"That makes two of us." Lark whispered back become kissing him. she only meant for it to be a quick kiss but it seemed Devon wanted otherwise after all it had been weeks since they really kissed liked this and it felt good. Even though she was still weak she trusted Devon not to push her or demand more of her so soon besides she wouldn't go that far until her wedding night which made her think what was taking him so long but she didn't worry about it. She knew he loved her and only her and she trusted that and she also knew Devon would never hurt her in her weakened state so she kissed him gladly

Devon kissed her deeply, careful now to go too far, but beyond giving her a peck. He pulled away with effort and exhaled heavily. He didn't want to push her, but he couldn't deny that he wanted it to last longer. But he would wait. She was worth it. "If you feel up to it. How about I take you out this weekend." he said slowly.

Lark melted into the kiss surprised by how much fire Devon was putting into it but she went with it and was a little disappointed when he pulled away from the kiss even though she understood why she needed to break away also. "Yes. I would like that. Where would we go? "she asked to change the subject

Devon paused thoughtfully. "Hmmm. I think I have an idea, but I think it would be better if it was a surprise. That sound alright?" he asked. "You can trust me not to take you to some place ridiculous." he assured her.

Lark pecked him on the check smiling embarrassment forgotten for the time being. "I trust you. So I have a question everyone else has given me a gift and I not being greedy but I have to wonder where did your gift get to." She asked innocently giving him her big strawberry brown eyes

Devon smiled. "You'll have to wait a little longer for my gift." he said. "You just relax and enjoy yourself. I'll go get you some cake." He got up from the couch briefly to get some for them both. He was back in a matter of moments.

Lark giggled a little but nodded in acceptance even though her curiosity may get the best of her as Devon well knew. She grinned when she saw the cake it was chocolate with strawberry her favorite. It was good to see that he had been listening after instead of just staring off into space like he seemed to do that night they talked about it even though it was late at night. She had a big smile on her face a she took a few bites of it. "Best thing I ever tasted I can't tell you how sick of hospital food I have gotten." she said cheerily now that they were alone at least for the moment she wanted to ask her something that had been bugging her. "Devon" she started her tone more serious this time to get his full attention. "Back when Robin was hurting me, did you hear me calling out to? I wanted to know because you didn't answer like you normally do what was happening in your mind it got strange.." she trailed off waiting for his answer

Devon's expression grew a bit pained as she asked her question. It was not something he wanted to disgust in the midst of a party. Plus, even if he could his wolves could hear if they were paying attention. It wasn't that it was harmful information, but it wasn't something he wasn't comfortable discussing among crowds. "I don't think now is the time to talk about this." he tried to push it off.

Lark sighed accepting his request even though her curiosity didn't fade it was just put on hold because she didn't want to see the pained expression on his face anymore finishing her cake she set the dish it had been on aside to lean on his shoulder cuddling into him saying something that she knew would have him smiling. "So who's the fastest runner you or Fred?" she asked playfully

Devon shrugged. "Fred." he answered truthfully. "He's one of the fastest of the pack, though I can come close." He knew each of the packs strengths and weaknesses. In fact he was eager to share them with her. They talked and even a few of the pack joined in. So there conversation continued in a more casual direction as the gathering continued on. It was a few more hours before the room began to clear. The pack wished Lark well as they slowly trickled out. Soon it was just them and Theresa. (Devon's father had left for a little visit to the bar with a few of the older members)

Lark was leaning on Devon by the time things winded down even though she was just talking with Devon and her mother she was running on low energy she was still having fun. "Oh I almost forgot," Lark spoke sitting up and taking off the amulet that was under her shirt. "Here Ms. Lander this belongs to you." she said handed it over

Theresa looked at it and took Lark's hand. He placed the amulet back in her palm. "No. You keep it. I don't have any need for it. Plus, it's rightfully yours." she said, with a kind smile.

Lark looked at her stunned because she couldn't believe what she was hearing it wasn't like she didn't like the amulet she thought it was pretty and she wanted to keep it but it didn't seem right it was a part of Devon's linage it was his and belonged with werewolves not humans which is what she was even though she was paired with one and lived with a pack it still didn't feel quite right. "Are you sure, I mean it's been in your family for a long time it doesn't seem right that I should take it." Lark said

Theresa shook her head. "It has nothing to do with race. I had for save keeping as did the leader before me. And so on." she explained. "It's yours now. I have no use for it." She smiled and stood. "Think of it as a blessing. You should wear it often."

Lark smiled and nodded putting it back on, liking that thought but she never understood how it came into her possession to begin with she woke up with Devon's farther carrying her after she had 'supposedly' died with Devon claiming that his parents had the saved the both of them how had her temporary death affected him that he had saved? Or did he mean that by her being saved to it saved him from pain and guilt. "Thank you." she said turning to Devon she let him get a better view of it. "Well what do you think?" she asked planning on getting answers to her questions when they were alone and Devon knew she would too
