emo_alto -just backlog'd- Dude, Indy, one time I got a phone call from a number that was, like, area code 029 with a s**t load of 9s in the number, and they asked me who I was when I answered the phone. It was pretty late at night, and I forgot I left my phone on high and it woke up my roommate crying Jerk hat. where the hell is 029 anyway? -google'd!- xd I don't think I've ever had that happen before, and if I did, it was usually on of my cousins playing pranks on me...

xNebulousx And as for a cultural aspect, I would imagine that wouldn't apply towards contemporary NA society? But then again, I don't know a whole lot about it [ie. what's taught from generation to generation]. But things like this interest me so much. surprised I can tell you a bit about the cultural side of it. Alcoholism was running rampant at one point among the NA's. A man by the name of Handsome Lake was literally on his deathbed from his alcoholism when he recieved a spirit vision from the Creator. Four messangers were sent to him with a series of messages. Spirit visions are taken VERY seriously. The visions sent to him were a series of spiritual laws that were taken to heart by native americans. One of which says that alcohol is bad and we're not supposed to drink the stuff. Pretty much the native version of the 10 commandments. It's interesting reading if you're up to it. There's a gravestone for him not too far from where I live. I had a photo of it once, but I'm not sure where it's gone to. sweatdrop
Edit: Also given was a bunch of codes on how we're supposed to carry on rites and ceremonies, as well as some prophesies. Wikipedia Entry

Streamjumper Tsukasa Elric Pi, do you know where the Medieval Times is near a Walmart? Apprently we're staying in a housing complex place near there... Hheeyy. I remember that Walmart. That's where my dad locked the car keys inside the car. Fun times. rofl If I recall correctly, that means you're staying in Kissamee (or something spelled like that"... Go to Gator Land while you're there... that place rocks. Well, I'd sure like to meet the Gator in person... -rim shot- -or is that just generally shot?-

Edit: Also given was a bunch of codes on how we're supposed to carry on rites and ceremonies, as well as some prophesies. Wikipedia EntryThe thing that has always gotten me is that the prophecy is often shown in different manners... in a few incarnations I've seen it condemning the entire white race, intermarriage, and more or less everything to do with the whites... and in others I see it being an almost totally positive thing and even exhorting people to adopt certain admirable traits and customs of white culture... including Christianity. The more understanding ones seem to be written in more of the manner of a powerful vision being related, so I lean towards them being the more authentic, but then I might have missed something due to the length of the whole. I'm wondering if I'm just missing something or if it is being co-opted by counter-racist groups within the People.

Well... just like any society, there are those who use dogma to their own agenda, those who take things literally, and those who are open to interpretation. I think what he was trying to get across was that patience, kindness, generousity, compassion, and brotherhood are needed... no matter what the race. You need a clear head to make wise choices that will benefit the 7th generation. Learning about your brothers and them learning about you will encourage tolerance and peace.

Pi, Marni, and I think Skizz... trying to recruit bards. Said they needed 100 of them. Every once in a while, I'll see some random person wandering around looking for bards. xd
