"There would be no affairs of mine if I were simply left to myself and called on when needed." Though he didn't comment of the mind penetration thing, Sevilin wasn't an idiot at all...just had moments of leaping before he looked when he usually looked for hours. The blade tip, not payed much mind...because like him and Zahara had discussed before, they both knew that Sevilin was valuable to Malik...seeing as he couldn't get another rune mage, much less one that would do his work without moral question.
A shrug. "Incomplete and of no one else's use." In fact, the moment he had gotten up, that runing had disappered...it was just manifested energy after all. Not a move as that blade was pressured a little. It was very odd to not wear chainmail, that was for certain. "Position you say...given the position she may be but she doesn't live the part...how can I believe where she stands when she does not wear it for those around her to see. The only thing anyone sees is her following you around and a collar on her neck." Which was indeed a good point, that little surface thing was peculiar.
Of course there was one flaw in Sevilin's mental born feeling defenses. He wasn't so apt to being able to disconnect from more magical born pains. Thus Mailk got that wanted reaction out of him, the gritting of teeth and that hiss of pain as well as a yank back, one hand going to the table to brace himself. That hurt like a b***h, just as much as the last time. Right had to remember Malik was more that physical push. Sevilin looked up to Malik again before he took on that careless look and he sunk back into his chair. Though he was still slightly glaring at Malik. There it was, the short fuse snuffed out. "Good to know my anguish at least gets compensated."

"For someone so bright, I think you would appreciate what she does that you don't see. For example, twenty years ago, I'd have killed you just now. and fed your soul and lifeblood to Malvolence. then I woudl know everything you know about runing, intimately. every symbol you know, every trick you know, how it all works and all the advantages and dangers there of."
Holding up that sword, the glowed with it's own hungers and inner light.
"However. Malvolence doesn't always like to play nice with me or others. so I have to be a bit more careful whom I feed to it. and lets not forget that I coudl break any Llothian woman's will, given enough time. In fact, I bet you would absolutly love to see your dear sisters but in one of my breaker rooms for a few weeks."
A slight grin.
"Piper keeps my darker impulses at bay. She acts as a concience, where there isn't one. She's the reason Zahara is still alive, and in a round about way, the reason your still alive. Ironic, don't you think? even if all this played out without her, you inevitably woudl have brought Jaraxle's attention to yourself. and had it not been for her interferance, you woudl have died. so, according to this theory, Piper's curbance of my natural drives has in fact saved your life, by sparing Zahara's."

"A curbing of such behavior is not always beneficial in the underdark." That was his opinion on the matter. And A little shrug to the rest of his imformation, which Sevilin took and stride and looked like he was fine with all of that, again that passive attitude that paralelled his little moments of rage.
Though yes, a slight amused look at the thought of all five of those wretches being put under such tortures. Now if only his two younger brothers were alive to see that, it would be a grand thing.
"Yes but your surface elf also does things that should be better warned again...for example, those runes I scribed on your walls...how was she to know they weren't laced with a kind of booby trap? She didn't...could of lose her arm that way." A look back to Malik. "Speaking of such...need I ask permission to put those back? They're not merely to eavesdrop you know..." No it was more of a messaging system, as well. When you lived away it was wise to know what happened at work.

Zahara nodded, "Yes if they're too be your business, it would be a good idea to know all you could about them but that's up to you. Really depends on how closely you want to be connected to it. If it's just simple venture you're undertaking so you can have more money than it doesn't matter if you see them everyday or just check on them once a year, as long as you have someone else to do the day to day work. Can't have profits being destroyed you know. But if it's something you're doing for the love of it and the need and desire to do so, then it stands to reason that you wouldn't mind getting your hands dirty with them every once in a while, now doesn't it? I would think if the latter were the case, that you would be quick to be down here all the time, showing them things, teaching them new things and caring for them in general." She walked as she spoke and went immediately to the Tempest, pulling out the ever present sugar and feeding it to the mare. "Do they now? Praytell, what did they decide to name themselves?"

"Indeed, the latter in that statement. Malik will probably fuss at me for my business ethics as well...but these aren't regular horses. I'm not going to be selling them to just anyone who has the money to buy one...they're special and deserve to be treated as such." A pet to each in turn, scratching at ears and petting at snouts, of course while doing that she was checking teeth and what not. "You're all getting bigger by the week, aren't you?" Hm...maybe she'd get Keely to help her start getting the guys used to being ridden. "Do little ones tell me your names." Now Zephmares, and the winged zephyrs had two languages each from birth, that of thier parents. So they were easy to understand for Piper since they could all speak in winds. A point in turn, first to the male winged Zephyr, "Sion," then the winged female, "Ryvharen," then Malik's armored, "Kerick," and then the flame tempest, "Trissarem."

"Good strong names. Admirable choices." She gave each one a pet as they were 'introduced' to her and smiled softly. "Sion, Ryvharen, Kerick, Trissarem, Serino, Nerian, and Ramoth. Quite the little herd." Each was growing like a weed, and each was getting more rambunctious as they got older. Trissarem was the undisputed leader of the four and they all turned to her most times which made Zahara just melt for her. But she loved each and every one of them and whispered something in drow to each one of them with an affectionate pat and a cube of sugar. "You chose very well. Good strong stock. They should be a good springboard for your business Piper."

"She isn't completely without knowledge. from what I understand, her mother did make sure she learned a fair bit about the trade. However, if you wish to replace runes as a way of fast messaging, then I will allow you to place five. your discrection as to where, but no more than five. and no attaching them to moving objects."
a tapping of his finger to chin for a moment.
"And I will take some assumption that Fianna will be staying for dinner at the least, to make sure about Kieran's well being. and if you are here, I will insist that you as well come to dinner, along with Zahara."

