It sounds as though your troops might do better without him, though. So, perhaps you should kill him, after all.

...That's just madness.... Sato, killing anyone right now won't fix the problem. Sometimes superiors make bad descisions, but they're leaders for a reason. Just state your case when they question you, if they could see it from your point...

::Sato shakes her head::

I don't believe that, studmuffin. The Brigadier General is making mistakes that would potentially cost lives. That isn't good. Attrition is a natural course of War, of course. But that doesn't mean that self serving fools can be allowed to make decisions that cause greater losses. Every life lost is a tragedy. And if some hatemongering a** is purposefully sacrificing more lives than he HAS to in order to end a conflict, that person needs to be dealt with. Immediately. And no action is too ******** harsh.

::Sato sighs::

At least.. that's how I feel.

*Melli eyes Kal up and down, none too shocked by his naivete* Don't be a fool. Do you really believe humans in power can be relied on to listen? To open their eyes to the thoughts and feelings of those who don't share their beliefs? *she laughs humorlessly* If I live to see that day, I may well die simply from shock.

:::He slams his fists down:::

They do listen, damnit...

:::With his fists still clentched, he realized he'd given himself away. He quickly sat back down:::

I'm sorry... that was uncalled for. :::He heaved a heavy breathe, and finished off his wine:::

Don't go killing your superiors...it doesn't fix anything. The one after him wont be different right?

::Sato shakes her head::

Not true. It is true that I have no idea that his replacement will be better, but I can certainly say that his replacement would be more cautious. If you take a look at history, uprisings and insubordination against useless beaurocracy is one of the most potent and effective ways to keep a military from becoming self involved and overly powerful.

*Mel nods her agreement* As it is, she knows their leader is ineffective. Change is a risk, but is it better for her to just leave this man in control of her life? I never would.

:::He can't bare to look at them, and mumbles...wishing he didn't have to say it, but not being able to keep it in:::

Right...military, war mongers...best if you all kill each other off...nothing I can change now.

:::Out of their view, his hand is still clentched:::

I don't LIKE it, stud, but if I'm given a choice between taking a life to possibly save thousands.. Guess which I'd choose. That's why I'm a soldier, after all.

*Melliandra, on the other hand, doesn't really seem all that bothered by the idea at all. She turns back to Sato* Is it feasible to overthrow him? Your decision spared the lives of your warriors. Would they side with you over him?

:::At this point, Kal decided to stay out of it. He was out of his time, amongst people who were subject to less developed society... there was no talking to them about peace. He stood up and walked behind the bar in search of another bottle, or something to distract himself with:::

::Sato stretches::

Well, we'll wait and see how things play out a little longer. Perhaps someone higher on the chain will realize the stupidity. Or he'll have a heart attack.. or something.

*Melliandra leans back in her seat, slightly disappointed.* Pity. I'd have enjoyed plotting an uprising. *she runs her index finger around the rim of her glass absently*

:::Kal stops what he's diong and stares blankly at Melliandra. It was a remarkable comment considering his earlier hopes...but she'd already said that she wasn't Luca. She didn't seem like the woman who created the society he lived in, and after all, she was a human from thousands of years ago... he realized he had to hush his thoughts before his head exploded:::

:::He looked for another wine:::
