You were created to fight, even before you understood truly how or why, to fight and fight, to fight and feel strange emotions and then in a moment of whim, in a battle you didn't quite understand you lost everything.
As you watch the battle, as panicked, you and the final ones remaining try to stave off an opponent you barely even understand, everything begins to turn black and white, just as your arms finally shatter off, like porcelain, as your legs give in, as you fall over, like a statue. You can't even speak now, you can't move you can't talk, all you can do is watch as your vision finally fades away.
Finally, you go Home.

Anna stared at their opponent - there were so few ghouls left. So few. She drew another arrow and aimed it, but the curse crackled against her fingertips and the string. It hung there for a few more seconds before dissolving, unsent. She had no idea of the significance of the artifact their opponent revealed - none whatsoever - but it was clear from the Professor's reaction that it was something bad. Something dangerous.
And then, without warning, she was lifted off her feet; she shrieked, startled, her bow evaporating. Everything semeed to happen at once - she saw the other ghouls held high, then a flare of green light that seemed to tear the world in two.
She was falling.
When she opened her eyes again, she saw only Professor QB - no, no, there were others too. Still. She closed her eyes once more against a sudden press of tears at the Professor's words.
"G-go," she confirmed, looking at those few who remained. "I-it's okay. It's going to be okay now. You're going to remember. R-really."
Oh, Jack, she hoped it really was going to be okay.

“It’s nothing, I’ll l --“ Alvar’s words were cut short as her attention was drawn to the fight between the thing that had greeted them and the enemy they had fought before. What…The thing was on the floor. Defeated, but it spoke to them all.
Quote:
... Don't worry everyone! You fought well, you did make a difference. I believe your wish has been fulfilled. Now there is one last thing you must do, do you remember what it is?
...
It's okay, you don't have to fight any more. They're waiting for you now. You have fulfilled this contract.
They what?
She wasn’t sure what to feel, and it took a second for her to process the situation. Baffled beyond belief, she started yelling “THIS IS B --“ The words never made it out as her world became static. Her eyes wide as her very existence shattered into pieces. Adelaide’s shield, once held on her free arm, fell to the ground in company of her remains.
"Tara! We're over here! We're okay!" Taika called, waving her over. Her eyes shone as she squeezed Willow again. Then, she walked over and grabbed Tara's hand, trying to pull her towards Willow so they could group-hug and comfort each other, as survivors.
She had to turn and watch, to see the mysterious thing that had guided them speak with their enemy.
<... Don't worry everyone! You fought well, you did make a difference. I believe your wish has been fulfilled. Now there is one last thing you must do, do you remember what it is? >
She still only had vague memories. A wish to protect, to rescue, to keep safe. That was what she had wanted, wasn't it?
< It's okay, you don't have to fight any more. They're waiting for you now. You have fulfilled this contract. >
Fulfilled her contract? What contract? Was that the promise she had made? "Tara, Willow, I don't understand, what's...going on...?"
And then she began to crack. It trailed up from her feet, and up her fingers and hands and arms, and her eyes went wide. All the color vanished from her vision as she began to crumble to pieces.
Something was waiting for her, and she knew it - something that meant leaving her new- old, maybe? - friends behind. In her last few moments, her eyes closed, and she smiled.
Ashleigh kept herself between their opponent, who continued to mow down girls with terrible ease, and the fragile looking Orina (and Alysabette, by coincidence. Small shivers wracked her, the cold that had begun in her feet feeling as if it had spread upward, throughout her body, leaving her chilled to the core.
"A little farther..." She trailed off, eyes widening as the little...vaguely feline being showed back up, to confront their foe. Their conversation was a series of riddles to her, still not making sense. And then...they clashed, and her attention was riveted; Orina and Alysabette completely forgotten as she stared, feeling a small wrench in her chest as the...well, their guide, for lack of a better term, fell, with another cryptic remark about their wish.
That damn wish again...I still don't remember...
...Waiting? Who was they? Those who had already disintegrated before their very eyes? Or the ones that teased at her non-existent memories?
There wasn't much time to question, but she raised her scythe anyway, as if she could somehow stave off the inevitable, her arms breaking off at the elbow before her very eyes, her weapon falling to the ground, as if in slow motion, her eyes widening in a horror-filled sort of disbelief as her forearms shattered as they hit the ground, leaving small, sparkly shards, as fine as diamond dust, tinkling lightly as they scattered across the ground.
She couldn't even scream, her throat locked in a sort of agonized disbelief--there was nothing that would allow her to press on, to continue fighting, and she struggled to come to grips with that depressing little fact, even as her legs collapsed beneath her, her body pitching forward.
Fortunately, her vision faded away before she hit the ground, and she was already gone, her consciousness (what there was of it) already gone when her body smashed on impact, breaking into millions of pieces. At that last instant, weaving through her panic was a sense of...homecoming, and a certain degree of comfort. And then she was nothing.

