Luxara is attacking Kursha!

"Gan?" Luxara was breathless. But he- what? Ganyma wasn't supposed to be a rebel. His life was ALG! She had so many questions, so much she wanted to say, but they were cut off by the continuing cave-in. "We'll talk later!" she called before running off and grabbing Anguis's hand. "We gotta find everyone else! Let's go!" The little greenblood started pulling him along.

ANGUIS IS ATTACKING KURSHA

Anguis had absolutely no idea what was going on. There was just a troll in a mask in front of them and well- Luxara appeared to know him so his hackles dropped a little. He watched the conversation in confusion, shoving his bandanna into his pocket. His wound should have been okay by now. "Alright, I'm coming!" He replied to her request, holding onto her hand tightly and moving with her. He hoped they could find everyone.

Dictys felt like they were getting closer and closer, and yet...ey'd lost Abrila in the confusion. Reasonable, ey thought: they were both avoiding traps. Ey hoped she was safe. Right now? What mattered was catching up to this mutant and her troops. But Dictys couldn't very well do that: a drone, taking initiative for once, pressed em against the side of the wall. Something hot whizzed by, and Dictys was, briefly, grateful. "...well done," Dictys had to admit after a while.

A little farther ahead, Mommydaddy was pushing forward. They pulled at Byakko's hair, short as it was, but retreated again, frustrated. There wasn't a lot they could do without running into fire. They needed to duck back to reunite with their charge...but where was Dictys?

Luxara and another tealblood were together. He put out his hand, and with his other pulled up his mask. "Lux, it's me. You okay? We gotta go." He grunted. Ganyma snapped his mask back down and looked left and right, leaping out of the way of a stray chunk of rock that had started to come loose from the ceiling.

They couldn't let the royalists overtake them now, not when they could be crushed. They could ALL be crushed. Ganyma, in a moment of clarity, realized that the Queen was not present.

It may not have felt like it amidst the chaos, but the gruesome battle had stretched on for nearly an entire night. The underground pathways sprawled northeast, winding around Chittentown before snaking up into the mountains. The Phoenix Initiative had been forced back to retreat and defend their most valuable asset: the Mother Grub.

If it wasn't for the dead giveaway that was her mutation and oversized weapon, Byakko was near unrecognisable. Drenched in a plethora of blood hues, it was apparent from her sluggish movements that her abundant injuries were beginning to weigh on her. Still ever firm and confident as she darted around the battle, Akko refused to express anything else. Now was not the time for panic, or to give them the satisfaction of seeing her crack.

"This way!" The rebels's commander waved her troops down a veering tunnel. Lunging back into the fray, Byakko savagely kicked down a royalist before shoving a couple of the straggling rebels ahead of her. The tunnel opened up into a chamber swimming with refreshingly cool air and the distant chirps of wrigglers. Those who had been there before may have recognized the area surrounding the Mother Grub- there was nowhere left to run. Byakko only had one more trick up her pink stained sleeve.

Atop a pile of flat rock lay a simple wooden box with a lone lever. Rushing over to the detonator, Byakko cried out a word of warning to the rebels. "Everybody, take cover and brace yourselves! NOW!" She clenched her teeth, slamming down on the plunger as soon as the waves of royalists broke into view.

The following blast rocked the entire tunnel system beneath your feet.

Boulders and debris rained down, filling the gap between the two forces with large slabs of crashing stone. The tunnel collapsed on itself, completely sealing shut the only means of the royalists getting into the rebel controlled brooding caverns. Trolls were flung around like ragdolls by the force of the explosion. Smoke billowed into the air, spraying a choking mist of dust and pebbles.

The battle was over- for now.

Wowzers! You all made it! The next part of the meta will be posted at 6pm EST on the 9th, however there will be no more fighting. We are moving on to stage two of the meta, second sign ups / orp, which will last 4 days. If you would like your troll to participate in that, be sure not to have them get too badly ko'ed, in character time is still ticking and the danger has not passed!

All trolls may now resume ORP in this thread.

