He slipped, missing one of the seals. His brow furrowed but he said nothing. He didn't even acknowledge his failure other than the furrowing of the brow, but still, he seemed even more determined now to get it right. He didn't even notice the position of the sun, he didn't even care that he'd slept for so long. He'd learn the jutsu if it took him all night and the next day.
A man had to know when to give up it was true, but likewise a man had to know when to stick his heels and buckle down. It was the ability to recognize when to do what that made you wise. He tried yet again to complete the seals...
Bunshin no Jutsu
DC: 10 Formula: 1d20 + Chakra Control Train: 1/5
Part II The second part of the training would be to create the actual clones by using the hand seals. To successfully create a clone, the student would have to have a total of 5. At every incriment of 5, the student would make a clone. 5 = 1 clone (-1cp) 10 = 2 clones (-2cp) 15 = 3 clones (-3cp) 20 = 4 clones (-4cp) If a student only has 3 CP then he cannot create 4 clones, even if his total is 20. Resting for one post will gain back +2Cp. The must successfully complete the jutsu 4 times, disregarding how many clones they create. Formula: 1d20 + Chakra Control Train: ?/4 Experience: +1 for every clone

He gave a quick twitch of the mouth like he wanted to grin, but apparently suppressed the urge for the sake of concentration. He'd once more preformed the seals quickly and without flaw. But he still wasn't satisfied. Bushin in particular was one you had to be able to preform on the fly, quickly and efficiently... for your own sake, and his own sake was what Xen was what Xen was all about.
As he started again he kept trying to increase his rate, going faster and faster each time he succeeded, until he was satisfied.

He swore under his breath. Another slip up due to his increased speed. A slip up that in battle might have cost him his life. Unacceptable. He wouldn't settle for anything less that flawless, he kept at the same pace he'd been doing, refusing to lower the bar to accommodate his own incompetence... he didn't even notice that Sujin was watching him anymore. his entire world seemed to be focused on making this combination of seals.
He began again this time going through the motions in his head at the same time..

A drop of sweat went down his face. He just noticed, his chakra wasn't flowing right... He clenched his teeth his eyes now intense. He focused on correcting the flow, focusing the flow, focusing on the motions... he was going to get this right, he WAS going to get this right...
He tried to let himself calm. Tried to let himself shut out anything interfering with his exercise. He closed his eyes for a moment, feeling the chakra flow, then began...

He'd been close that time, just little more on the chakra flow, a little work here and there. He squinted slightly still trying to focus. He was going to master this just, there was no way he was going to half a** it. Bushin was an incredibly useful jutsu, both in and outside of battle. He wasnted to be able to preform it in less than a whole second, with NO fore warning. In order to do that, he had to get the start of right... he worked a little on the chakra flow and tried again...

He was nodding again. Yes, that felt right. He was doing it well, but it still wasn't fast enough, not for him. He would try picking up the pace again. Keeping the chakra flow he worked his fingers even harder, his games of cat's cradle a good warm up for this, now that he though about it. Apparently his mental relaxation technique was good for more than just helping him think. But he pushed that thought aside for now, what was important was the now, and learning this jutsu...

Yes...yes...excellent, that was very fast indeed, and without and single mistake...still, better safe than sorry. He wanted to be used to it. He would do it one more time. It occured to him now how much he must smell...after all...he hadn't washed his cloths or take a bath since yesterday...maybe he should consider actually sleeping at home tonight... he blinked. That was of course, after he learned this jutsu. He let the now familiar chakra flow work it's way through his network, and began to the signs in rapid succession.

First Phase completed
Another triumphant smile crossed his face. "I Yes...yes that's perfect..." he said to himself. He looked back to Sujin, his face actually pleasant in the aftermath of his success "Very well, I'm ready for the next phase." he blinked not really knowing why he'd bothered telling HIM that considering he'd already been kind enough to explain what he had to do. He looked slightly embarrassed, but he didn't blush. Xenon didn't blush. Ever.
He simply decided to move on, as though he'd said nothing. he actually looked like a regular kid as he started to attempt to actually create a clone, his face almost curiously intrigued.

