I learned to play alto sax a little over a year ago. I wanted to learn to play for a while, but flute was my main instrument, and I couldnt' afford to buy a sax after buying a new flute. After only a year, I auditioned for jazz band, and I got in (surprisingly). Now I'm a tenor. Sure, I'm the 2nd tenor, but I really don't care.

*nods furiously and hugs a reed* I miss it so, but I had use the school's and now I'm at a different school! gonk
Yet I'm so happy! I made it into the second All-state audition for Georgia. It's so competitive! And I'm also excited/nervous because I find out my band placement on Monday for second semester and based on my grade I can get as high as 2nd chair sym 1 as a freshman. blaugh

I Play Alto & Bari Sax. I like alto more though, that's what I play for Jazz band and Tri-M stuff. Bari sounds cool though, that's why I like it too. I've always wanted to play Soprano, That's my goal, to get a Soprano. I dont really like the Tenors as much as the others so i dont play it.

seara_rain lunar x2 lol anyone who plays one saxophone plays all of them. They all have the same fingering chart. I mainly play tenor sax in jazz band thats true but for the tenor because the tenor has alot different notes than alto and bari mrgreen That is because alto and bari are in Eflat and tenors are in Bflat, as you all well know. whee 3nodding

Second tenor ftw! *high-fives* I play second tenor in jazz, as well. And I play the flute!

I read alot of the posts on how alot of you are the only one on your instrument. I wish I was the only one playing bari sax at my school then my life would be alot easier. I stinks being one of four.

I play all the saxes. I started on tenor. I started playing alto in jazz band. I got a hold of my band directors soprano and played on it for awile. But my favorite is the Bari. It is my best. I have made first chair in all distric band every year I tried out for it. blaugh It sounds so cool too. I love the low register off the bari so much. And I love being heard when I am in a large group. I shine when I play a Bari. heart
