A Freudian Slip is when somebody says something else instead of the real word. Freud coined the term when he found that his patients (he didn't term them clients as they should be) often said words that sound similar to another but meant something else. He believed they were sexual in nature. So for instance, a female patient who dislikes her father, would accidentally say "p***s" instead of "Pennance" or "Preference".
