@[ t e h d e b b e h ]: That is a great hat! Somehow I always end up with scarves, gloves, and no hats rofl. I guess its probably because it doesn't get very cold here.
@Mystic: Hope life has been treating you and your family better since your last post. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
The Thanksgiving holidays were a bit crazy here. I hit one of those birthdays that everyone dreads the Monday before Thanksgiving. My loving sister, SabreStalker, was very kind and surprised me with a giftbag of Bengay, wrinkle creams, Metamusil, and a 7-day pill sorter. Lovely. She could have at least sprung for organic products, maybe a recycled giftbag? rofl
The oranges on the Satsuma ripened. biggrin I got home one day, though, and noticed that several of the oranges were missing and parts of the rind were still left on the tree. sweatdrop I thought a wild animal or maybe a little kid got them. I decided to go ahead and pick most of the oranges, even though some were still a bit greenish. Later that night I hear what really happened from my mom. Turns out SabreStalker came by to pick up my mom and while she was waiting for my mom she decided to help herself to some of the oranges. (She and I planted the tree together several years ago, so she still babies it when she comes by and I always give her as much of the fruit as she wants.) My mom said she saw the half-peeled haul and started laughing. xd Apparently, in all this time we have been growing citrus, she somehow never managed to pick any of it herself and had no clue how to go about it! (Some wild animal it turned out to be!) The next morning when I saw her I told her I thought some critter had gotten the oranges and she burst out laughing. rofl

Finally have some time to be online. Got a vehicle recently and spent some time fixing the power steering today. So i'm ready for winter now. Helped my sister make a box out of some scrap wood we had in the garage so she can use it as a mold for the homemade soap she's making. Moved my bedroom from the basement up to the room that used to be the office. Need to finish organizing the basement next weekend. Finished all of the classes i needed for work.
Gonna stuff some oranges with cloves to fragrance the house up. Maybe next weekend if i have enough spare time i'll heat up some cider and have a cookout. Cracked open a jug of the hard cider i made last year now that it's aged for a solid year and wow is that dry. Its like a super dry wine that has a faint hint of apple taste. Not bad but not my drink of choice either chalk it up to a learning experience. Thinking about maybe using raspberry and some other fruit next year and making a batch of some other homemade wine/cider goodness.
Also want to try my hand at beer making. Like old recipes from way way back for wheat beer and such. How's everybody else doing this fall?
The washer stopped so i guess that's the sign that i've been online long enough for the night time to finish laundry.
I'm so terrible. I got caught up in stuff and I already have a difficulty with days weeks merging into a blur. (And then before I know it a billion years have passed then I think everyone hates me.)

That chickie is so cute. Really. I like baby animals, but I adore chicks and ducklings. Even more so than kittens!
And, lol @ our identical avatars. I didn't even realize it until now. xD

I love hearing about what you do. I think it's fantastic that you do all this wonderful stuff. I remember putting cloves in oranges. Your cider sounds fantastic.
And omg. I've been putting bird seed out for the birds since the snow has fallen. All of a sudden, five minutes ago, my cat is like "WHAT IS OUT THERE" and it was a bear! A big ole bear was eating some of the left over bird seed. My boyfriend opened the door to scare it and the cat almost ran out to git him. Even though he's been neutered, my cat has some serious cojones. Evangeline, on the other hand, I think peed under the bed. rofl
@pirhan: your cats sound hilarious. Our cats also like to stare out the window at the bird feeders but the largest thing their liable to encounter that way would be squirrels and such because we're not in bear territory really. I dont get to do as much stuff as i would actually like because real life (ie working) get's in the way too much. As far as the hard cider i wasn't sure what to expect but since it turned out so dry i'm just mixing it with regular apple cider and mulling spices because i'm not really a fan of dry wines.
As far as the oranges i'm totally a sucker for christmas lol. When i was a kid i didn't care about anything but the presents but as i've gotten older i just enjoy the holiday itself, watching movies on cold nights, hot cocoa and coffee after shoveling out the day after a big storm, grilling out burgers in january when its -10F, stuff like that really does it for me i guess. The time with the family is awesome too...and the cookies i gotta admit are pretty awesome.
If i truly had my way i'd have some chickens and rabbits and a cow maybe...and some land to grow more stuff on because our garden is only like 30x30 feet which is mainly for herbs, tomatoes, some potatoes, pea's, carrots, broccoli sometimes, and my massive rhubarb plants to supply me with enough rhubarb for jelly and several cakes and pies. Oh and i wouldn't be a slave to the 40 hour work week that keeps me from doing what i really want lol. The basement is a total overload of the smell of lavender and vanilla right now because of the homemade bars of soap curing on the shelf behind me. The living room smells of pine tree and cloves, and the kitchen smells like cookies...fantastic. Anyways time to crash for the night.

