Until you at least make sacrifices like Kashrit, you can't go around flaunting a kippah,
You told yourself that? I Agree.

Shivah refers to a time of mourning over a direct relative (brother, sister, mother, father, daughter, son) Letting one's hair grow is a sign of mourning. The hair that is relevant is facial and hair on the head only for men.

During omer shaving (and haircutting) is generally disallowed (although many many heteyrim (SP?)) to remember the talmidim of Rabbi Akibah (24,000 dies during the omer) and 3 weeks is another similar sign of mourning this time over the Beis Hamikdosh.

I may be wrong on some specifics, feel free to correct if you see fit.

I claim very very little knowledge of Amish culture

Yeah, the closest I've come to learning about Amish culture is seeing a buggy a few times.

Try out Pratchett he's quite entertaining and his social commentaries are amazing. Also I reccomend Pratchett's friend Gaiman. If you like comics you'll know him from "The Sandman" and the first "Book of Magic" (The Book of magic was the inspiration for harry potter) If you don't like comics I recommend Neverwhere and his collaboration with pratchett Good Omens

Good Omens is spectacular. You might also want to mention that he wrote Stardust (another British film, I believe).

Unfortunately the movie Stardust missed some of the main points of the book. I enjoyed the movie, I just didn't feel it appropriately represented the book.

oh btw I'm not sure where I remember seeing this come up but the name Shmuel (as in the son of Channah who is mentioned in the Rosh Hashannah first day leighning) means requested of god according to the Radak.

I want to say this is relevant but I don't know why sweatdrop

It's Lumanny's Hebrew name. He wanted to know what it meant.

Hm, sleep walking to the computer and reading old JGG threads? I think you need a sleep study friend.

No problem at all, but sleeping in a bed might be better on your back.