All Rebel-siding trolls, those who attacked Kursha, are on Byakko's side of the cave in, with the rebel's Mother Grub.
All Royalist-siding trolls, those who attacked Byakko, are on Kursha's side of the cave in, in the tunnels connecting to the Phoenix Initiative base.
Each side cannot communicate with the other, as the cave-in caused by the explosion is too wide to carry sound through.

Ҕᾁʐɱᾁʂ Ҏӫςɧῒɱ

Once thoroughly soaked and covered with sopping mud, Hazmas turned his attention to the young yellow blood and trudged over to him. He could seem the troll shaking, probably more just as if not more exhausted than himself. Feeling a bit sorry for him, Hazmas reached into his jacket and pulled out a little bottle.

"Here, drink this," he murmured, offering it to the yellow blood. "It'll help." It was a mixture of various fruit and plant extracts specially made to boost energy and steady nerves. It had almost cost him an arm and a leg to get it, but now that he had it, it seemed someone else needed it more than him.

"Name's Hazmas, by the way. Hazmas Po-"

The green blood's voice was drowned in noise as the cavern rang with a deafening BOOM! The ceiling of the back end of the tunnel began to collapse. Although Hazmas had felt varying levels of fear, nothing compared to the terror he felt at that moment.

"MACHIM!!!!!" he screamed and ducked as his guardian dived over him and the yellow blood, shielding them protectively with her arms and wings. Bowlders and other bits of debris fell to cavern floor, shaking the earth beneath their feet. The young green blood howled in fright and clutched his lusus's leg until the noise slowly rumbled to a low roar and then silence.

"What was that?" he stammered, looking back to where the horrid noise had come from. It didn't take long for the dust to clear and reveal the answer.

"Mother Grub... That could've been us..." Hazmas breathed as he turned to his yellow blood companion. "Y-you okay?" he asked, his voice quavering as he tried to regain his composure.

Abrila Variga

The earth shook like a herd of trunkbeasts were charging into the caves. It broke Abrila out of her trance and she gasped as she realized that if she didn't move NOW, she was going to end up flattened by a stone that would do more than knock a horn off her head. Using the last of her strength, the orangeblood flung herself back from where she came and jumped behind an outcropping of rock just in time for a slab to miss her by an inch. She crouched, frozen, holding her shovel above her head like it would protect her, until the rumbling finally stopped and the dust began to settle.

Abrila waited until the ground was nice and quiet again. She peeked out from her hiding place, looking around to see if others were as dazed and confused as she felt. There was no way they could pass that cave-in, could they? So now what?

A nap. This called for a nap. Suddenly feeling very tired, she dragged her poor body out from the rock and lay against it. She shut her eyes and placed her shovel across her lap.

"M-medkit..." she whispered, to no one in particular.

They were on the home stretch. Amongst the surge of bodies struggling ahead, Zeffer was sure he had caught sight of a good number of faces he recognized, including those of the other rebel officers, which was deeply reassuring. The others had made it...they still had a good fighting chance. Up ahead, he could see Byakko screaming and gesturing, and he kept an eye out, making sure the other rebels around him kept on the move. Everyone was visibly tired, including himself, and as Maneki expressed his worries about Akko, Zeffer gave him a gentle squeeze as he sprinted along the passage. "We're almost there, kid. Just hold on." He'd probably said the same s**t a million times that night, but despite his exhaustion, he still wasn't willing to lose spirit. They would find a short period of respite up ahead, as long as nothing backfired.

As the tunnels opened up into the familiar cavern, it was like a breath of fresh air. For a moment, the stink of burning flesh and blood vanished, and Zeffer gulped it down, panting heavily. He made his way into the cavern as far as he could, per Akko's instructions, and braced himself against a wall, once again providing his body as a shield for Maneki. Soon, the little mutantblood could be reunited with his beloved Merm, for a while at least.

Though Akko had given ample warning, the sheer force of the explosion managed to knock Zeffer right onto his a**. He was too tired to get up, and leaning against the wall instead, using his jacket to shield Maneki as the collapsing tunnel spewed out dust and other small debris. Once a couple of minutes had passed, and the tremors died down, and he relaxed, melting against the wall.