I totally have the hugest crush on you. (In that non creepy sort of way.) ninja
He's a lot better now. Not sure if I had mentioned but he had pancreatitis. Diet change, acupuncture and Chinese herbs has turned it right around. Before he'd just sleep a lot and because his belly was swollen he couldn't jump and run as much. Now he rips around the same as Evangeline.
I made some homemade baby food for a mutual friend. I just oven baked some sweet potatoes and bananas separately. Once they're cooled down and blended, they're just like any store brought baby food without the preservatives or extra sugar:

I found out that paper logs are quite popular to use in the UK rather than actual logs.
@pirhan: Rofl, As long as its the non creepy way its all good. The cat video's are hilarious can't say our cat's are so active. They just kind of lay around for the most part. We have one that is if i remember correctly going on 4 years old and the other is only like 4-6 months old i think. I lose track of time very easily because i work nights so day's don't really exist its either a worknight or a night off to me there are no dates or monday's lol which unfortunately means i seldom know how long its been since something happened like aquiring a cat. It just doesn't register at all.
@skye: How long do you estimate they last in the refrigerator like 3-5 day's or less/more?
@oriole lyric: I always see the paper log roller in things like the lehmans catalogs but i wonder about burn time of a paper log versus a regular chunk of wood. I have no experience with fireplaces just bonfires and such so usually burn time isn't an issue for me but its something i've wondered.
Just another day of work here. Came home to find more varieties of cookies had been baked...consuming snickerdoodles now and will be going to bed shortly. Plan of attack this weekend is to wake up early on Saturday and hit the bank, do my shopping, pay my phone bill, then go to a friends house for a bonfire and home made pizza's and perhaps a movie or just some mw3 dunno yet.

@ Teh_plague: Bones was a lazy boy until we changed his diet. (Dry food was hurting his tummy.) The white one is a Turkish Angora and the breed is typically crazy. She will get into everything and everything is a toy for her. (Which is great because Bones is not a toy cat so she uses all his toys.)
@ Skye River: That's awesome. I never really thought about making baby food until my friends did it - it really is easy and so much healthier.

So neat! I totally want that greenhouse! The compressor looks a bit cumbersome, but what a great idea. Both local newspapers here are free and I'm sure lots don't get picked up. It'd be an interesting adventure to see if it was worthwhile making and selling them.

Nothing much here. We opened presents tonight. Got socks, jammies, two sweaters and a Leatherman, two survival books and a secret book thing for my Kindle. Turkey dinner tomorrow with the two of us and two friends. Might also go skiing, but I'm not sure how lazy I'm going to be. xd

Happy Christmas everyone!
I came home yesterday to my younger brother asking if we still had the fish tank screen cover and I told him yes and what he needed it for.
Turns out he wanted to make some mottled paper to a friend to put into a picture frame and so it we ended shredding, hand pounding it into pulp and slopped the mess onto the screen and pressed out the water with our fingers until it was as dry as we could get it and put it up in his room to dry, since its the driest place in the house.
Sure enough, Christmas morning came and lo and behold a beautiful piece of new paper.

Merry Christmas everybody! For those who celebrate other holidays I wish you all a happy holiday as well.
Been a long weekend with getting everything ready for the family to come over but well worth it.
Woke up at 10am and opened presents, got all sorts of awesomeness. Also in the middle of doing laundry right now because i have to work tomorrow which is kinda meh cuz everybody else has off tomorrow and i don't but i guess it is what it is.
Cooked a 23 pound ham for christmas dinner and probably still have 20 pounds of ham left...yeah may have miscalculated but i guess i just get to make soup now.
