It was a misty, dank afternoon. Clouds blocked most sunlight from reaching the surface of the lake, and yet the lake seemed to glisten with an odd light. Deep below the surface, the Guardian inspected the fathoms of the lake, making sure that everything was in balance. His sleek silver body cut through the water like a knife. As he neared the surface, he could hear the feint sound of crying. He listened and followed until he came to a small child, quickly sinking.
The Guardian watched this strange creature, the noise coming out of it's mouth, noticing the fact that it didn't have fins. It cried and cried until suddenly, the crying stopped. The Guardian remembered that there were land dwellers on this earth too, and guessed that this was one of them. He pulled it up to the surface and set it on a plot of land. The color in its body returned to normal, and it slowly opened its eyes.
The Guardian looked at the creature adoringly. It seemed so innocent, so pure. It looked back at him with a great smile. Its bubbly giggles filled the silence around the lake, and soon all of the Pokemon had come out to see what the disturbance was. The Guardian picked up a small white seashell and placed it next to the creature. Soon after, the voices of human could be heard. The creature, startled by the noise, started crying again. I must go.. The Guardian told the creature. He made a prediction before he sunk back into the lake.
Someday, little one, we shall meet again..

"Lugia!" Ryka jolted awake, sweat running down her face. She looked around and sighed. "It was only a dream.." She told herself, standing up and wiping her forehead off with her sleave. "But.. why did it feel so real?" She thought out loud. Noticing the many people already in the Center, Ryka guessed that it must have been late in the morning. She stretched and went into the bathroom to freshen up.
About 10 minutes later, Ryka emerged out of the bathroom. "Mmm, today's the day of the gym battle!" Ryka tried to sound excited, but truthfully, she couldn't think abpout anything but the dream. Maybe I should do a bit of research on this.. guardian.. She thought, sitting back down on teh couch she slept on. "Lugia.."

The train creaked to a stop and the sound of the horn blew. Mitsu jumped off the train, glad to have some fresh air. She walked a bit furthur into town, spotting a sign that read 'Welcome to LittleRoot!' The air carried the slight scent of flowers, and the weather was just right. Mitsu inhaled deeply and walked towards the largest building, which she had assumed must be the lab. On the front door hung a small sign that read closed in all capital letters. She let loose a sigh, she had wanted to check up on Nightmare as well.
Turning around Mitsu once again released Haku from his Pokeball. "C'mon buddy, let's do some training. You'll be big and strong just like Rain in no time!" Mitsu said running into the grassy area north of LittleRoot. In no time a Wurmple appeared. "Hit 'em hard with your Bubble Haku!" Mitsu instructed pointing at the red and white capterpillar. Unlike the bubbles that she had blown before, these packed a slight punch. The Wurmple wriggled in annoyance and retaliated with a string of sticky white. "That's String Shot," Mitsu muttered to herself. "How about another Bubble!"

Haku's attack hit it's mark sending the Wurmple in a fury of annoyance. It charged at Haku, who suddenly became wide-eyed. Haku was hit by the Bug Pokemon and was sent tumbling backwards. Small tears formed in the corner of his eyes. "Don't cry Haku!" Mitsu said bending downwards toawrds her Pokemon. "You can do it!"
Upon hearing Mitsu encouraging words Haku hopped up a bit, still covered with the String Shot attack. The Wurmple had turned around, gained some distance, and charged again. "Ok, Haku. This time try another Bubble right before he hits you, ok?" Haku nodded, completely focused, he would not lose his first battle, especially to a Wurmple.
The red and white Pokemon got closer and closer. A split second before it made contact Haku unleashed what appeared to flames. The attack engulfed the Wurmple, nearly burning it to a crisp. It crept away in defeat. Haku turned around, a happy expression covered it's entire face. Mitsu looked down at the Pokemon when realization had finally settled in. "Great job on your first battle! Who would have known, Dragonbreath," Mitsu said picking up the Seahorse Pokemon. "Let's get you cleaned up first, and then we'll see if we can find something else to train against, all right?" Haku nodded, blowing is trademark bubbles.

“Lets see” murmured Merle, “this one is a TM, Technical Machine. They are one use devices to teach a pokemon a move and this one is .... return. A good choice for your Cleffa I think.”
“Should I use it now then?” asked Akane. “What do I have to do?”
“Nows as good a time as any” smiled Merle. “You should do it though.” She handed Akane the disc. “Its as simple as placing it on your Cleffa's forehead.”
Akane took the disc and placed Twinkers gently on the ground. “Clefa?” queried the pokemon as it cocked her head a little. Palms a little sweaty, Akane held the disc in a slightly shaky hand, not knowing what to expect. Twinkers closed her eyes as the silver disc touched the tiny Pokemon's forehead. It clicked into place. Akane let go. The disc seemed to collect light, becoming more shiny for a few seconds then the silvery shine sort of cascaded from the disc, which fell to the ground dull and dead looking. Twinkers looked at the disc, then up at Akane, a large smile forming on the small Pokemon's pink face.

