Miyuki paused and nodded, "Yes, they haven't eaten yet so...."

So they would be coming down anyways, and it was clear Uncle Dareon was not in a hurry to give up holding the baby. So, slowly turning around she joined them back at the table.

Miyuki shook her head, "It wasn't, she was nice enough."

And she meant that, Ahkshi's mother after all didn't insult them or say anything mean, or even glare at them. So she was fine with that.

"Nothing specific, we just headed straight to the clinic," Miyuki admitted, "But from what I saw, it looks really interesting out there."

There just wasn't anything that specifically grabbed her attention.

Miyuki nodded at this, besides it was important for her teacher to meet everyone and since they would be here a while, Lancaeriel might as well meet everyone.

"It'll be fun!" she grinned before looking back at her parents.

"So we're going to wander after our meal?" Lin asked, "Or is there anywhere in particular to check out?"

"Ahkshi gave us directions to the tailor's," Iorlas replied. "And he was so kind as to tell us to have the tailor bill him for some clothes for Amir." She smiled widely. "It's easy to see why Kyrie married him. He really is very nice."

Daeron eyed his wife, half grinning at her. "You're going to make me jealous if you keep going on like that," he teased her. "First your open admiration of Uruloki and how gorgeous he is, and now over Ahkshi's kindness ..."

He reached over and poked her in the ribs, and Iorlas squealed and giggled.

"Daeron!" she chided him, trying to keep her voice down. "Don't be silly!"

Earendil chuckled and pulled out a chair for Lin to sit on. "You two."

Iorlas' entire face lit up at Lin's question.

"He's doing great!" she said enthusiastically. She gestured towards the boy on Daeron's lap. "He's sitting up mostly on his own, he's been drinking the formula that Ahkshi prepared for him, he's wide awake ... Ahkshi says he's going to make it and within a few days he should be back to normal."

"With one exception," Daeron added as Earendil took a seat beside Lin. "He still hasn't made a sound, and Ahkshi has expressed his concern that perhaps his voice was damaged, perhaps by smoke, perhaps by the dehydration. We won't know until either he starts making noises, or else a situation arises where it would otherwise be impossible to cry or scream."

Iorlas reached over and stroked the boy's head gently. "And his hair should start growing back within a few days," she murmured.

"Because of his mixed parentage?" Lancaeriel asked with a smile.

Though she would be the first to admit, it was fascinating to see the way some of the bloodlines mixed. The elves of this continent were so different from those of the Four Lands.
