RE: Kits I also don't mind stock parts if it makes custom stuff look more unique. I mean, honestly, the only folk's that'll run standard-issue Ork vehicles are the ones that do really bad custom-built vehicles... so do we really lose anything? Azimaith Well if you live in the UK it will probably be different. In the states I can't really drive down to Warhammer World and grab stuff so I rarely if ever see forge world stuff. That's a good point that I rarely touch on in my bitching about Forge World (of which there is a considerable amount). 12% shipping, while perfectly understandable, is wicked harsh - and FW doesn't sell wholesale to ANY international reseller. At the current exchange rate, it's actually cheaper to get it shipped from FW themselves than to buy it retail from TheWarStore in the US because of that last fact there. stressed

There's free shipping when you spend a bomb though. I don't know if FW has a building, where you don't have to pay for shipping. If they do, I can assume it'd be in Nottingham.

But yeah. Store in Nottingham. C'mon, how big is your country? 200 miles across? There isn't even a GW store within 200 miles of my hometown! whee

200 miles across and about 500 miles long, at a guess. That's only England though.
It's true what they say. The English think that 300 miles is a long way, and Americans think that 300 years is a long time.

-Mykal 300 years ago? I think we were still conning the natives out of their land and then shooting them, possibly the other way around. You guys had that game down HUNDREDS of years earlier. wink So...uh... how 'bout them Orks? Spawn More Overlords Grots are kind of a waste. You have warbikes that will provide 5+ cover saves to any units behind them, you have Killer Kans which we all know are big dumb soak. The benefit of Grots is that they'll likely last a WHOLE lot longer than the equivalent amount of bikes. Plus a slaver with rokkit launcha and ammo runts can be a real PITA for a armor-heavy opponent. He'll harass them the whole game unless your opponent concentrates fire on breaking the grots - in which case I'd say you've already won! mrgreen

Ok, i need some advice- Im trying to get a friend into 40k. hes a good friend and wants to play orks. he's already read my rulebook, and he needs some stuff to start in a roughly hundred dollar budget, no more than 120. so heres what I want to start him on, as I'll help pay for it too.
1 ork codex 1 box of lads (Shoota/slugga) 1 modelling starting kit (The good 45$ one with clippers, glue, superglue, paint, brush, the whole 9 yards.) 1 bottle of hastener total- 108$ what say ye?

Check eBay. Some people buy boxes of Boyz and then sell them on. You could save a couple dollars that way.

thanks. and on the Ebay bit... I would prefer to get the stuff on his birthday. you see, when I go to his party, Im staying after they all leave so we can go to the source in Minnesota, and then I can help him out, and also buy some stuff for me to make my force legal. mrgreen also, they might not carry all the stuff there. the boyz and codex, definitely. but the 45$ starter hobby kit... maybe not.

If you don't get the kit, substitute a second box of boyz and a warboss. BAM - core force.

A core force it may be, but supplies to complete them he will lack. $2 super glue, $2 exacto knife (assuming he doesn't own one) and I would assume he could use your paints until such time as he knows what he wants to do. You have Dark Angel Green and Snot Green, right? He should be good with those... biggrin

It definitely would.
I always endorse black, but it's a quick easy solution for a new Ork player.