“That was it? Did it work?”
“I think you should try it out, but maybe after we get a you a few things” replied Merle. “Maybe a bite to eat afterwards too.”
Shopping took much of the morning and returning to the Pokemon Center made the time fly that little bit quicker. Akane was glad to see Stan had got the note and was busy repairing the generator even though he looked very tired. The fruits of the morning included a pair of sturdy hiking shoes, some travel clothes, some trail rations, a compact umbrella, a compact flashlight, and a sun hat for Akane. Merle bought a few clothes, and some household goods, but her clear favorite was the Pokeball keyring Akane bought for her as a keepsake.
Their respective bags in arm they collapsed into the moderately comfortable cafe chairs. A generous portion of fries, a hotdog and a large milkshake later Akane felt ready for some training for Twinkers, the jolly little Cleffa that was happily finishing off Akanes fries.

Their meal over with, Akane spent a few minutes stowing her new gear into her bag and disposing of the wrapping and boxes. It was a pretty good fit, with a little room left over for Twinkers to ride inside too. Considerably less burdened, the pair headed towards Merle's house to drop of her purchases.
“Thank you so much Merle, I've had a lot of fun today.” smiled Akane, and you've taught me so much.”
“You don't have to keep on saying thank you. The first twelve times was more than enough. And before you say sorry, don't.” the older Lady anticipated. Merle seemed deep in thought for a few minutes, then “I think you should do your first battle on your own. I'll be there to help if you really need it, but it should at least give me an idea of your potential.”
“Um, okay” replied the young trainer nervously. She looked down at the small Pokemon that was napping in her bag. How is Twinkers supposed to fight? What am I going to do?

Stan had finished repairing the Pokemon Center as was evident by his repair van parked next to the house. That or he became to tired to work safely, one or the other. Either way he would be sleeping inside. Merle crept in as quietly as she could and put her new things inside whilst Akane waited outside.
A loud clattering sound came from the back of the house, followed by a mumbling moan from inside. By the sounds, whatever it was was waking Stan up. Whatever it was made the clattering sound again. Akane didn't even stop to think.
“Lets go Twinkers. Lets see if we can stop whatever is making that racket” she whispered to the waking Cleffa. Without much thought Akane walked around the house. The scene that confronted her was .... messy. Something was rummaging through Merle's trash cans, much of the contents strewn across the back patio. “Twinkers? Can you help me chase ... whatever that is away from here?” The little Pokemon nodded descisively.

Akane made no effort to walk quietly, instead relying on the noise she made to scare away whatever was in Merle's trash can. The thought of putting the lid back on crossed her mind but so did the noise that would make as whatever it was tried to make its escape. Twinkers sensed the excitement and began bouncing in Akane's arms. The trash can ratteled again.
“Easy girl, Lets give it an easy way out for now. Maybe we can get it away from the house and see what happens from there” Akane whispered to her young companion. She set the small Cleffa on the ground and made a few stomps in the direction of the trash can, Twinkers imitating with its tiny feet and a determined expression on its face. The noise Akane was making seemed to be enough, for the wedge shaped head of a small purple Pokemon emerged fro the trash can. Eek! A Rattata Akane thought, but managed to stifle her shriek before it started. “Okay Twinkers, go get that Rattata” urged Akane.
Twinkers approached the purple rodent, still trying to stomp like Akane.

The Rattata looked at the slowly approaching Cleffa, looked at Akane, and descided to make a run for it. Twinkers looked to akane and the young trainer nodded. The small Cleffa chased after the quickly retreating rodent, Akane not far behind the Cleffa as they ran through Merle's garden.
The wild Rattata stopped when it reached the back fence and, cornered, faced the determined looking Cleffa with a teeth bared hiss. Twinkers wasn't too sure of herself anymore. The running and chasing was fun, but this .... she didn't know what to do. The young Pokemon looked to Akane, waiting to be told what she should do.
The small Rattata broke the stalemate with a blindingly fast tackle, sending the equally small Cleffa tumbling away. Twinkers got quickly to her feet to hear Akane urging her on. “Do something!”
By instinct Twinkers rocked back and forth, waving its short arms back and forwards as if in time with a beat only she could heaer. She finished by pointing her stubby arms at the rodent. Seeds shot out and stuck themselves to the purple fur and immediately took root.

