Why not look at the cheat sheet to see whether Gale is recruitable or not? That's what I do if I'm unsure.

Then take the long way. Use any random unit and tried talking to them. That's what I did when I tried to figure out how to recruit Guy.

The first time for Guy, I was using an emulator and I was under the influence of cheat,s so I moved EVERY UNIT down there, and made sure someone could talk to him.
Infinite movement rocks.

Well... Guy was totally easy for me to recruit, cause I had that whole fangirl thing going on... so I knew that his boyfriend Matthew would recruit him.

Oh... wow... this thread has been dead for three days now. Of course, I haven't been on since the last time I posted... >.>;;;
Hm... I'm not of the opinion that there is a gene that determines sexual orientation. I think that we all start out either pansexual or bisexual, and by a certain age, through the circumstances of our lives, our sexual orientation is formed. After a certain age, it can't be changed. That's what I think. Kinda like how, if you aren't taught a language by a certain age, it's a lot harder to learn it (hense why I suck at french more than I did last time I took it three years ago).