"You okay, little Man? We made it...you did a really good job." He huffed a sigh, and tried to catch his breath. Zeffer, like most everyone else, was an absolute wreck. His clothes were shredded and burned, and his face was covered in blood and filth. His legs ached from where the acid had eaten them, but he knew that they wouldn't have long to rest. Shaking himself, he sat up, and ruffled Maneki's hair before glancing around, seeking out Aprife's wide horns, or the yellow of Vremea's flowing clothes.

Vremea was practically dragging herself though the cavern alongside Zeffer and Maneki when Byakko called out for the blast. Picking up her pace, the yellowblood clutched her side and ran, desperately trying to get to safety especially after Byakko's warning. Vremea managed to force herself to run faster, ignoring the aching agony coursing through her body and focusing solely on escaping. The more she pushed, the closer she came, until she finally came within the area of the royalists. At Byakko's warning, Vremea lunged for the area behind the nearest rock, throwing herself behind there and curling up the moment she heard the loud explosion.

As the ceiling came crashing down and trolls went flying, the yellowblood breathed shakily when it filled entirely, feeling her body sag to the floor in exhaustion. A short break, of course, but she needed it. Sitting up sloppily, Vremea glanced around the cavern, almost surprised to see that everyone was there and accounted for, even if they were all pretty roughed up. Breathing out a loud sigh of relief, she let herself smile from how nervous she was, letting out a few wheezing coughs and clutching her side in pain. She'd need to reopen the wound to heal it inside and not just stick it together hastily from the out. Looking around for any of her scouts, companions, or the familiar blue mohawk and tiny tealblood she'd been traveling with, she managed to spot the two of them from nearby, offering them a wave from her place. She needed to check on them in a bit to see if they were alright or needed some help after the great fall. Her scouts too— She knew a few of them needed some patching up.

In the meantime, Vremea was just going to rest for a little. She closed her eyes and laid on the wall next to her, body shaking and shivering. She was unable to heal her new scar to its entirety, but otherwise, okay. She was thankful she made it out in one piece. She supposed she owed Zeffer for that... Especially for his help with her stomach. A deep feeling of gratitude slid through her— Without both Maneki and Zeffer's help, she wouldn't be here right now. She definitely owed them.

Shifting a little, Vremea couldn't help but feel that in this moment, everyone was feeling the same— It was time to run. Not only did Kursha personally know who each of them were, he also knew what their plan of would be: To keep the mother grub safe and sound and move her from her place in the deep cavern. Before Vremea got too deep into thinking, the yellowblood blocked it out, allowing herself some well earned, 5 minute rest.

As Nictor ducked his head quickly under the water not just to wet his head but to also try and rub some of the orange blood off, his panic started to peter out, too tired to remain in such a state for so long, and after the whole ordeal this day had been, there was no way his thinkpan could continue operating on overdrive like that. His thoughts slowly chugged along as for the first time, the realization that Beehemoth, for all his bulk and brute force, wasn't invincible. He had been gripped by the visceral primal fear of losing the only real, solid connection he had with another being, his caretaker and parent no less.

It had been terrifying and even if he didn't know it yet, Nictor would be having nightmares of his lusus and himself choking on mud for a long time.

Jerkily, his head turned up as the greenblood approached, his body trying to tense in preparation. His brain was nagging him over blood color, telling him to be careful because trolls are dangerous, and hell if this whole day hadn't proved that. But this greenblood had helped him. Had helped Beehemoth. That kindness to Bee was enough to keep him still and make him pay attention at the greenblood held a bottle out towards him.

Nictor's face the picture of befuddlement as he looked between the potion and its provider. He had seen some of these in the market before, high end and higher priced. Why in the world was it being offered to him? The greenblood had showed more than enough pity by helping Bee, and Nictor was eternally grateful. Did the other really want to waste something like this on him? Hesitantly, watching the greenblood's, Hazmas he was finding out, face for any sign of changing his mind as he reached out tentatively.

Did Nictor say he was too tired to panic anymore? That's funny. That was poppycock. He can always panic. Now was the perfect time for more panic.

