But what's more annoying is that they announced via dev alert new account locks starting tomorrow for anyone who hasn't been online in more than 6 months(!). That kind of thing needs a legit announcement, not holed away in dev alerts.
So they say if you have mules you don't use very often, log in by the end of today.
I didn't see that until today... which means now all of my mules are dead. Not that I ever used them, but I would have liked to have grabbed some of the items I gave them back.. They really only gave a one day notice for something so drastic? And only in a dev alert rather than a full site-wide announcement?

There is an appeal for that by filing for a ticket and selecting a certain category but yeah, it's shitty. The ticket system of all things is slow as hell, it doesn't need to be made more slow.
I'd say log in to your mules right now just to check whether or not they've been locked already.
I had a lot of them set up as character mules, and I honestly don't remember what birth dates I gave them, or what e-mails I made up for them. Their e-mails probably all got deleted from inactivity as well. So I don't have half of the required information on the ticket.

Ah, well. Good to show those extra pale legs of yours. xDD
@ Jay?... I didn't think about that cuz it didn't affect me, but that really is a stupid warning. One day for everyone on Gaia to see.

As I said, it's a shitty system. The only reason why my mules aren't locked is because earlier I wrote down all my accounts' info on a piece of paper so I can log in as needed, which arguably defeats the purpose of account security if that paper's found.

Are you implying something?
The lockout will affect anyone who leaves for more than six months. Say you end up in a natural disaster or a major IRL crisis, or just leave to take care of kids/career/etc, or (as one person pointed out in the GCD) if you're part of the military and get deployed often. You'd still have to reactivate your account, and chances are you would have forgotten all the information by then. You'd be shut out of your own account for good. Essentially banned for inactivity.
As for my stuff, my parents used to root through my web activities and my computer just because they gave themselves the authority to. To be honest I don't even remember what they were looking for each time either.

Maaayybbeee...emotion_awesome --------------- I didn't think of that, either, cuz I never take long hiatuses from Gaia. The longest I took was maybe 2 weeks. xD But put that way, Gaia will lose much of its adult population. Too bad.
Looking for porn, perhaps.emotion_awesome

...emotion_donotwant I'll have you know that pale is pretty
It is 'too bad' since Gaia's free to make arbitrary rules as they fit, but in general it's a Bad Idea.
No, I was extremely sheltered back then. I wouldn't put it past my parents that they did it just to display their control like how governments snoop on their citizens. These days I can have total computer privacy from them since it's no longer running Windows or even a recognizable interface. They'll be stuck at my wallpaper and a small status bar and that's it.

Indeed, it is...*cough*Isle de Gambino trip*cough* ------- I don't understand your play on words. But moving on. >.<
How sheltered is 'extremely'? And I figured you would have set your computer with some computing mojo against your parents' snoopiness. You're too smart with computers, lol.

I heard that.mad I'll fry like fish if I'm out for too long.
Not really a play on words than it was deliberate parroting and emphasis capitalization.
'Extremely' as in 'porn didn't even cross my mind once, and if I stumbled on any of it I'd gtfo at the speed of light'. As for attempts to bypass my parents snooping, each attempt got me in massive trouble. I would be punished for things as petty as changing account passwords or even clearing my browser history. It finally ended when I installed Ubuntu on my laptop and deleted the Windows partition, but I got in a world of trouble for it since that meant I had eternal computer freedom; the copy of Norton's shitty NetNanny-ish software was no longer there or able to be put there.

Lmao, all that innocence was fueled into brain power, I guess. What happened to that innocence, anyway?
(I wonder what a Sabe-fish would look like...probably skittering away at the first sign of danger lol.)
My grades were excellent during that time, so probably. As for my innocence...uh...middle school threw the first punches, high school wounded it, curiosity killed it, and 4chan put the nail in its coffin. lol

Only if you hang out on those kinds of boards. The vast majority are work-safe and outright disallow nsfw posts.
In total there are about 40 work-safe boards and 17 or so boards that allow 18+ content. Out of those 17, 9 are for exclusively for porn, 4 are for sharing/searching for any files but end up with an obvious nsfw majority, and the other four have non-nsfw purposes but allow it anyway so long as it still follows the global rules (eg. nothing illegal) and purpose of the board. This doesn't include the text-only boards, but nobody ever visits those anymore.
