"Whatever you'd like," Michael repeated. As long as nobody bothered him, he'd be fine. If nobody bothered him and the food stayed warm, and if it tasted good. Okay, maybe he was being a bit harder to please than usual.

Maia headed over towards their house. It took a few minutes, but they arrived sooner than Maia predicted. She headed inside, and then to the back yard. "See? No one will bother us."

Michael nodded and spread his figurative tentacles further. He wanted all of her senses as if they were his, but he preferred she keep track of her own feet and hands. He wasn't entirely sure how one ate spaghetti. It looked difficult.

Maia wound her fork, demonstrating how to get spaghetti onto the fork. "It's hard to get used to," she said. She'd struggled to eat it the first time.

"You can take this one," he said. "I'll stay quiet. I'll try to not make it too awkward." Eating while possessed had to be strange if the spirit wasn't in control. Maybe it was a bit like being watched while you ate? Either way, he appreciated this too much to risk making Maia feel awkward.

"You're fine," Maia assured Michael with a smile. She took a bite though. She couldn't blame Micheal for being nervous with his first time eating in who knew how long.

It was a little startling, to say the least. Taste was a reminder of the old but felt very new. His mind sparked with memory. Tomato. Garlic. Spice. He smiled a bit, causing Maia's mouth to quirk up, before he caught himself in an attempt to not divert the next bite into chin accidentally.

"Like it?" Maia asked, smiling slightly. She took another bite. Maybe they'd make this a thing. Maybe she could take Michael to eat a few times a month.

Michael politely waited for Maia to finish chewing and swallowing before he spoke again.
"I do. I've never had it before. It's... different." England wasn't exactly known for its food anyway. "I regret that I had very little time or ambition to travel in my youth." Or, well, in his life in general.

"I never went anywhere either," Maia offered. "I'd only ever been to that one beach in Oregon." Her world had been very small. "I'd like to take you out to eat more often, if you'd like."

Michael nodded gently. Yes, he knew.
"I would like that, very much," he said, smiling. That warm glow would fill Maia again. It had probably been a century since his last meal.

That warmth told her Michael was happy. Maia smiled brightly. She really was glad she'd gotten over her fear and really gotten to know the ghost. He had his bad days; but so did everyone. "Whenever you like," she said. "We can try anything you like. Except eel. That's not going in my body." She shook her head.

"Eel?" Michael asked. That was before accessing the information in her head, of course. Who in the world thought that eating eel was a good idea? Other fish, sure, but eel? "That's alright. I don't believe that I want to taste eel either."

Oh, good! "I think Toby's crazy," Maia confided, with a grin. "He took all of out one time, and he was eating eel!" She made a face. She took a bite of the spaghetti then.

Michael nearly mentioned the sushi excursion, half out of conversation and half to show off, just a little. Spaghetti, however, was much more important, and he shut up.