Elspeth watched, her hands to her chest, clutching her precious gem now realizing that her life depended on it. She watched as girl by girl cracked and shattered before her eyes fighting this endless fight. This pointless fight. But a promised fight. She watched as her friends went away, some abandoning them with promises. And here, she watched the creature who took their memories away fight for them to protect their promise. Her hands came up to her mouth as she gasped as the creature was thrown back by this mysterious person. It's crippled and wisping state was pitiful and yet she could not hate it. She felt poorly for it. Tears welled up again as she watched on.
<... Don't worry everyone! You fought well, you did make a difference. I believe your wish has been fulfilled. Now there is one last thing you must do, do you remember what it is? >
One last thing? What was it? Please, whatever it was, she had would do it if it meant fulfilling her promise. Elspeth tried her damnedest to remember and all she could was the phrase from before. "Return Everything."
They?... Who was they?... Elspeth fell to her knees, now completely lost. The contract was fulfilled and yet... she remembered nothing. She looked down to the open palms on her lap, unsure what to do next. The girl unbuckled the book to her side and opened it up. Slowly words began to appear. Word by word, punctuations and spaces, but her eyes, filled with tears that stained the vellum pages, made it extremely difficult for her to read. She felt her body become stiff and harder to do much of anything. Even her eyes refused to obey. And all she saw before things lost its light were the words 'Return everything to the way it was'.

Around her all the other girls held themselves together before falling apart.
Hecate's almond, green eyes widen as she felt her leg and arm on her left shatter.
She fell, but caught herself with one good leg and took a really good look at her other half.
He body is slowly shattering off and turning to dust, cracks appear on her face and she shuts her eyes from the pain.
A final ringing was in her ears as she open her eyes a little to find the opponent coming closer to her.
Tossing her Fear Gem out, she raised her staff to it and made it glow a shining green.
"Please....Please..."
She saw the opponent upon her.
"No more."
The ringing was no more.

A gasp escaped her lips as the figure returned, and she clutched Alvar, fearing what would happen. What was that object? She watched wide-eyed as the familiar attacked the onslaught of creatures, grateful for his help, as as they were, there was no way they could fight against another. Not against so many.
There was another gasp, this time of shock, as she watched the familiar begin to... dissipate? So... this figure had been lying to them! They didn't want to help them at all, or else why would they (she?) attack the familiar? He was only trying to help them!
Trembling, she tried to hold back her sobs as she watched the poor thing's form slowly break apart, feeling the same thing happening to her. Wait, no! This was...
<... Don't worry everyone! You fought well, you did make a difference. I believe your wish has been fulfilled. Now there is one last thing you must do, do you remember what it is? >
Her... wish?
< It's okay, you don't have to fight any more. They're waiting for you now. You have fulfilled this contract. >
... they? Thalia, Tatiana, the other girls... Would she really get to see them again?
She heard the sound of her shield hitting the floor, and turned, only to see that Alvar was no more. "Al-" She couldn't speak, couldn't move. So tired... why was she so...
An odd sense of calm washed over her as her eyelids began to droop, her limps peeling away into nothingness. The girl who was once known as Adelaide, was no more.
They didn't have long to worry about wether it was worth it, or what any of them would have wanted. They couldn't decide if they wanted to try to protect anything or nothing. Instead, another fight broke out much like it always seemed to do. Orina merely stopped to stare, quite like some of the others. They didn't know what to make of it. Then again, none of them did.
This time, beyond words, the creature was fighting with them against the stranger. Who had returned. Tamara... wasn't with her. She grimaced, that hollow ache starting up again as she braced herself in both fear, and preparation to fight. They'd taken them all away. Those creatures. It was their fault. She felt tears pricking at the corners of her eyes as she gripped at her weapons. Though her fingers found nothing as the creature was falling.
Her turn to fight seemed never to come as she once more attempted to find the chakram set once more. Nothing. It wasn't that they were gone, but father her fingers, her very being was unraveling as she spoke and thought. As it lay there she felt the question once more.
Her wish?
Her wish had been to protect them. Even now though, she watched as all of the girls about her seemed to be facing the same fate. Ashleigh seemed to vanish with a silent cry before she herself did, but it wasn't any more reassuring. Her eye's fled to her fellow comrade who, she could only imagine, was unraveling at the seems to the small crystalline particles as she was. She didn't even have the strength to cry as this point as her entire being slowly faded, the question still flooding her mind.
Her wish? What did she desire beyond all else? ...had it been granted as the creature said?
Her lips formed a silent sentence at that point, no sound escaping as she ceased to be. I wished... No, there wasn't enough left to even tell. What had once been Orina was no more, merely a few thoughts left to the insanity.

