"I think he must," Cody said. He smiled at Dari. "He knows you guys helped him, I bet. He's safe with you." He fell silent as the dragon was transferred to his arm, eyes wide. Words seemed to fail him, and he gaped for a moment. He stroked Pixie's head gently with his free hand.
"So he's an office dragon," Cody said. "There's more?"

Dari was so entranced watching Cody's joy and grinning that he half-missed the question.
"Hm? More what?"

"More dragons?" Cody asked, looking to Dari. He was still scratching at Pixie. "You said you relocated a flock?" His gaze returned to the tiny dragon. "You're just lovely, aren't you?"

"Oh! No, we don't have any more. We were only in possession of them very briefly before we moved them," Dari said with a nod. "There was a big old girl, though, who was here for a long time. If you get allied, I can show you her file."
Pixie blinked at Cody, but in his defense that was about all he could do. He flapped his wings affectionately and blinked again.

"I'd like to see that," Cody smiled. He really hoped he could be an ally. He wanted to look forward to having the kelpie in class.
"Dari, I think he likes me," Cody was practically beaming. "It's nice to meet you, Pixie."

"You can see a lot more as an ally," Dari said. "He does like you. He's more careful around other people." He liked Dari too, granted, but that didn't necessarily mean acceptance by proxy.
"Seamus might not be so easy-going. I warned him, but he's... cat-like at times."
Pixie shifted and almost fell. Dari reached out reflexively, but Cody had already made it, and he smiled.

"I'm looking forward to becoming an ally," Cody said, smiling at Dari. "I like you too, Pixie." He paused and nodded in understanding. "Maia told me he's nicer if you feed him," he said.
He reached and caught Pixie, carefully helping the little dragon steady himself. "Careful," he said.

"He's more hesitant to sit on people normally," Dari said, and then reached out for Pixie. "Come on. We should let him finish eating." There were still bits of fruit and dead mealworms in his dish.

Cody let Dari take Pixie. "I guess it's time for you to finish lunch," he said, and gave Pixie one last pet.
"Are we going to find Seamus now?" He asked, looking to Dari.

"We can try," Dari said. "If he's not in Research he could be trying to sneak into the cafeteria or visiting someone else, but he always comes back. I can have Lori call us if he shows up." They headed for Research anyway, and Dari reached into his bag.
"Give him this," he said, pulling out a plastic container holding a single store-bought mini cupcake. "Don't let him know I gave it to you."

"Does he have much success at sneaking into the cafeteria?" Cody asked with a grin. It didn't sound like it, if Dari was aware of it.
He took the cupcake and smiled. "Alright," he agreed. The cat who liked cake was being offered cake. "I'm looking forward to meeting him. He sounds fascinating."

"He tries, but he tends to only get in past new people. Everyone else gets him out right away."
They entered the department and there was Seamus, belly-up not inside of but next to his bed, eyes closed.
"Seamus," Dari said, "I brought Cody."
Seamus blinked and craned his neck crazily to get a look at them.

Cat like behavior indeed. He had cat tendencies just like his aunt's cat. That cat preferred what was in the box rather than the gift inside... "I brought you a cupcake, Seamus," he opened the container and held it out. "I've been wanting to meet you."

Seamus' eyes went wide and his pupils narrowed to slits. His claws made an audible sound as they sent him rocketing across the carpet to the cake. Nobody brought him cake but Maia! His tail was ticking excitedly back and forth as he first sniffed and then stole the cupcake and ran away a few feet, just in case it was a trick.
He watched the couple as he ate it.
"Do you think you can show him some of your skills?" Dari asked.
Seamus gave a purr-laden trill.

"Yeah, Seamus. I heard you're the smartest cat sidhe around," he said, and smiled. "You can write, read, and all sorts of things!"
He looked to Dari and smiled. "I think he likes cupcakes," he said.