A deafening explosion rent the air of the cave, shaking the foundations of the tunnels and sending rocks tumbling down the walls and from the ceiling. following the sound of the explosion was the perhaps more terrifying sounds of cave ins all across the tunnel system, rocks grating across rocks, echoing ominously throughout the caverns. Muted screams could be heard bouncing off the walls, adding to the cacophony of noise.

As the ground rocked beneath Nictor's feet, water sloshing forward in a great wave, a few things happened.

Behind him, Nictor head the frantic beat of wings, the clatter of rocks being thrown around as Beehemoth struggled to move forwards, and the frantic protective clicking of his big lusus.

Nictor was thrown sideways with a choked yelp, body flying towards the hard ground, arms flying up to catch himself. He narrowly escaped clipping his skull off the rocks, hands hitting the sharp edges and grit of the ground hard, and sliding before he could push himself into a roll to negate the momentum. He lay there for a few seconds, the vertigo preventing him from doing much more than blink in confusion. Rock wall chunks were breaking off and falling from the ceiling, the din they caused making his head pound. Nictor found that he was safe from the threat of being crushed by this particular envirmental hazard by his companion's lusus, her wings and body covering her over change, and by extension, Nictor, protectively.

This cover did not extend to Beehemoth however who was still a few paces off. Bee collapsed, his clicking cut off by a crunching noise that sent chills through the young yellowblood. The clicking was replaced by a gurgling hum of pain, no less concerned but certainly distracted.

Gripped by growing horror, Nictor looked up at Hazmas, nodding dumbly, his cheek dragging roughly on the ground. He was glad that his lusus's saviors seemed okay, really, but Nictor was busy trying to process the noise he could hear behind him, the hum and the scrabble of large insectoid appendages against rock. When it finally hit Nictor, it hit like a sucker punch from a brick wall, if the unadulterated horror painted on his face said anything.

Scrambling up in the most ungainly, undignified way, limbs flailing, one of his wrists throbbing sharply and giving out, banging his shoulder off the ground, fingers clawing desperately as he hoisted himself up, finally, Nictor whirled about.

An unholy screechy keen erupted from the child.

Now, Bee's injuries could have been much much worse. The lusus had had the sense to tuck his wings close to his body and as a result were still intact. The explosion had tossed the still unbalanced waterlogged lusus on its side, and when rocks began raining down, a rather large one had crashed beside him before tipping over, smashing into, and trapping his abdomen. Some of his protective chitten had been broken, but nothing too bad. The really uncomfortable part was his body being pressed between, literally, a rock and a hard place. Beehemoth tried to tell his little grub that it's okay, it's not as bad as it looks, but Nictor wasn't listening anymore.

To Nictor, it looked like his lusus had been crushed, and nothing would stop the stream of tears now, his face crumpling as he scrambled forward, trying to choke out his lusus's name and failing every time, choking on desperate sobs. He half fell, catching himself on his now bleeding hands, pushing back up and stumbling forward and grasping uselessly at the big rock.

Nictor was well and truly a sheltered child. He stayed at home as much as possible. He was terrified by social interactions and had to take breaks to pull his wits together when visiting the grocery store. Bee coddled him, keeping Nictor close, hardly ever scolding, never pushing him, letting Nictor remain firmly in his bubble of comfort. Bee never had any serious injuries before, to Nictor's knowledge. He'd never seen Bee so vulnerable and it was terrifying. Before, when Beehemoth had crashed into the water, the fear he'd felt then outpaced anything he'd ever felt before. He felt the same deep all consuming fright now and Nictor hated it.

Between the crying and strangled hums that translated to please be okay, Nictor remembered Hazmas and his lusus. He looked up, body shaking, desperate for help, hoping beyond hope that the greenblood would deign to help him again. Nictor might not have been able to verbalize it but he mouthed the word 'please' over and over, his vision going blurry and his head fuzzy, but doing his best to keep his eyes traiend on Hazmas.

No matter how much they ran, there was never night at the end of the tunnel. Luxara pulled Anguis along into an open space, but it wasn't an outside. Was there a way out? Was it a dead end? It looked like-

The mutantblood leader was yelling again, positioning herself over what was very obviously a bombing device. What was she thinking? Were they going to die down here? Was there no other option?

