Pulling his gloves back on, Jan stood up and left the room, taking away the minor hinderance to Nines getting out of there unscathed.

None, for good reason...
Nines mumbled the last bit, more to himself than anyone else. He sighed, and adjusted the bag again as he set out for the door, mumbling wordless things under his breath as he went.

A text would blink on Roan's phone, from an unknown number.
Address is a suicide run. It's either than, or anything you're willing to offer. Sorry I can't be a good person or conversationalist; it's a fault I can't seem to shake. But maybe if i keep the mouth shut I can at least be a good gunman, if you'll accept a fool's apology.

Waving him to sit, she did likewise, opposite, and carefully avoided a direct response to what he had just said.
"I have employed a geneticist at the Foundation. I want you to go and meet him tomorrow night, and do as he requests, please. There is a great deal I wish to understand, including why the sword speaks to you, and why it has chosen now. I believe there is something to be learned on a much deeper level, and I'm already down one source.
Assist him. And take a look around while you are there."

Shoulders dropping slightly at the avoidance of the points he'd brought up he however accepted this as a means of getting there so he sat without a fuss and listened.
"Well there was nothin' out teh ordinary. Since you mention it, teh Daemon spoke to me again, but told 'him off 'n' carried on."
"As fer the Geneticist, do you trust 'im? I'll 'ead out on yer word but is that why you want me to take a look 'round?"

"I trust him, or I wouldn't have hired him. Drink well today. He will desire samples tomorrow.
We will discuss the Daemon again when you return. That he is still reaching you troubles me.

It was a dismissal, if polite. One could only assume it had something to do with the person who had been here, and was now gone.

The following evening, Roan's phone buzzed a mere five minutes after Corbin was due to leave. The message was from Nines, and hit her in the sternum enough to double her over.

Something in her reacted to that like a scalded cat, and for a second, she swore someone was watching her.... whirling around, no one was there.
She text him back an address, different to the first, with no word of explanation or anything else. Just an address.

Not aboout to risk running his mouth ahead of himself again, Corbin nodded and took his leave to follow her advice. He'd spend the rest of the night topping up his vitae levels almost to the point of excess.
The next day though he'd emerge to once again approach Roan for the location, armed it would seem with just the knives in his pockets, as this wasn't a task with threat he could see, but he didn't like being unarmed entirely. He also brought the feather with him this time, kept in his wallet.

Roan, it would seem, had not returned from the previous night, however Jan seemed non-plussed about this when he presented Corbin with the address he would need, and the keys to the usual motorbike.
A wish of good luck, and he'd be left to travel to the place alone.

(( Last Post)) Dagoth let out a long whistle when she explained the true matter behind her Tattoos. This technique wasn't unknown to the Pirate, he had seen it several times in his long life and had taken some training but the level she was showing was beyond him.
"I always knew you were literate but that's another level. Dae, just don't rush...."
The pirate grabbed her shoulders and with another awkward pause he hugged her deeply ruffling her hair like he did when they were much longer. He coughed and took a quick step back and grinned sheepishly.
"Sorry, I need a shower. Tell ya what why don't you come see me a few hours. I've got something for you."
Dagoth winked at her and moved upstairs towards his room, stopping to tell one of the staff members that should the mistress have need of him he was available. Dagoth pushed his door open the room had been cleaned, he looked at the bed and laughed thrown across his bed lay all of the books he was reading all on the right pages he had left them.
"I don't think I will get used to this."

"Because you're happy, or you feel at home? Or prehaps because the fog inside your head is finally lifting? Or because of something else?"
The quiet voice came from the seat by the windows. The wicker chair normally turned out to look over the grounds, was turned inwards and had an occupant, half blended into the shadows cast by the drapes.
"Excuse the intrusion, however I wished to speak to you in private, within your own comfort zone, as it were."
Leaning forwards, Roan seemed to slide free of the shadows to become somehow more... real. Or at least more normal.She rested her elbows on her knees, and steepled her fingers in front of her lips, hiding her expression, making it neutral.

"STOP THAT!.....You have no idea how close it makes to just exploding each time."
Dagoth twitched when she spoke, he had been trying to find the right book and once again completely not noticed Roan or anything in the room. He slowly turned after he spoke and peered at Roan, the Pirate looked slightly annoyed but there he was more happy than before. He tried to hide the book in his hands, it clearly was about making clothes, different types of cuts used to make clothing. Even the large pile of tailoring materials was being pushed under his desk by Dagoths tired and dirty leg.
"What can I do for you boss?"

"Has it ever occurred to you that's one of the reasons why I do it? Should a day come where the house is in jeopardy, I'd rather my people were not jumpy as hell the second someone appears unexpectedly, and instead does something about it.
As for what I want, for starters, I'd like you to stop acting like a furtive teenager found looking at porn. What you do in your own time is your concern, not mine, so long as it doesn't blow anyone or the house up.
Beyond that, I want to know how you are doing, and your sister. The last two or three days have proved nothing if not that her sudden presence in your life has been positive, thus it is in my interest to enquire after her health, and whether the vitae is impacting you negatively at all."
She was being both friendly in word, and tone, but also reserved and held back. Daegonna's introduction to the dynamic she had come to expect between them had left her somewhat off balance, and while not upset to have the girl around, she was still finding her new bearings with the man... and preparing for the fact he may desire to leave, now he had family on which to focus.
"Talk to me. How do you see things at the moment?"

"I would like to stop feeling like a teenager around you but for some cosmically unfunny reason I turn into one around you. Which does no favours to my self esteem or manly pride." He grinned from ear to ear before dropping the look quickly. "I am fine but I'm not a fool, whilst Dae and I will share drinks, jokes and a fair few brawls...we both skirt around the real issue the loss of each other."
He dropped the book back onto the desk and took a seat on the bed placing his forearms on his thighs. The Pirate would keep his head lifted towards Roan but would struggle to keep his eyes on her, his mind was beginning to feel the end burn of a feed.
"I've lost 3 families in my long life Roan, this is the first time someone has come back. I know I should take her and find that c**t who stole her but I enjoy my life here. There is danger, bloodshed and Death laced with moments of complete clarity and I can explore other options. I'm still confused."
The pirate was rambling slightly he was sure she would understand and probably knew better than he did what this situation was. The woman before him was being a far better teacher than his older master had ever been, a realisation that didn't upset the pirate just brought home once again the loss of the old man.

Yes, I believe revenge should be sought, its very cathartic, but it should be done properly. Revenge is best served cold, so that you have time to plan, understand, and remove the more raw and unhelpful emotions from the equation.
In this case.,. it should also be driven by Daegonna, not yourself. This is her cross to bear, as it were, just as the Lasombra you knew is yours. It's important that the correct people initiate such revenge attempts. After all, you would gain nothing if I was the one to kill your old lady friend FOR you."
She leant back, seeking a smoke as she spoke, watching him carefully.
"How does Daegonna feel about being here? If she chooses to leave, have you considered what you will do?"

"A revenge for me that will never come."
Dagoth had he realised killed her many times not only in his head but in reality, each one had looked, smelt and even talked like her but they all felt wrong and he cheated. The frustration had eventually driven him to once again give up and try to move on but the failure still ate at him.
"She isn't the little girl I knew, that path was torn away but I won't abandon her either. If Dae wishes to leave I won't stop her but I will keep tabs on where she is after all, thats what annoying older siblings do. " He laughed softly. "As for me, I told you before my place is here. I feel like I have to be here, perhaps there is a grand destiny planned for me or maybe I will end up in a footnote of a journal. Either way I hope it says he died well and wasn't that much of a c**t."
