"So?" Shef said, in a tone that only the youthful could manage. "Why not just find an aura of light? Can't we do that?" Naivety, it seemed, could provide answers so simple--they just might work.

"What if I could let my guard down?
Into freedom, on and on?"

You really are quite silly!
Why are you getting so upset?

Life is life!
Things ALWAYS get worse before they get better.

So live for the moment!
This pain isn't worth your tears.

"Those unspoken words can bring the sunlight back."

"An aura of light?" Marina repeated as Reign scowled at Regond. She looked at her Guardian. "Queenie, didn't we see something like that before? Or were we really imagining things?"

Queenie shrugged.

"I don't know," she replied. "I don't even remember half of it. The memory's hazy."

"It's alright - wherever you are right now is where you should be."

You know, there's a door open to walk through!
You just need to be brave.

Nothing good comes easily, you see!
The courage to keep faith is inside you.

And everything is a choice!
So you might as well forgive yourself.

"I can't tell you how to succeed, but I CAN tell you how to fail.
You stop trying to succeed."

"One song could end a war."

Regond sighed.

"I know not." he said, "We would have to travel to my home; where your father and I lived; and look through my library. That would be the best way to find clues of how to defeat Lumah."

"What's the point?"

Kiki managed to pipe up.
Almost as if she had been beside Shef the entire ordeal, she crossed her arms, and shifted in her footing.

"There isn't anything we can really do to stop him-... it,
and even if we do try, we'd probably just end up with a few dead group members.
I mean, sure- it's just a price you have to pay, but unless, you all want eachother wiped out that's perfect."

Kiki felt puzzled after that. What she had said was a little brash.
That was odd. She thought for a moment, and shook her head.

"What I mean is- I think we should just get out of here while we can, before the inevitable happens.
Because for one, I'd enjoy my final days peacefully, not getting war wounds and surrounded by bloodshed."

"For your information, young woman," Regond said back, "My house is in the middle of the Sylstern, which is guarded diligently by Yemits, the self-proclaimed Forest Guardian. We have nothing to fear. In fact, it may be helpful to seek his council on this crisis. He is very wise..."

He then turned to Shef.

"It is your choice, my boy." he said to his Guarded, holding one of his wings outward.

Kiki merely scoffed at this owl.
Perfectly safe? Yes- just as safe as they where during the bakka attack.

The "young woman" crossed her arms in protest, looking off in the distance with her thoughts focused on herself.

Shef blinked and looked up. "Why me?" he asked. "Why is my decision of ANY importance?" The boy glanced around, met everyone's eyes. "Have I given any of you guys the impression that I know just about ANYTHING about what the heck I'm doing? I'm not a leader. I just... wanted to find my dad."

Shef wasn't trying to seek pity. He didn't even seem really sad, just... bummed out. But he wasn't detached from the world any longer.

Kiki was too involved with her own self currently to be worried about locking eyes with Shef.
She simply nodded to his prescence, and had a silent conversation with her Guardian, exchanging looks.

Regond sighed.

"It is your choice because you are the only one who can defeat Lumah." he said, "Without your father's swords powered with the Sacred Gaia, Lumah cannot be stopped. And I cannot use them myself, or I would have long ago, and we would not even be here."

He turned to everyone else.

"Even I know not what information lies in Arthur's library. It might hold some clue on how to neutralize Lumah's dark aura. We may as well travel there, so we can rest and recover as well."

((Because Shef is too simple-minded, is anybody going to ask why Shef was unaffected by Malis/Lumah?))

((OMG FATAL IS THAT YOU?!
YOU'RE ADORABLE! heart
And affirmative, Fatal.))

Reign snorted, tossed her head.

"Let's go then," she snapped. "We have no time for simple talking and chatting!"

"I agree," Falian stated, her voice cold. "I want to crush this thing - make it suffer the way it's made others suffer."

Floreta, exchanging glances with Alhiria, nodded in agreement.

"Y-yes!" She stammered. "We... we want to help to! We've come too far to just give up now!"

"Wait a minute."

It was Queenie who spoke as Marina sat snuggled in her fur.

"Malis and that wretched Lumah drained all of us, didn't they?" She asked. "Everyone, included the Guarded. But why..." she gazed at Shef as Marina raised her head and stared at him from Queenie's back. "Why didn't they hurt Shef?"

Regond knew the answer, but he didn't want to say.

"Shef wasn't affected because he is..." he paused, "...special. He is immune to the draining powers of Lumah and his shadows."

It seemed that Regond's lies were catching up to him. Shef did not feel like making it any easier on the owl--plus, he was curious, too. More lies? More deception? The biggest question... why?

"Yeah, Regond," Shef said, after a momentary pause. "Why am I immune?"
PostPosted: Sat Jul 25, 2009 10:37 pm

Regond looked around at the others, feeling like they were all ganging up on him.

"You..." he started, "You have no Sacred Gaia, Shef. You cannot have your own Guardian, and you cannot be drained by Lumah. With no Sacred Gaia coursing through your veins, Lumah is powerless against you. That is why we need you to defeat Lumah. That is why your father sent me to you. You are the only one who can save both of the worlds in which we live."

((Cue that cheesy emotional piano music!))

Shef glanced down at his wrist. "Really...." Then he glanced around. What the hell? Some crappy music was filling the air.

Ignoring this, Shef said, "If that's true, then I still can't tell you what to do, Regond. I'm not old and wise... but I think you know what you're doing."

Turning, Shef said to the rest: "I'm going with this owl. I don't know what all of you will do.. but I want to stop Lumah."

((This is getting a LITTLE dramatic. ;D ))