"Horses are smart creatures, no doubt that they would pick suitable names." A turn to Kerick who had clapped a hoof on the ground and nickered, flicking his ears with a little fire warmed breeze to Piper. "Aw Kerick..." walking over she pet him affectionately and comfortingly, also noting his change in hide color. "Well, how does Malik sound next to Kerick? Hm? He's just being him...both of you have names that could decieve." And that made him perk up. Her attention went back to Zahara. "You think so? I've never done anything like this before, but I do know my horses." She looked over her little herd. Trissarem black and fire with a tan stripe, Kerick burgandy bay and black and fire, Sion white with black feathers, mane, and tail, and then Ryvharen honey brown, with tan main tail and brown/tan/white feathers. Quite a group indeed. An approving nod.
Sevilin nodded. "Five I can deal with...it's plenty." He could do a lot with five after all, he was creative and what not.
Though a raised eyebrow at Malik's request...say what now? Not only was Swiftfeather staying, but he wanted Sevilin and Zahara as well to come to dinner. Now he had a choice...either leave here and contend with bad food and risky accomodations...or stay and suffer through a....family like dinner.
"Can I ask the reason why to that? I'm sure you don't imagine me to be the best dinner guest..." No really, he was intrigued.

"How dare I think otherwise..is that what you're not saying Piper?" she asked chuckling. "Not that it matters, they could name themselves whatever they want, this just makes it a little easier to get one's attention now." She was silent for a moment idly petting at Trissarem and sighed, "I really wish I could speak teh language of the Zephyr. Sometimes I'm absolutely positive Serino is laughing at me and it would be nice to communicate with the little ones. Ah well, language barriers certainly make things interesting now don't they?" A grin at Piper, she would understand all about that what with her attempting to learn the Drow language. A sudden grin and she said casually. "Lu'oh gos dosst screa'in? Inbal dos screus ol jal quin?"

She chuckled. "Oh but you know me well, don't you?" Though a look to her friend with a fond look. "It's not that hard to learn it...if you really try to. And even if you can't speak with them, they're smart enough to gesture most things to you. I could teach you, but it would take a while." Then a blink at her as she posed her question in frow and Piper smiled. "Naut jal quin, drill natha yentil. Kiel aluin, drill Usstan tlun veir ulu gaer. Naut nindel Usstan gumash flohlu reztorm wun natha qee xor hasstn telanth."

"The way I was teaching you Drow?" She shook her head, "What is time to an elf Piper? Time can't kill us so it really means nothing. I assure the fact that something might take a while will not dampen my enthusiasm at all. Though a pause before her lips twitched and she fired off another stream. "Nau drill vel'uss ssinssrinen ulu vok ulu draa alu a ol wun biu hasstn i'dol gil'ssrigghinn. Shlu'ta dos kyorl Sevilin lu' Usstan sca'varn a weth byr? Ussta, ussta, nindel orn'la tlu reiyal l' wiles ulu flohlu." She tossed her head and chuckled softly still petting at Trissarem, rather pleased with Piper's handle on the language. She'd come pretty far from her stumbling sentences, actually able to piece things together in a relatively short time.

"Usstan xun naut talinth nindel Usstan gumash." She gave a shake of her head and looked to Zahara again. "Learning the lanuage of the winds, or even of just horses can be quite the task. You could learn to speak in shadows but Malik would have to teach you that. Have to have a lot of patience when trying to learn the wind...it's always talking...you just have to listen carefully." Then somewhat of an idea...you needed to be calm to learn it, and ZAhara was far fromit. But Piper knew how to fix that...for she knew how to calm Zahara. "How about...you help me take care of these guys, and I'll teach you?"

"Probably not but it would be fun to see you try." Piper's little deal sounded pretty good and she pretended to consider it though she already knew what her answer would be. "Help you with them? Does that mean things like feeding and cleaning them or the harder tasks like teaching them to ride?" She watched Piper intently wiating for her answer. Truthfully it didn't matter if she only got to do the menial tasks or not. She'd get to help with the horses and not get yelled at or told to back off about it. That was more than she could have asked for.

"Becuase you are a guest here. and guests attend dinner. that simple. Zahara attends dinners while she is here, and as such I expect you to do the same. without attempting to poison, murder, butcher, rune, or otherwise infuriate or bother Fianna or Kieran. Not to mention if your going to get free food, this is one of the small prices you pay."
A small grin. This will be interesting. and he'd have teh seating arranged to put Sevilin and Zahara next to eachother just for his own personal amusement and to give the wrong ideas to Kieran and Fianna. That woudl be amusing to say the least.
"So I do hope you'll have an appetite."

"Menial chores to teaching them to handle light tack and even riders. You know, that kind of thing. After all, there's four of them and only one of me...and you seem to take to them pretty well...so why not let you spend time with them." Maybe she could even talk Zahara into a business partnership, after all, Zahara most likely knew underdark common, which was different form common, and Piper didn't know it. More business. That was assuming that Zahara was still around.
"I always have an appetite." Yes he did...and when he did 'really' eat, he would usually do so till he was sick, after all, not knowing when your next meal was coming it was a nice stocking up habit. But since coming here and being able to mooch food, he hadn't been doing that lately. "Fair enough answer..." Though here was th catch, Silvercrest.
He tapped the table with his fingers a moment. He supposed that he could call a temporary truce in the name of food...after all, there was no sport in going after him if he wasn't at full strength and not with rune mage backup either. Fianna was not one he wanted to get into it with. Tension between them would be bad enough. "I suppose I can put a truce on my actions toward Silvercrest for a bit..."
