Exxos Yeah... a week is like insane. I think 18 to 30 hours is the "sweet spot." That seems a lot better for crock pot cooking for sure... though I've been known to only do 12 hours... sweatdrop

I once had lamb done in a crock pot for 3 days, it was like noodles in consistency at that point.

I remember being fond of beets with my macaroni and cheese because they would make my noodles turn purple. Ahh, the days of our youth.. ^^

Beets are one of the few things I won't eat. I hate a lot of foods, but cannot afford to be a picky eater. But beets... I just can't stand. They taste like lightly sweetened dirt and misery.

I've gotten passed my beet stage, in life. From then onward, I've discovered that having an aesthetically- pleasing effect doesn't make them taste even a little better, than they truly are.

Beets are also exceptionally bad for your kidneys.

They are very high in oxylate. Even people without any other kidney problems or oxylate issues can form kidney stones from them on top of vascular damage to the kidneys and renal glands. It also lowers the efficiency of the kidneys, so if you have a weak spleen, liver, or immune system, it can lead to further strain on them and you get a cycle of damage.

When I was a child, my father had one of his kidneys removed, so I'll have to let him know that beets really are bad for him.
Mom will hate it and he'll be thrilled to no end. The world makes sense once more. xd