Aria turned from where she'd been soothing Vatatchi to see the small creature had appeared once again to argue with the shadow being. The shadow claimed the battle was won while the creature yelled something about Humans and Halloween. Aria let go of Vatatchi completely as more shadows rose from the ground and the creature joined the fray, swiftly removing them just as quickly as they'd appeared. Aria gasped as it dove for the shadow and was violently repelled. She felt what she could only describe as pity for the pathetic creature as it laid in a crumpled heap on the floor. As the shadow bid its farewells and disappeared, Aria was surprised to hear the creature now addressing the remaining girls.
Her wish was fulfilled? When? She had a vague idea what her wish might have been, but nothing concrete, only feelings. She continued to stare at the creature in confusion, even as the creature began muttering some strange words... an incantation?
Aria had no time to mull it over, as she immediately noticed how her extremities had taken on a rigid quality. Looking down she stared in horror as her fingers began cracking, then breaking and scattering into the air. She looked towards where Elsapeth had last been, only managing to catch a tiny glimpse of what was left of her form before it vanished into dust. Trying to catch her breath as her heart seemed to fight over whether it wanted to speed up or slow down, she turned to Vatatchi once more. Relief crossed her face upon seeing the girl still standing there, albeit crumbling as Aria was.
She opened her mouth to call to the other girl. "...", her eyes widened in shock at how she'd become literally speechless. Realizing she was running out of time, she grabbed Vatatchi's crumbling hand and held it in both of hers, hoping to convey without words the things she wanted to, but could no longer say. I'm sorry that I'm breaking my promise right after I made it. I'm sorry I couldn't be strong enough to protect everyone. You won't have to disappear alone. I'll stay with you. We'll both go together. Aria squeezed her hands tighter in effort to solidify the words her mind wanted to scream, hoping the other girl could still feel it. She gave one last apologetic smile as a wave of dizziness washed over her and she closed her eyes in an effort to focus.
Aria was met with a dreamy, weightless sensation. She smiled as the answer she'd been seeking finally came to her, as if it'd been there all along, waiting for her to find it. Yes... if she'd had a wish, this must surely be it. The thing she wanted the most, enough to risk her life... was... to...

Maria sighed as she glanced away. None of them could remember a thing. It was hard to think that out of everyone there was, no one could remember their wish. Frowning, she closed her eyes and tried to think about it again. She wanted so hard to remember what her wish was. If only she had another clue. What was it? What was her wish? Come on... She had to think. Maybe if she thought hard enough, or long enough... she could remember. Just when she thought she had something, another voice joined. It was different from the others. Maria knew this voice didn't belong to her friends or the little creature that had helped them along their way. Opening her eyes, maria looked in the direction everyone else seemed to be looking. She watched amazed as the monster they had been fighting shifted. It shifted and changed its form. When it was done, standing before them was... some kind of woman figure? Astonished, all she could do was stand there and listen to the argument between the womanly figure and the little creature. Deceived? Just what did she mean by that? How could they be deceived? It didn't make any sense. If anything, how did they know if they weren't being deceived right now? This woman could be deceiving them at this very moment! Glancing around her, Maria could see others talking about what she had said. Some even began to follow her. Now she had a choice to make. Would she say to fight along side the others? Or would she go with the other figure? The figure promised to help them and find peace. Yet she had been the one to attack them. How could she promise something like that after attacking them! It didn't make any sense to her. She glanced at Tamara who made her way over to the figure. She couldn't believe that she was actually going. She knew she had no say. It was Tamara's choice to go if she wanted. But now Maria felt conflicted. Frustrated and angry she glared at the figure. After a few moments, she made she choice. "I don't care what you promise... I'm not going with you." She tightened her grip on her staff. "You make a promise of peace and telling us who were are, yet you were the one who attacked us." She made her choice. "I'm not going." Maria turned to face the creature alongside the ones who chose to stay. She didn't care what the woman promised. The creature had helped them this far. It must have a reason for them being there. Lifting her staff, she gathered all her strength. Once again she called upon the wind and shaped it. The wind formed into a giant sphere and she sent it sailing toward the monster. When it hit, Maria was suddenly overwhelmed with a feeling. What was this? She suddenly remembered something... no, someone. But who? She couldn't tell. All she saw was the figure of someone. Someone... talking to her. She couldn't understand what they were staying but... it was... smiling. A soft smile as it spoke to her. It made her feel good... Warm and content. Then it was over. Brought out of her memory, Maria only had seconds to act. She quickly jumped to the side to avoid a hit. She quickly recovered and sent a bast of razor wind at it. Once again when the monster was hit, she was pulled into a memory. Only this time it wasn't so happy. She was in darkness for a few seconds, then images began to flood her mind. Ones of pain and anguish. Someone was gone. Someone she knew... but couldn't remember. She saw herself crying. Standing over someone she couldn't see. She couldn't remember! This person was someone close to her, someone she mourned and she couldn't even remember them! When she opened her eyes again, she found herself on her knees as tears slipped down her cheeks. Why was this happening? Why couldn't she remember? Frustrated and angry, she clutched her staff hard. She turned all anger and frustration toward the monster and charged at it. Summoning the wind, she shaped it around the tip of her staff. The wind moved and swirled around the tip of her staff, turning the end of her staff into a type of spear. Once close enough to the monster, she jumped and summoned the wind around her. She used the wind to launch herself into the air and toward the monster, plunging the wind like spear into it.