Seeing that Nidoking was obviously the more dangerous of the two, the woman pointed to him, commanding her Pokemon to double team him. Hitmontop, looking worse for wear as the poison began to creep through its body, gave a shout as it dashed forward, leaping and flipping in mid-air, landing three solid kicks to Nidoking's chest, knocking him off balance. Now that the Drill Pokemon was staggered, Venusaur quickly took the opportunity to launch a Razor Leaf attack, the sharp leaves just missing the agile butterfly, but biting into Nidoking's thick, scaly hide – a critical hit. Jaeshan grit his teeth as he quickly held up the Pokemon's Pokeball and recalled him before further injury could ensue.
“It's all up to you now, Weepinbell,” the boy said, looking at his last Pokeball. “I know you haven't gotten along with everyone very well in the past, but now is not the time for that.” He glanced over to Butterfree, still shielded by the Safeguard, before he released the Flycatcher Pokemon. Wasting no time at all, Jaeshan set him on the attack. “Quickly, Weepinbell! Razor Leaf!” he called, the grass-type Pokemon responding eagerly by leaning back, and lunging forward as the two leaves attached to his body seemingly detached themselves and flew forwards, each designating a target. Hitmontop cried out as he was struck in the midsection, now hurting badly. Venusaur shrugged it off, it was as though the attach hadn't touched him. Butterfree followed the attack up with a Psybeam of her own, which was enough to take down the fighting Hitmontop.

Crenu peddled with all his might twords Violet city, constantly looking down at the pokeball with Larvitar in it. "Hold on buddy, I'll get you to the center in no time." Crenu continued to peddle as he reflected on the battle that just passed, wondering what went wrong. "Scyther was just way to fast, and that Silver Wind was compleatly unexpected. We managed to hurt it with bite, but we need a little more... whatever, that's not important righ tnow. I promise buddy, we'll beat that Scyther yet!" A new drive flared inside Crenu and he pedled even faster untill Violet City finaly came into view. He looked around franticaly for a pokemon center and spotted a woman istead. "Hey there, do you know where the pokemon center is?"
"Well sure silly, it's over in that directon, you can't miss it."
"Thanks." The woman smiled and waved as Crenu shot off twords the center.

((A bit o' posting shall be a quite funtastic way to end my weekend))
Mag looked over in wonder at the strange Gym Leader ahead of him. Brock was wearing a food sodded apron and was holding a pan of what appeared to be cookies that he happily munched on. "You finally done?" Jerry asked as he recalled his Sandshrew.
"Yes I am Jerry. Looks like you've had your hands full out here though." Brock said with a laugh as he tossed aside his apron and hat and set down the tray. "I guess it is time for me to do my job."
"Finally I get to battle the leader." Mag said with a sigh. "So could we heal my other pokemon first though?" Jerry motioned to a machine in the corner of the building surrounded by rocks. "You can use that." He said as he put his two pokeballs onto it. "Not as great as a real Pokemon Center but it works just fine for a quick heal."

As he pulled up to the center, Crenu hopped off of his bike and ran inside the center. He opened the pokeball and held Larvitar in his arms. "Nurse Joy, I need some help!"
Nurse joy came scurrying out of a room with a Chansey right behind her. "What seems to be the problem here? Oh my, is this your Larvitar? It looks bad. Chansey, get a stretcher out here now." Chansey nodded and hurried into the back room.
"I know, it took a few quick attacks and a direct silver wind from a Scyther, I knew it would be a hard battle, but I didn't think we would lose so badly... It's my fault he got this way...."
Just then Chansey reapeared with the stretcher and Crenu placed Larvitar on it. Chansey pushed it into another room. "Now now, don't beat youself up over it. Pokemon battles are always unpredictable and can take turns for the worst, but do try to know the limitations of both you and your pokemon next time. I know that no one wants to admit weakness, but sometimes you have to accept it and know when you are beat before the battle even starts."
"I know Nurse Joy, I'll try and remember that." Crenu looked at the floor, then whiped his eyes as a tear began to trickle down his face. "Is Larvitar going to be alright?"
"He should be fine, he just needs a little dressing to his wounds and rest. You should rest up as well. There is a vacant room down the hall, third room on the right. You should stay the night, by tomorrow your Larvitar should be fine." Nurse Joy smiled, then walked into the room Chansey had taken Larvitar.
Crenu continued to look at the room for a few minuts, then tirned and walked down the hall. Entering the room Nurse Joy had pointed to, he undressed and got into the bed. Still thinking about Larvitar and the Scyther battle, he nodded off to a deep sleep.

Brock moved to the main ring of the gym. "I assume you are here to challenge me so let's get things started. I'm Brock the leader of this Gym."
"I'm Mag." Mag said with a smile. "So are we going to talk on or are we going to have a match?"
"Fine. How about a one-on-one two pokemon battle?" Brock asked. "Sounds fine to me." Brock pulled out a pokeball from his belt. "I choose you, Sandslash!" He shouted sending the fierce mole out. "Good thing I just battled a similar pokemon." Mag replied with a laugh as he sent Sunfire. "Okay let's heat things up! Ember!"
The fox pokemon lunged foreward. He quickly sent out small flames at the Sandslash who went into a Defense Curl to reduce the damage. As soon as the flames dissapated it released a powerful Slash that dealt an extra bonus because it was a critical hit. "Oh crap."
