The Great Absolute
I'm glad I am a good RPer and a good fighter so I shouldn't have to worry about faltering on a rubric. I make sure I am detailed and have plenty of flare and action in my posts.

Ertai gets the Gold Star! =D

Seriously, that read like a five-year-old's journal entry and why they're absolutely the bestest! =P

^---I added lots of smiley faces so you know I'm not really angry because I know you're concerned about that and I thank you for it! =)

In fact, the only guideline for this tournament I've seen is simply, "Use common sense." Follow the AMP. I don't think Hero has posted his guidelines for what is or is not acceptable in a profile.

There are effectively no real rules to this, as such you should basically treat it as you would any non-tournament RP fight aside from the fact that you're operating out of an accepted profile.

And I do mean effectively no real rules, since as much as people love to say "we use AMP rules here" the thing is literally 'baby's first rulebook' when it comes to RPing. I was definitely a part of it back in the day, in like... 2003. Hung out in the thread, answered questions, the whole lot. But it's basically a bulleted list of terms referring to common sense things.

AMP is a bad RPers crutch.

Just NO U and point out s**t on that list with out giving logical definitions.

I'll call bullshit on this ^

It isn't even anything like that. I'd love for you to explain why it would be like reading a manual? I don't expect someone to count the number of dirt particles on their pants or how far their toes are apart.

I do expect from the people here to post proper mechanics and if they're using a weapon or a martial form to know how to describe transitions from one attack to another and proper technique and form.

Any of the scrubs can grab a rapier and swing it around and act as if they're a fencer. I'd like to at least know you're read on the subject so when it comes time for you to argue I just lololol all the way to the rage bank and deposit their crying a**, bitching about something I did because it was lost in the text they should have read.

The reason is because in order to convey, let's say, a 'single counter' in the sixte position, I have to explain in non-roleplay subtext what the hell a single counter is and why/how its a single motion, explain wtf 'sixte' even means, detail why the leverage of my blade is capable of shunting a heavier sword due to positioning, describe all the various shifts of weight and position in my stance (more if I'm wielding an offhand like I am now), the attacking position on the counter and why it's fast and effective, and then describe the disengage.

It took me three paragraphs just to accurately describe a blade disengage.

That's a lot of non-roleplay text in an ostensibly roleplaying tournament.

Each post I make is effectively leading up to a singular action and once the fight engaged I respect the logical reaction stack of events in a fight so really you will take an entire post to describe your counter / defense and transition to the next attack. Any movement or subsequent action after the attack is implying an autohit. Hence why I stop right after I attack unless it is dialogue in concurring actions, internalizing thoughts or background s**t.

So the notion that too much detail is stupid, is just ******** dumb in itself. I won't point fingers but when I read a post that is like 2-3 sentences I laugh. I cannot in good faith take that serious. All I want to do is link them to some stupid vampire in the woods RP in BT.

Again, not saying it's dumb, but that its boring. For a dude that makes such a big deal out of reading comprehension, I'd have thought you understood that aspect by now.

As for follow-up actions, I always write them as 'Even if I miss, I am doing this thing' not 'I hit, and then do this other attack'.

I'm not saying you said it was dumb.

I never said you said it was dumb-

I don't like to chain attacks like that, maybe it was how I developed, it just spurns the whole AUTO-HITTTTTTTTTT, AMP fags have a field day with that s**t, especially if they hate you lololol.

I see a lot of you have been severely damaged over the years.

Who hurt you boo? ...Who hurt you?

I see so many of you have adapted a fighting style that protects you OOCly basing your actions and how you write on the possibility of your opponent dicking you over.

rolleyes

Or maybe the possibility of your character being skilled and fighting with contingency plans in order not to die.

Dunno just a stab in the dark.

Much love.

This is how an OOC should be.

Well if your conversation depicted that then I would agree but most of your views on how a fight should be conducted are from an OOC point of veiw as oppose to IC.

The length of writing, the amount of detail...OOC stuff.
