Yeees... we sparred today and that was good fun. I think my sparring partner was annoyed because I took bigger steps than she did and punched kind of hard. >>;
I don't know kicks yet, soon soon >:3
Kyandai, did you get the AMV.org account to work?

Have you tried making a new e-mail account and having them e-mail that instead? I think hotmail accounts are still free...

I don't think they allow you to use free e-mail services to create an account anymore...(I think they did when I first joined) Marksmenship(sp?) is alright, but I, personally, find it much more fulfilling to be able to use just my body as a "weapon." (and when practicing Aikiken...basically a big stick biggrin *bokken*)

Ouch.. I'm not going to pay for an email. I don't believe in paying for anything you use online. 3nodding
Aikiken? A big stick? Like a bo or something? They are bloody hard to use!

(and when practicing Aikiken...basically a big stick biggrin *bokken*) I dunno, I liked the whole build-up of getting a shot lined up followed by the release of letting it loose. And I found the breathing rhythm pretty comforting... Oh, and you can really intimidate someone who's bothering you if you mention you could blow out their eyes with a rifle before they'd even realize you had them in your sights. Oh, and given he said bokken at the end, I suspect he means he uses a bokken, but I'm not sure on that... I luv mah bokken, though I'm not skilled with it at all.

A bokken is basically a wooden katana, used for practicing the various arts of the Japanese sword. (Aikiken is the Aikido version of katana sword style) And yes...Bos are very hard to use. (has a friend who practices with one) sybrid I dunno, I liked the whole build-up of getting a shot lined up followed by the release of letting it loose. Can't argue much with you there. It is just as nice to intimidate someone by saying they'll be on the ground before they knew what hit them...without the cause of...well...death. biggrin Different strokes for different folks, they say.

I used to do a bit of bo work a couple of years ago but as I didn't own one, I had to use a broom stick handle which was probably better since I kept hitting myself in the head trying to kata. xd

People leave you alone faster if you skip the "I will hurt you" phase and go straight to "Go the ******** away before I kill you" phase. In my experience, people tend to take the "I will hurt you" phase as flirting, which defeats the whole purpose of the threat: getting people to stop bothering you.

Meh, the idea of learning kendo makes me giddy, but mom refuses to pay for it and I have no monies...
yay for the Ymca having cheap karate class...
And why the hell IS that that people take I will hurt you as flirting?... They tink you mean S&M or something? eek I mean, what the duck...
Bokkens are nifty, we had some at a friends birthday party... but dear lord, don't ever give anime geeks black tshirts, caffiene, and wooden ninja weapons. It's just a bad idea.

I can imagine... sybrid>> I guess its the notion that says, "Oh, she's a girl, she couldn't beat me up." idea...(good lord, that is a very ignorant/stupid/arrogant assumption...I've seen videos of women in martial art competitions that would make most men shiver in their boots) I can see how, in your case, it is better (easier) to use the "I will kill you!" phase. I almost feel sorry for the guys who would try to challenge that...almost. Kyandai>> The guy who teaches me, a student from Vietnam, is very interesting to watch...He's been practicing for a long time...and is quite good. The way he moves looks so easy.

Lmao, that brings back memories of a slightly intoxicated me with a set of nun-chucku.. Ashram, don't you just hate it how they do that? They make it looks like you could learn it in a few weeks or something.. sweatdrop

I've been learning Akiken for about a year now, and I'll still learning the basics. (but it is great that my instructor *I'll just call him Duy from now on* tells me that I am improving quickly...he wants to start sparring me this semester xd *my pride is going to take a serious beating LoL*)
