at the beeping machine for a moment then returned Koko a smile. "You just keep still and let the machine do it's thing..." BEEP. He tapped the uplink that he was wearing on his wrist, controling the Aiolos to hover close to the ground and scan the area for heat signatures as he'd figured that he'd better find Jackal and bring him back to Ares as they were still on planet Excalibur.

John checked his ammo, weapons and rations and headed towards the cargo bay. He walked in the cargo back and took up position in a chair, watching the door with his shotgun in arms.
