Some sort of walker close combat support.
If that happens Tau will be overpowered as s**t. Thank you very much. You will simply take out their only weakness which is close combat. Nope.
They already have some sort of big, close combat monster in the works... I swear, if they make another heavily overpowered army.... mad

As far as I know, no Tau walkers are in the works, even from Forgeworld, and if they were, the Tau would use them as mobile weapons platforms, rather than Dreadnought-esque close combat death machines. I'm sure the "close combat monster" is the Vespid. I don't imagine they'll have better than a 4+ save, and probably continuing the theme of Tau, no power weapons. I've heard musings about maybe rending, but I think even that is a stretch.

why would the tau have a giant walker in the first place?! They're the SKY MASTERS. In a battle against the Tau, they rule the air. They make it hard for ANYTHING to get through. Why, Forge World's current Tau WIP includes a certain ship the size of a table. ninja

True. But most other races have some kinda nasty death dealer(Dread, Def, War, Killer, Etc)Whare as tau have crsis suits. We could use something that carries more wepons then our suits can. like maybe 6 hard points 2 of which have to be filled by twin linked wepons

XD of course, the Manta Missile Destroyer. That thing is like a meter wide. It's supposed to be the Tau equivalent of a Titan or Gargant.

Like I said, if Tau had a walker, it'd be some kind of mobile weapons platform, rather than a CC death machine like a Dred or a Killer Kan

WTF Mate? Kroot, nice ambushers as they are, are piss poor in assault because they have no save. And what are you talking about, Crisis CC weapons? There are ZERO Crisis close combat weapons. There's only one battlesuit who EVER had a CC weapon, and that's Commander Farsight.

I agree about the kroot. The only thing they're good for is a meat shield, and they don't even do that effectively because one ordnance blast can take out 3/4 of your squad, then they run off the table.

As for the Kroot, Andy Hoare has said that they will be getting a bit of a nudge in the right direction to make them more appealing for Tau Empire players to take. No ones knows how their getting a power increase, but most figure they'll be getting a +1 to their Initiative.

I used my Tau army for the first time in about 3 months, and totally owned. That, combined with above pictures and Oryn's info... I have to stay a member of the Tau empire. I'll sell off the crap i don't use, and buy the new stuff when it arrives. For The Greater Good!

@ Oryn: Agreed, the only Close Combat Battlesuits we'd probably ever see are those under the command of Farsight himself, as the Tau in the Tau Empire dont train their Firewarriors in the art of close combat, since a Tau's life span is only about 30 years. Plus the Tau Empire doesnt require the Firewarriors to learn close combat because of their ally races such as the Kroot and Vespids.

@ Chakra and all other Tau Empire players here: Yup, Stealth Suits will be getting new models (which, from what I've seen, actually look like battlesuits now and not just armour), Ethereals will be getting new models (they actually wear armour now), its also been hinted at that 1-3 of the Forgeworld Tau Vehicles are being made into Games-Workshop plastic miniatures (rumour has it that it will be one or all of the following: Piranha, Tetra's, and/or Skyrays). Also, rumour has it the Tau Empire are getting 1-2 new Drone types, one of which has been mentioned as some kind of Sniper Drones.

From what I've heard, GW "borrowed" alot of stuff that Forgeworld has come up with (Tau-wise) for the Tau Empire (for instance a few of the vehicles, potentially some of the Drones FW came up with, upgrades for Battlesuits/Commanders that FW came up with, among other things). Cant say I really blame GW though, FW came up with quite alot of stuff for Tau and since 40k is IP of GW they have the right to pick what they want from anything anyone makes for their IP.

More to come as I hear/see it.
