"Maybe we'll try Chinese next," Maia suggested after swallowing. "Or sushi? I think there's a combination restaurant... Have you ever had a cheeseburger?" She asked.

It was amazing, how far the world had come. It struck Michael every time he wandered out of his room, even if the technology around him had become common in his life. People could now eat cuisine from other nations made by people from other nations and watch British television in their American living rooms. Nevermind how intense television was! He hadn't watched much, but he figured it was a lot like the videos Research went through.
"No, I haven't," he said. "If it wasn't in England a hundred years ago, I've never had it."

"We'll have to try everything, then," Maia mused. "I don't know what was in England one hundred years ago. Next time, let's get you a cheeseburger. They aren't very healthy. But I practically lived on them for about twenty years so..." She grinned. "They don't really bother me any."

"Well. If you ever feel like binging on something, let me know," Maia teased. She finished the spaghetti. "Do you want to try the cake?" She asked. Did he want to take control?

Michael pointed to the soda without moving Maia's hand. He'd only taken that one finger. "Can we try that?"
Cake was good, but he was watching that "soda" blow bubbles.

Maia would feel her own face crumple. Her left eye twitched almost closed. She coughed.
"Oh wow. That's... interesting."

Maia choked and recovered. "That bad huh?" She asked, shaking her head. "Want to try the cake now?" She asked. Soda might've been too much for him, but the cake would definitely be good!

Michael nodded.
"See if you can taste from the inside." He took over gradually then, not wanting to overwhelm Maia with a sudden loss of control, and was able to open the box and wield the fork quiet deftly. He didn't seem to have lost much of his muscle memory, which was perhaps a bit odd as he lacked muscles nowadays.
He cut off a bit of cake and stabbed it, then sighed when it hit his (their?) tongue. oh, yes. That was nice. It brought him back to his childhood. My, that had been a long time ago.

Mm. Yes, she could taste it even when she was taking the backburner. /it's good!/ she thought at him. And he certainly seemed happy with it. /I know a good bakery, too. Sometime we should go there./

Oh, she could! That was good information for Lori, but sad knowledge for anyone possessed by a particularly malicious spirit. They didn't really care much if they ate bugs or raw meat themselves.
"Certainly," he said with a nod and took another bite. "There was a bakery in the city I used to go to. I'm sure there's not a trace of it now. it was pretty good, but it wasn't this. Lemon cake was always around, but not this."

"They put cream in the center of their cupcakes and everything," Maia said, and smiled. "It's a little ways away, so we'd probably do it when Toby could come with us." That way they wouldn't need a cab. "They're huge, too."

"I look forward to it," Michael responded. All of the awkwardness of being in a woman's body had been surpassed on their first little jaunt into the real world. It didn't feel odd at all any more, even while wearing a dress.
