Oblivious to any internal distress she might have caused Nita, Fiona forced herself to resist the urge to blubber about how she missed her home and her parents. She was better than that. "But yeah. That's kinda depressing. Let's talk about something better. Or even not talk at all- it's pretty nice out here when it's quiet. But then, that means I have to shut up for more than a second, doesn't it?" She laughed at herself, flopping back and bonking her head on a small rock with a grimace, pushing it out of the way before resting her skull against the dirt and pebbles. "So how've you been?"

Nita was relieved to change the subject, and she couldn't help but laugh along with Fiona. "Gah, you okay?" she asked, when the girl whacked her head. She straightened herself out from her hunched position and looked out across the river.
"It is nice out here," she agreed. Warm sun, a gentle breeze, fluffy clouds, birdsong... Nita sighed, enjoying the scent of earth, trees, and water. "And I've been okay, all things considered. There are good people here," she continued, almost forgetting who she was talking to.

"Yeah..." she agreed softly, turning onto her side when the nub of a tail began to complain about being crushed under her behind. "I should probably get out and meet more people. I've been so focused on-" she cut herself off, suddenly avoiding Nita's gaze. As much as Fiona wanted to trust her... 'She's friends with Lauren. She might let something slip, even if she doesn't mean to. I can't tell her about this.' "Well, maybe I'll tell you some other time," she lied, "I'm not sure if there are cameras around here."

"Plotting again?" Nita teased. Not that she really thought Fiona would get anywhere with all her plans. "Stupid cameras," she agreed. "Supposed to be all over, though, so even out here." She shrugged. It was much easier to try to forget about them, to forget they were in a giant experiment, even if their cage was an entire island.

"Heh, that's just who I am. I can't sit still or I'll go insane," Fiona grinned, leaning against her fuzzy arm. "One of these days," she said, eyes twinkling with mischief, "I'll find a way to stop them for good. Overthrow the scientists. And then we can all live here on this island, living off the land. Maybe find some fruit trees and plant an orchard, and in a few years... it sucks to think that we'll be stuck here that long, but I'm not about to go back to the real world with pointy ears and a mini-tail-thing. The fur I could shave off... the rest of it is a bit too weird to get away with. Maybe I could pretend I'm an elf or something. Work in a mall with one of those rent-a-Santa dudes. Probably doesn't pay that well, though. I could go around in a giant beaver suit the rest of the year. Yeah, I could be a mascot for a sports team. How lame would that be?" Her train of thought had clearly meandered. What had she been talking about before, anyways?

Nita blinked. Since her change, she hadn't really thought of going home. Even if she didn't look so bad now, she would change again. And life really wasn't so bad for her on the island. She was certainly less stressed than she'd been for years... and of course there was Lauren.
"You do look a bit like an elf though," Nita said, amused. "I don't think you'd really want to be a mascot though. I know I wouldn't!"

"You're right," she mused, "it'd get old really fast. Maybe I should..." her stomach suddenly gave a loud, obtrusive gargle. "Get something to eat?" She laughed, patting the offensive organ and slowly getting up with a yawn. "I have to admit, I'm really relieved I didn't end up with some kind of meat-eating animal. I'm surprised they didn't make me like a crocodile or something, just to mess with my head. Anywho, I better get goin' before they get any ideas." Fiona smirked widely, bobbing her head at Nita. "Guess I'll see you later, then?"

Nita chuckled. "A rabbit's not so bad then, I guess. Much better than being some silly mascot." She paused and nodded back. "Yeah, sure. Have a good meal then."

"Right. Seeya!" She waved and made her way up along the river back to the village.

NEW RP
After Bobby strode away from the incident at Billy's duplex, she had gone to the river to wash up. The woman could have gone to her own duplex, but that was still too close to his. That was two days ago, and she still had some ink stain on her. The pig refused to go into the village with it still on her. Of course, with her dark skin it was hardly noticeable now.
Bobby had lived off the forest once before, and she could do it again. Her previous isolation helped in a situation like this. Fully clothed, Bobby walked into the river and scrubbed as best she could. She wanted to enjoy herself a little bit, so swam a little upstream. Fighting the current had been a work-out, but it felt good.
At the bank, Bobby stepped out and undressed. Before putting her clothes back on she wrung them out. Fully clothed again, the pig walked around, it was time to eat.
It was at that point that she saw a familiar form collapsed nearby. Immediately, the woman was off as fast she could. She was still skidding to a stop when Bobby knelt beside the fallen coyote.
But for a brief moment it wasn't Pyroth but John, her fallen partner, killed by Billy's hand. Carefully, Bobby lifted the thin frame of Pyroth and cradled him in her lap, praying he was okay. The water that dripped onto her hands was really blood from his gunshot wound.
"Joh-" Bobby started to say when her mind cleared. There was no blood, not wound... no John. The one who was in her lap was really Pyroth; he was a man once but now looked more coyote. Smoothing the fur on his forehead and cheeks, the woman murmured, trying to get him to wake up, "Pyroth.... Pyroth wake up..."

