Crosby vs. Ovechkin will no doubt provide many thrills, especially durin' postseason, in years ahead. Each young star is spearheadin' a rapidly improvin' team. Penguins are likely to be feared when playoffs arrive n' Capitals still have a shot at a berth.

Here are some iconic sports hairdos Don King Only in America can a man who looks like he just stuck his finger in an electrical outlet rule a sport for decades. His hair is stupendous, startlin' n' stupefyin'. If it was a fight, it would have been stopped long ago.

Pat Riley Slicked-back Gordon Gekko look is pure '80s. Unfortunately, Riles is still wearing it rather than merely catchin' glimpses on VH-1. Somehow style has picked up imitators such as Billy Donovan n' Steve Lavin.

Oscar Gamble There were a lot of great '70s Afros, such as those sported by Darnell Hillman n' Dr. J., but Gamble's stood out. It wasn't just astonishin' volume but fact that hair topped the Yankee pinstripes later in his career, sports world's equivalent of conservative navy-blue suit.

Troy Polamalu Unable to be contained by a mere football helmet, Polamalu's flowin' locks were breakout star of 2005 NFL postseason. Like hard-hittin' safety on field, Polamalu's hair seems to be flowin' everywhere at once.

Andre Agassi Fightin' a recedin' hairline, younger Agassi tried to fool America with curls on top n' a flowin' mullet in back. Perhaps his commercial tagline of time -- "Image is everything" -- was meant to be ironic. Eventually he wised up n' shaved his head, simultaneous with a career resurgence. Coincidence? We think not.

Jimmy Johnson Only coach to wear a helmet both on sidelines n' off. Most scientists pin ozone depletion on Johnson's hairspray habit. Critics sometimes called Johnson hard-headed, but given his impenetrable hair, how could they possibly know?

Carlos Valderrama For years, only soccer player most Americans could have picked out of a lineup was orange-Afro'd Colombian midfielder. His 'do made Carrot Top's look conservative. Question: How did he ever manage to head a ball through that mane?

Johnny Damon His Jesus-like locks might be gone since he took Boss Steinbrenner's money in New York, but Damon's mane will be long remembered for, well, its length. Stranded-in-wilderness look somehow worked for Kansas native. It also made him a natural leader of Boston's "Idiots" that broke Curse in 2004.

Dorothy Hamill 1976 Olympic figure skatin' gold medalist launched 1 of most copied female hairstyles of all time -- Hamill Wedge. Hamill was even stopped by strangers who complimented her "Dorothy Hamill haircut" without realizin' who she was. Only Olympic hair that rivals Hamill's is Mark Spitz's mustache.

Gene Keady Longtime Purdue coach took comb-over to a new level of disrepute by applyin' what appeared to be some sort of black lacquer. You'd need to drink more than a few Boilermakers to think this abomination looked good.