All Luxara could do was duck into Anguis as Byakko set off the detonator. Another huge blast rocked her, but nothing fell on their heads. She exhaled. Slowly, slowly, she let her arms fall limp. What was once a tunnel full of trolls was now blocked off. Looking around, she couldn't see any familiar greenbloods, namely the one with a hue incredibly close to hers.

He was gone.

He was never going to come to begin with.

He had tried to kill them, and would keep going if he found a way to. Every single one of them was on his hit list.
And she had been a part of it. No hesitance, no effort to prove that she was any different from anyone else in that line-up.

Luxara dragged herself over to the rubble, just staring at it and what it meant. The royalists were over there. Kursha was with them. And he had burned her. Shot at her many times. Got her caught under the cave-in.

She put a hand to the bloodied hole in her shirt.
That wasn't a lucky shot. He had meant it. A very, very clear message. He didn't regret a single one of his actions.
And everything he had ever said to her that seemed reassuring, nice...that had warmed her chest and made her feel like she had mattered to someone so uppity...that she could help him through whatever issues he had and they could be happy...

It was all just a ruse. She was just as much a sap as the rest of them. No, the biggest one, who was she kidding.
But how? How did he end up like this? She had tried so hard, hadn't she? She had wanted to help, wanted to eventually get him to open up...she had the best intentions. Didn't she? Did she shut him out?

No, that wouldn't be fair. He always needled her, she had every right to take shots back.
And when he had cried, when he needed someone to care but didn't deserve it, she was still there.
Yet she was still nothing.

She quivered, just staring for a bit. Soon her hands went up to her face.
Luxara couldn't stop the green tears from flowing anymore. She whimpered as her face scrunched up. Anger, fear, regret. Not understanding how everything she had done had just led to this.

Sinking to her knees, all she had for comfort was her coat. Stagdad wasn't even here, but she wished he was. Even if he was silent, maybe even condescendingly so, it would be someone to cry into who might understand.
Where was Ganyma? Could he- no. No, she couldn't go to him. She didn't deserve his sympathy.

Kursha had tried to kill them both, once, and still she let it slide. She had done this to herself. She was a silly, foolish little girl with high ideals and she was played for it. Ganyma knew better, and he deserved a better friend who wasn't so forgiving of traitors.

Things will never go back to how they were
It would be better if someone just culled her now. She had a weak character and the rebellion deserved better than someone so pathetic.
PostPosted: Sat Aug 08, 2015 11:41 pm

It was all Anguis could do to hold onto Luxara's hand while she pulled the pair forward. His strides kept up with hers but he kept whipping his head around, looking for that familiar flash of teal that marked his sister. He trusted that Luxara wouldn't guide him the right way as he kept his eyes open for Forera, even for Estali, someone familiar that could help him find her.

But there was only open space and as he slowed and stood with her, he realized that Forera could be anywhere and the leader was yelling again and all he could feel was panic- Luxara was ducking into him and immediately he shielded over her, realizing that blasts were rocking the cavern. His hands shook as he waited for it to stop, pulling away once all he could hear was silence for a few minutes.

Where there had once been a tunnel, an entrance, was just rubble. He stared at it for a few seconds, uncomprehending, a slow chill running up his spine.

A quick scan of the area showed no sign of the greenblood they had been fighting and that, that left him feeling better. But Forera wasn't in his sights either and he didn't know if she was on the other side and what if she was, there with Kursha, she'd die surely, they'd recognize her and- his breaths were rapid, shallow, as he tried to control his thoughts. No, no, no it could not be the worst. He had to pull himself together and find her, he promised he'd protect her, he promised.

His fist went out to the nearest wall, the pain from the punch bringing his focus back. This wasn't the time to break down or panic. He had to find Forera and then Estali and the kids that were with them and maybe that weird redblood. He could breathe and freak out about it later, but now he had to be strong.