"Bushin no Jutsu!" he said as though it might help in the act. He gave the jutsu his absolute all, his chakra rushing through his coils. He Felt suddenly tired, and fell to one knee feeling completely drained... my god... he'd never felt so tired in his life... his eyes felt droopy and every part of his body felt heavy...but as he looked up he felt shock. As three clouds of smoke cleared, there, standing before him, were three fully formed Clones. All staring at him with his own expression in place. One of them even pushed up his glasses.
He fell back, shocked, at how much it had taken out of him. He was breathing in deeply, not willing to attempt it again until he'd thoroughly rested up. He looked up at his Bushin "I...overdid it...." he turned to Sujin. "Still...I did it...and I'm man enough to admit when I'm indebted to someone....thank you, Senpai." For the first time the honorific wasn't false or sarcasm.

He didn't really know what to make of Sujin, anymore now than when he'd met him earlier in the day. He was now actually sure that he wasn't hiding anything about his intent. Still, he certainly was...interesting, he supposed he call it, in the way he spoke. He almost spoke like he was a, what were those things called...human desk calendar... yes... full of sayings and silliquisms...but their was a strange alertness about him that bespoke a high level of thought... then, ever present, was the feeling that somthing about him gave Xen De ja vu... but he'd already decided to put that aside until he had more ground to stand on...
Rest +2cp

Xen tucked his legs underneath him into a meditative style as his Bushins stood, still awaiting orders. He tried, he decided, to see if he could control them. He looked one dead in the eye. 'Punch him in the face.' he thought firmly, referring to the clone next to him.
Without the slightest hesitation, the clone slammed the other insubstantial in the face, causing them both to burst into smoke. As he supected... they weren't very durable, but he could indeed control them...then again, he supposed that made sense...they were made from his chakra after all... he'd rested for little bit now and got up, his remaining clones eyes following him, it's expression stern, and obedient. He straightened his glasses.
'Okay...I have to get used to this... I have to learn to control how many I create... once more...

Again he felt himself drain. He didn't even need to look at then three additional clones. He fell onto his back breathing in deeply, his energy drained once more. The sun was lowering into the horizon, night coming on, but he just stared up at the darkening heavens, his four Bushin bending over to look at him. Surrounding him like four lost puppies, he couldn't help but laugh at the sight. He lay back and closed his eyes slightly, but was careful not to let himself go to sleep. The four clones now sat down in a meditative position around, staring unceasingly.

Xen was controlling his breathing, trying to regain his chakra back as quickly as possible. He was bound a determined to succeed in this. He just had to remember to control the amount of the chakra he was using. He could do the jutsu alright, but he needed to master it completely, else wise it was just a wild card, even a liability.
He amused himself by having his clones run about in circles, practicing coordinating more than one. He was pleased to see he was able to command them effectively now. in a combat situation, they'd follow his instructions perfectly, without him even needing to speak or make eye contact. He cracked his neck slightly, not wanting it to stiffen up. He felt a little recharged already, but he didn't want to take chances. If he worked to hard, any harder than he had, and he might collapse outright... he wanted his full strength back before he tried again.

Xen leaned up slightly, his strength slowly returning bit by bit. It seemed that while the rate he lost energy from chakra deprivation was rapid, the rate he regained it was also accelerated. All of his clones suddenly came to his side as he mentally controlled them. He looked at each in turn closely, expecting the quality. He wished he'd had a mirror. Still, they each seemed perfectly crafted, yes...it was merely a matter of mastering how many clones he created at a time, and he suspected he could do that by controlling the chakra flow... Standing up and straightening his coat. He held his hands out in front of him, prepared to try once more.
Rest: Full Chakra.

"Bushin no jutsu!!!"
All of Xen's clones evaporated as consciousness left him. While Four whole clones had been created in the attempt, he'd used too much energy. He Collapsed, his face instantly untroubled, unaffected in forced and exhausted sleep. his impact on the ground wasn't even enough to stir him. He lay there motionless, save his slow measured breathing. as the night began to truly take it's hold, he drifted deeper into sleep. In his sleep, Xen always seemed peaceful, perhaps it was his tendency toward pleasant dreams, maybe it was simply coincidence... or maybe, it is in even the darker hearts to be angelic when asleep... either way, Xen slept on as his body recovered from the recoil of his jutsu...
