Here's a gallery called Ovechkin-Crosby Rivalry NHL's 2 brightest young stars entered league at start of 2005-06 season. Russian scorin' wizard Alexander Ovechkin was drafted 1st overall by Capitals in 2004. Canadian junior phenom Sidney Crosby rode in on a wave of hype as next Gretzky as 1st overall pick by Penguins in 2005.

Friendly rivalry began at 2005 World Junior Championships in Grand Forks, N.D. Crosby n' Team Canada routed Russia n' Ovechkin, 6-1, in gold medal game.

In their 1st NHL meetin', in Pittsburgh on Nov. 22, 2005, Crosby netted a goal n' assisted on game-winner as his Penguins tipped Caps, 5-4. Ovechkin was credited with an assist.

Their 2nd meetin', in Pittsburgh on Jan. 25, 2006, was even less pleasant for Ovechkin, who scored a goal but was flattened by a spear from Penguins' Ray Whitney. Crosby, meanwhile, notched another goal n' assist in Pens' 8-1

Crosby n' Ovechkin traded goals in their 3rd meetin' -- in Washington on Feb. 11, 2006 -- but Penguins again came out on top, 6-3. Sid The Kid was also credited with an assist.

Ovechkin set a Caps' rookie record by scorin' a goal in his 7th consecutive game as Washington knocked off Pittsburgh, 6-3, at home on March 8, 2006. Each youngster also earned an assist.

Star power: Although Crosby n' Pens won season series, 3-1, Ovechkin got last laugh by winnin' Calder Trophy as NHL Rookie of Year after finishin' season with 52 goals n' 106 points to Crosby's 39 n' 102.

Rivalry resumed with dynamic duo's 5th meetin' in Washington on Dec. 11, 2006. Ovechkin assisted on 2 Chris Clark goals n' scored Caps' only marker in shootout, but Crosby (goal, assist) n' Pens prevailed, 5-4.
