They ALWAYS go up. It's because so few Americans have them because most of them don't go anywhere. And for all that they've still got the most obnoxious tourist pressense in the world. They have to make up the cost by gouging everyone.

Doctor Harleen Quinzell It's like $85 or something. US passports are far less ugly than Canadian ones IMO. No, I meant to ask how much the convention cost you.

Querl Dox I disagree. The Japanese have the most obnoxious tourist presence in the world. For me Japanese tourists have been nothing but polite.

I wish my experiences had been the same. I have run into more of the stereotyped "push people down to take pictures in large groups" of Japanese tourists then I care to recount.

In Chicago, I read Vince the impressive speil from inside my passport. Any body of text that begins "Her Britannic Majesty..." is bound to be interesting.
Also, my passport has birdies on it.

In Europe I heard no end of Americans bitching that "what's wrong with these people, nobody speaks English!"

Yeah, when it comes to pushy tourists I'm afraid it's Americans in my experience. They seem to congregate in London, mostly.
Having the phrase "Can't you speak English?" constantly addressed to you when you are English is a tad insulting.
