Rei had acted too late. Kai looked at her with blackened eyes and gave her a little push back, laughing a little under his breath.

Rei tried to force her magic into his mind to remove whatever had made him like this.
Rajei looked like she might cry. "Kai?" she asked, trying to pet his arm, worried for him.

Rei's magic would become corrupted once it was used.
Kai grinned evilly and lunged at Rei, trying to pin her down.

Rei stopped to avoid getting her magic too corrupted. However, she couldn't stop him from attacking her.
"Kai!" Rajei cried again, trying to pull him back from Rei.

Rajei fell back and whimpered. Serah started to take over then.
Rei tried to push Kai back.

Kai fell back.
Tabris growled and threw her fist at the back of Kai's head, effectively knocking him out. She then whimpered and curled up in the corner of the room, thinking she was going to be punished.

When this happened, Rajei took over again. She crawled over to Tabris, gently petting her. "Good girl," she said gently.
Rei moved to Kai's side and tried to see if there was any way for him to recover.

Kai's corruption came from Yami, and wouldn't be easily removed.

"Aozora, Aozora, please come," Rajei begged, petting Tabris. She didn't know how to open the portal or if she even could in but she tried anyway.

There was a ripple in space and Lloyd stepped into existence, "I felt something was going on," He explained to them and saw Kai, "There's an evil presence in him..."
