Dari smiled and pecked Cody back on the lips. He grinned, eyes flickering over Cody's face.
"Then we don't have to eat. Do you want to watch a movie?" He was up for anything, after all of their paperwork and such.

"A movie's good," Cody agreed, and smiled at Dari. He led him to his living room, and pulled him down on the couch next to him. "I'm glad you came home with me," he said. "The no touching was driving me crazy." He kissed Dari's cheek.

"Yeah, I'm sorry about that." Still Dari was grinning. "It's just, before you're an ally, while I'm in uniform at work... we don't want to risk your chances. Once you're registered it'll be fine." He stroked Cody's temple. He hadn't liked not being able to touch either!

About a week later, the beacon Reese had would call in. He was irritable with the initial person who answered. Yes, it was an emergency, no he didn't need anyone to come out, he wanted to speak to the werewolf RIGHT NOW. There was the loud, unending wails of a toddler in the background.
"Hurry up. I need to talk to Agent Aikley immediately!"

Everyone still referred to Dari as "Dari," so it didn't strike the operator that the caller might have meant him. That probably saved Reese some time.
Toby answered from the reception room as the hologram came up.
"Reese! Is-- what is-- is that the nymph?" The audio was crackling from the shrieking. "Is she okay?"

"Toby! You've got to make her stop. She keeps crying for you! I thought I could distract her but she's been crying for hours! I don't know what to do!" The forest guardian looked hassled. He offered the nymph the beacon. "Look! See? He's talking! Now be quiet."
The nymph took the beacon and sniffed. "Poppy? Where poppy?!"

Oh, that was heartbreaking!
"Hi, honey!" His voice lightened and he scooted his chair closer. "Honey, Poppy's at home! Poppy lives far away. Don't cry! You can talk to me here when ever you want."

The nymph seemed to be calming at Toby's voice. She rubbed at her eyes with a fist, then her at nose with her arm. "Want Poppy here!" She announced, giving another sniff. "Poppy come?" She looked at him expectantly. "Peas come, Poppy!"

"Oh, honey, I can't. I have work! I would come if I would, trust me. I miss you too." His heart was breaking. "I'll get to come visit again some day."

Work? What was work? Why was it keeping Poppy from her? The nymph's expression crumpled slightly. She stuck her lip out and looked to Reese.
"I'll make him visit," Reese promised.
"Poppy come 'morrow?" The nymph asked.

"No, honey," Toby said with a little sigh. He deflated a bit. "I'm sorry, honey. I love you lots, did you know that?"

"Luh Poppy!" The nymph seemed to perk up at Toby's words. She tried bringing the beacon closer to her face. "Luh Poppy. Poppy! There bird!" The nymph pointed towards the sky, as if Toby could see it.
"She talks now," Reese provided from the background, sounding irritable.

Toby finally smiled, and then grinned. "Oh, that's very nice!" Then to Reese: "Yeah, she's going to start growing up fast."