Pyroth had been out of action for almost 24 hours after being administered the shock to deter his pursuit of Emerwyn, normally the duration of the effect would have been much shorter but he had exhausted his already weakened body by the run. He didn't stir as Bobby initially picked him up, only beginning to come back into the world of the fully concious after a moment or two.
As soon as he was even remotely self away he noticed his head hurt like hell along with his neck, legs and in particular his injured shoulder he'd been lying on. However he wasn't as cold as he had been, noticing a comforting warmth nearby and a scent familiar to him. It was only when he herad Bobby speak that he opened his yellow eyes, looking utterly dazed and confused, the previous day a bit of a blur.
"Wha..What?" he muttered, still only half-awake. He looked around with effort and realised he was at the lake. The previous day's events came back to him and he groaned and let his head fall back again, relief apparent in expression. "Good. She got away."
He looked up at Bobby again and only then realised that the reason he was so warm and comfortable was because he was rested in her lap. He switched to hoshitcan'tseemtoocomfortablehere mode and spoke, sitting up "Oh! Yeah. I got zapped. I think." he flicked his ears back apologetically. "I'm really sorry if I gave you a fright. I know what this island is like." Again that temptation to show his earnestness by proferring a canine lick took him by surprise and in his still-groggy state he wasn't fast enough to catch it. The result was a cheek lick that made him want to smack himself. Hopefully Bobby wouldn't mind /too/ much.
"Yeah..sorry." he looked like a dog given into trouble, waiting for the reprimand to smack him.

Bobby let out a relieved breath when Pyroth came to. At the mention that someone got away, she couldn't help but look around. The pig had no idea what had happened here, and any scents that may have been here would be long gone. "Who... got away?" she was almost worried to ask. But sure, whatever had transpired was not his fault. The fact that he remembered was a good sign, though.
As the coyote sat back, Bobby didn't move or hestitate. Secretly, she had enjoyed some warmth in her lap. She must have gotten accustomed to it at home -what with her husband, children, and multiple lovers. The only person that allowed such contact at the Island was Colche, the one that always helped the woman fill the whole in her heart that her children had so recently filled.
"Zapped? Did you do something bad?" Bobby was curious. There were only a couple reasons she could think of that would result in him getting zapped.
All the canine expressions didn't phase Bobby. She had seen worst looks and actions before... on those that were arrested or an inmate. Usually, they were pointed at her. So, either she was now immune to canine-feral expression or simply chose to ignore them. Who knows.
At the multiple apologies, the woman could help but roll her eyes in mock exasperation. "You have don't have to be sorry."

Pyroth nodded "I really do need to be sorry, I almost killed someone, probably would have too if I hadn't been zapped out." The painful awareness of the chase stunned him, this time he had gone after Emerwyn of his own accord, he couldn't blame the coyote or the drugs. He moved off of Bobby's lap, feeling as though she wouldn't even want to be anywhere near someone who would opt to hunt a fellow islander. He considered walking off but all of his muscles informed him in unison that he really wasn't going anywhere. He flopped down to sit in the undergrowth.
"That's the second time I've gone after Em, and this time I /knew/ I was doing it." He remembered all too vividly how he could almost taste the blood as he talked to her.
He tried to shrug it off, burying it as usual, trying to appear normal in front of one of the few people he called friends on the island.
"But yeah." he covered his eyes with his paws for a second "I must have been out here all day. I feel like s**t."

Bobby frowned a little. She had met Emerwyn a short time ago. The woman was turning into a deer, common prey, sure... and was this what she had meant when she said kindness was a rare thing on the Island? Maybe it was that she was a prey animal, it must be hard for the deer to be among so many hunters. "I am sure you didn't almost kill her. I doubt the doctor would let anything like that happen to any of us. Of course, if it was the serums that did the job I am not so sure he would worry."
The woman paused for a little bit, Pyroth looked horrible. It was obvious he wasn't in very good shape at the moment. Bobby kept her seat and just watched him. "I am sure Em would understand, though I doubt she likes in any better than you," she had seemed like a smart woman. Bobby made a mental note to find the deer sometime, if she could. There was no way she'd be able to keep up with her plump body.
Hearing that the coyote felt like s**t, Bobby stood up and helped Pyroth to his feet. "Come on, let's go for a walk. If you've been here all day in that position, your muscles need to be reminded how to work." Whether she was just helping him stand as a brace or the only thing keeping him on his feet was unsure. What was sure was that Bobby knew he had to move and help his blood circulate. If not, he'd stay in pain for much longer.

Pyroth nodded but looked doubtful, there wasnn't much of a difference between having a true intent to kill and actually succeeding. "Thank the powers that be that we actually do have those chips." So long as they kept on working, he wouldn't let himself fret too much, he'd just have to deal with the fact that he was a subconciously nasty person and predatory instincts only made that worse.
He allowed himself to be helped to his feet, despite having to clench his teeth to ignore the pained protests of his muscles. He was pretty much relying on Bobby to keep him upright and for once was glad that he was probably scarily light.
He grinned in a mischevious but pained fashion and added "Yes...nurse Bobby."