Nursing his knuckles, now slightly tealer but at least not bleeding, he looked around for his companion. Luxara, she was the first to find, she needed to come with him. His eyes settled on her back, found her near the rubble and he started forward towards her. As soon as he reached her though he realized she was crying and that made him pause, stop for a second in... worry? Fear? His emotions were so messed up he couldn't tell, couldn't figure out what it was.

But he did know that he wanted to make her feel better.

Crouching down beside her, he gently placed a hand on her shoulder. "Lux?" He whispered, hoping she wouldn't startle and hit him. It was all he could figure out to do.

Muerte felt fatigued. His legs felt heavy, his arms felt heavy. The right side of his body felt singed and he didn't dare look down, knowing he would find his own green mingling with shades and hues of those unlucky enough to be in the way of his saw. He doubted they would win this; there was simply no way, the numbers were so sorely unbalanced. Would this be the end? Immediately, he cut that thought out of his head. He refused to believe it.

It couldn't be the end. He couldn't die.

His mind rolled over the phrase like it was factual; believing in it kept his mind soothed as they ran and retreated. He wouldn't die, but what about everyone else here? He hadn't had a chance the entire fight to look for anyone familiar, and with how their forces were looking more and more battered, he wondered if those aforementioned familiar faces were here no longer.

No, it wasn't the end for them either. They couldn't die.

It was another fact. Aprife and Zeffer—Well, Zeffer was a roach that would probably never just keel over. It just wasn't in his job description. His presence would always be a variable in the every-night, he was sure. The yellowblood? Well, Muerte could at least attest for his tenacity. The b*****d hadn't even died even when his own throat was carved out. What fond memories those were. He probably shouldn't been reminiscing right now.

It was a distraction from the dull ache in his arm at least. Though it wasn't as good as hearing Byakko suddenly scream out over the carnage.

- - -

Muerte's sight came back before his hearing did. There was a thick layer of dust in the air that made him cough, and it was only then as he laid sputtering on the floor that he realized he wasn't on his feet anymore. He rose to sit. He found himself staring at the formidable boulder structure in front of him. That hadn't been there before, had it? It was hard to tell with his bad his vision was swimming.

Every sound was a quiet, mumbled buzz in his ears. He had been close to the explosion, though he thankfully seemed relatively unharmed from it, merely dazed and stunned but at least bleeding no more than he already was. This was from what he could attest anyway. The blood was already beginning to dry, his sleeve stuck to his arm like glue. His bone practically hummed with weakness as he struggled to support himself back upright, chest heaving.

But he managed, of course he managed. He wasn't dead and now he could start to make out voices and he couldn't deny the silent relief that flooded over him in that moment. What a crazy b***h their leader was turning out to be, eh? At least the battle was thusfar staved. The mewling and whining made his head snap backwards, and with a start he realized they had been pushed back all the way to the mother grub's chamber, the very one where they swore their loyalty and received their pins;—ah, blessed pins, the only good thing that came out of this mess. Honestly at this point he should just make his own bird pin, then maybe he wouldn't have to be bound to this damn organization. He could be his own troll, his own pin. <********, he was getting delirious, focus Perist. Sighing out a ragged breath, the greenblood slowly managed to his feet, ignoring the dizzy nausea as his head started to spin. Was he really so stunned from the blast? Reaching up to his temple, the doctor found his answer, wet and green and far fresher than his arm. Well, hopefully he wouldn't be too concussed. Staying awake seemed like a good option, then.

In fact, all of his frustration and grog culminated into a weary conscious as his eyes fell on a nearby troll. Well, that was one question answered at least. His eyes were glaring hot (if not a little dilated and hazy) behind his glasses as he dragged his sorry a** over in Aprife's direction, who looked just as if not worse than he did. No, definitely worse. At least their arms matched. Wasn't that something? ******** he was stumbling stop that.

It didn't stop Muerte, but could anything stop him? "So what exactly was that about suspecting me?" he questioned. It was apparent that he was pissed (when wasn't he) but his exhaustion overrode his ability to be loud and haughty. He sighed as he went to his good arm, hand fumbling hard to unravel the sleeve there, ripping it off to clumsily apply to his wounds. He sorely wished he had his first-aid table right about now. At least he was resourceful. Not that it mattered with his drunken coordination.
