"It's alright," Lin ruffled Kanis head, "But remember, if anything happens to you, it doesn't matter what it is. Tell someone okay? Whether it is your parents or Ulani or Ulrich."
It was a pity she didn't really get to spend time with it, she supposed Ruran kind of ruined that.
"Too bad I can't stay longer around here, I'll probably be here for only a few more days."

Kanis nodded, feeling a bit better about going to whoever she wanted, rather than going just to Lin. She really didn't know Lin at all. Come to think of it ...
"What's your name?" she asked curiously, tilting her head and looking up at her. "We didn't get a chance to ask before ..."
Aras blinked. "Oh, yeah," she blushed. "We didn't ..."
Ruque cleared his throat awkwardly. "Um ... who are you?" he asked for his sisters, since they both seemed to be beating around the bush with their question.

Lin blinked and had to laugh softly at that, it hadn't occurred to her that they didn't know who she was. Then again they hadn't been around the family that much so it wasn't that much of a surprise.
"I'm Lin Winters, daughter of Kara Winters and Donovan Lau. Your grandmother is my adopted sister, which would make your father my nephew even though he's older than me... uhm... at least.. he was older than me being born several months ahead of me."
But she was pretty sure that even with Celebor's year stay in the Southland she was older than him.

Ruque blinked. "Oh," he said in realization. "You're that one! Papa told us about you, he said you used to do a lot of things together!"
Kanis blinked at Ruque. "He did?"
The boy blushed. "Well ... when you guys were all gone, he told me stories," he mumbled, flustered. "Seeing as I didn't have anyone else to talk to ..."

Lin smiled, they had done a lot together though it was more training than playing.
"Well yea, we grew up together. Before your father grew up we all use to live in one building, an inn. So we had always lived in close quarters, it wasn't until after your grandmother and grandfather got married did we all move to the clan grounds."
And then of course several of Elnara's children did not live on the grounds at all....

Ruque nodded. "And Papa says that you went to the Southland a lot," he added. "He says he'll take us there someday, so that we can see the rest of our family. But he won't tell us about them ... something about he doesn't want it to go to Ruran's head or something."
He didn't understand what that was all about, but if his father thought it was best not to tell Ruran something, then he was probably right. There were a lot of things that even Ruque knew that Ruran oughtn't know.

Lin winced at that, she had a good idea what was it Celebor didn't want Ruran to know. She agreed, though only to save Atyela from more heartache. She wondered if Celebor knew at all about Ruel's twin.
"He's right, it wouldn't be a good idea. I'm afraid for that reason I can't tell you much about them, only that they're very nice."
She would have to pick carefully on what to tell them which meant not castle stories.

Ruque looked up at Niyana hopefully, looking for the answer to the question that he wouldn't ask but that he wanted to know the answer to.
Niyana shook her head. "Until your father deems it time," she murmured, "I can't say anything either. But I don't think that would happen until your brother leans how to behave."
She only worried about two things - first, if it would ever happen, and second, how it would have to come about.

How far into the future though she didn't know.

Ruque shuffled his foot shyly. "Um ... no ... but ... I think it might be good if you go see Ecthelion before dinner," he suggested. "He thought you got hurt too, and he's worried about Ryu and you and he doesn't know who you are, either ..."
Aras nodded. "I think he sort of feels like it's his fault," she said softly, "since he's the one who jumped you first ..."

"He shouldn't since his father I heard did the same thing with my siblings," Lin sighed, though it probably was true and she should go see Ecthelion, "I don't know where he lives though."
She wondered if they would have enough time before dinner.

"Go ahead," Ulani nodded. "They're not all that far, and it will be a while before dinner is ready anyways."
"I'll take her," Ruque offered eagerly. "I know the way!"
Besides, he liked seeing Ecthelion and Rose. And maybe Adanedhel would be home by this time! He didn't get to see him very often.

"Be careful," Niyana warned them as they headed out.
"It's not far," Ruque grinned, waving at his mother as he started to the door. "We'll be okay!" He reached for Lin's hand, tugging her along behind him. "Come on!"
And he ran out the door, dragging Lin after him.

Lin followed after Ruque, though she was really being dragged out.
"I'm coming!" Lin laughed.
Ruque sort of reminded her of Celebor when they were kids.
