Nariana That...just sounds like madness. Why is this site still running? emotion_facepalm It's chaotic sometimes, yes, but it's not madness. There is a small team of moderators and board janitors that clean up the worst of it and quickly issue bans to those who break the rules. The site's founder runs it as a hobby and his site is supported by unobtrusive advertisements (static banner links with no additional code) and yearly passes to waive captcha boxes.

There used to be a strong nerd culture here (although I wasn't there for that), but it dispersed as Gaia started getting more business-ey and deposed Lanzer as head of decisionmaking. There's a couple boards left that still contain a piece of it though.

Yeah, you're right. sweatdrop And advertising is part of the problem. Most ad carriers and things like Paypal will not work with any site with unscrupulous content. That's why Gaia Personals and the link list was taken away; it was used for ToS-breaking nsfw content that would drive away any sources of revenue.
