Miguel can now be a kick-a** uncle, which from experiance is sooo much fun. twisted

And ole Marty than can now be a top-notch dad. Much respect and prayers go out to both you and your familes. All will be well and you'll soon be begging us all to babysit on the weekends.

Thanks for the well wishes, and yes Buttercup was indeed the tomboyish one on Powerpuff Girls.

Both the girls have jaundiss (sp?) now and are undergoing phototherapy. This is fairly common and no big deal.

They're both still have trouble breathing on their own. They've been intubated and extubated (translation: had a tube put in the help them breathe and later taken out.), which helped a lot, but somethings up. Both will be receiving echocardiograms today to try to see what's up. Hopefully it's something that can be cleared up non-invasively (translation: no cuttin' on the kids.).

Buttercup has finally calmed down. They haven't had to sedate her today. Last night they had taped a diaper around her hand like a boxing glove to keep her from pulling her wired and tubes out. She also nearly turned herself over which had me asking the nurses "how in the hell can a kid who is two days old, and two months early be doing that?"

Bubbles is having a little more trouble breathing today than yesterday. Both of them are straining so hard to breath that their chests sink way in when their doing it. They haven't developed fat yet so they're skin and bones.

My mother-in-law arrives tonight and my wife is coming home today.

My nerves are just about shot, so if it seems like I'm rambling and giving too much info, this is just about the only place I'm venting. Everyone else is getting the "everything's fine face". I've got all this stuff I've got to handle, I've got responcibilities, and I've got to work. I feel pretty shitty about not spending all my time in the hospital with them. Hopefully getting some rest in my own bed will help.

We really do appreciate your so called "ramblings" Marty, and we are here for you to vent whenever you need.

His ramblings are quite fun. Plus it's always fun to have somebody that recognizes the horrible horrible side of a Cthulhuian monster.

BED! Oh my glorious, glorious bed! The wife and I are home, meaning I no longer have to sleep on the horrible pull-out contraption the hospital calls a bed.

The doctors have a good idea as to why the girls aren't breathing properly, they both have PDAs. I can't remember the full name, but what it is is a little bit of a heart bypass kids have before they are born. This is there because you don't use your lungs in the womb and the PDAs usually close when you start breathing. Well, they haven't closed so the doctors are administering Indocrine over the next three days. Indocrine is IV Ibuprofin, go figure. Thank you, Vitamin I! This treatment has a very good success rate, however if the girls don't respond well to it, well then it's on to the other option. I don't care if it is the least invasive cardiac surgery there is, I'm not very happy with the notion of "cardiac surgery" and my girl mentioned in the same conversation. Hopefully we'll see good results. Bubbles is working really hard to breathe.

The missus, now having access to her books again did some checking. I was wondering if the doctors dropped the ball in diagnosing Halp Syndrome. Well, the first sign of Halp and pre-eclampsia (the precurser to Halp) is protein in the pee pee. Well, she had passed all of her whiz quizes so the doctors were on the ball. Halp occurs in 7% of pregnancies and is more common in first and multiple pregnancies. It hits out of nowhere and there is no known cause. The intense pain my wife was having is the first symptom. This is followed by sezures, convulsions, coma and a trip to Intensive care.

So yeah, got my bed back. Didn't sleep horribly well though.

The Endocine treatments are working. The girls are breathing much better now. So am I for that matter. My gut's starting send the message out to my brain for the first time since this happened that "everything's gonna be alright." I sat with the girls last night, just me my wife was at home. They were finally breathing without having to work themselves half to death. I nearly dozed off from the stress being lifted off me.

My wife got to hold them both today. Skin-to-skin holding does wonders for children that age. They were very content until...

Buttercup decided she wanted Bubbles pacifier and she reached out and yoinked it right out of her sister's mouth. 6 days old and two month's early and she's pulling this already? I felt bad for Bubbles until she retaliated with an armbar attempt. No, I'm not kidding. The nurses had to pull them apart.

Stress level is decreasing steadily. This week was long on Tuesday. I'm ready to sleep for a month.

I know I'm going to really sound like an a*****e here, but my wife's martyr complex and completely hormonal irrationallity have really hit my last nerve.

I can deal with everything this situation has thrown my way, but I could do it a lot easier if she'd quit being such a total b***h to me. stressed