He strike hit hard and was on target. The attack did quite a bit of damage but it wasn't enough. Before she could escape from the monster, she felt a sharp pain in her back. She fell to the ground crying silent tears. The pain in her back was great. But she couldn't stop. Groaning, she managed to sit up. She wasn't sure how. She was tired and in pain. All she wanted to do was lay down but she knew she couldn't. Glancing down at her body, she noticed thick black cracks that formed across her body and continued to spread. "Wha... what is this?" She looked at her hands. What was wrong with her? It was like her body wasn't her own. Like it was some kind of shell.

A last battle. Orabel braced herself as the opponent started to fight the creature that had been there from the beginning, but then... he was shut down.
Lying there, helpless.
She was unable to move, unable to speak. Orabel was frozen, her arms and legs beginning to crackle and wither off like burned paper, everything turning to black and white in her vision.
She was created to fight, and this was her end.
Her vision was fading, and her last thought -- her last regret -- was that she didn't get to make any friends with any of the girls here.
Standing with her hand still reaching out to the crumbling girl, Esme stood, gaping at the scene that played out in front of all the girls.
< Then I will fight as well to keep their promise. >
Everyone around her was forgotten, her own failing body barely registered as white noise. How could the small creature fall like that? It was supposed to be there to guide them, to bother them, to take care of them.
<... Don't worry everyone! You fought well, you did make a difference. I believe your wish has been fulfilled. Now there is one last thing you must do, do you remember what it is?>
Frustration, confusion, anger, and sudden guilty feelings of responsibility and of failure surged up until they were indistinguishable from each other. It was thanking them as it die-disappeared. Telling them they did a good job. That their wish had been fulfilled. But it hadn't! She hadn't wanted this, she had wanted -
Oh.
But it was too late, and as she stood with an almost comical expression of shock and confusion, hand out, the monsters flowed through the girls around her, shattering and cracking them, and she didn't even have the mental capacity to summon her weapon, her head was so crowded and she would survive and they would all survive and it would be ok and everything would make sense in the end.
Clinging desperately to that final thought, she barely noticed herself toppling backwards and hitting the floor, didn't realize as her vision faded away, and was entirely unaware when the final thought stopped.
She listened to the talk between the two creatures, but that didn't mean she understood any of it. It surprised her when the strange creature that had been attempting to help her this whole time lept at the thing they'd been fighting, only to die. they were doomed...they never had a chance. She watched everyone falling apart around her and she was terrified. They tried so hard to live, to fight...in the end did it matter? So many of them dead, not a single one of them left standing. Cautious as she tried to be she could feel herself falling apart and even that crystal she saved couldn't help her now. She watched her new...friends, she supposed, fall into nothing and it wrenched at something deep inside; a feeling of failure that she'd felt once before a very long time ago. This was the end. But the end of what?
It was the questions that infuriated her as she fell apart into nothingness; she would never know any of the answers. They say the dead don't care about anything anymore. She could only hope that was true.
